| To Shock: It was pretty much how it should be fought. Ensnare first, then Devs, then mutas. Grrrr shift queued his mutas on October's mutas, then clone scourged. There wasn't much more too it, or I would have tried to describe it in the report. It's the basic pricipal we all know, but Grrrr can implement without error. |

To Ferret: Cloning. You select multiple units, like SCVs. You click them all on ONE mineral patch, hold down shift, CLICK one probe OFF, let go shift, click another mineral patch, etc... you can get them all moving at the same time and get to the minerals faster.
What grrrr did was just like a Maynard Transfer, but instead of probes to mineral patches, it was scourges to mutas. When you are attacking, you don't need to "let go" of shift like you do with mining, so it's even easier. |

Cloning: I answered this already. It's purpose is to get a group of units moving or attacking or spelling different locations while they are all moving from the same starting point.
TurboNewbie: When someone puts cannons or lurkers or especially tanks on the cliff next to your natural on maps like LostTemple or Ashrigo.
Natural: The expansion closest to your main that also helps to defend your main if you do it right. |

Mutie wars suck. It's like TvT tank pushes, only slightly easier to handle. When you throw in devs and queens, things become a visual mess.
Also, a question; how far away were Grr's scourage from October's muties when scourage cloning took place? I can't clone anything 'cept temps unless I'm 6 screens away, literally. |

Comment about scourge - I'm assuming when he cloned them against the mutas, he used 1 scourge per muta, yes? Mutas have 120 hps, scourge do 110; so if you do this correctly, you get every muta down to 10 hps and then your mutas finish them off (or said another way, oftentimes when your scourge hit, the mutas have < 110 hps and die from one scourge).
The thing I hate about cloning is that if you mess up, you may get disastrous results. 12 queens spawn broodling one tank :-b, 12 scourge detonate against one muta, *sigh*.

It looked like Grrrr cloned 2 scourge per Devourer and 1 per mutie from about 1 screen away with about 8-10 scourge. He might not have done them all with a clone, it looked like he might have cloned off 2 groups of 4-5.
After the game, I said, "Nice cloned scourging." to him, and he said, "Thanks." I didn't ask him anything after that about it. Sorry. |

1 - Koreans DO call expansions MULTIs, and October SAID alot of the expressions that Koreans know how to type in english when they aren't fluent in English.
2 - I told October I was Chobo during the chat between games, and you know what? He asked me if people know chobo and gosu, and I said "yes". He was happy that english speaking players were learning basic Korean words, just as they learned GOOD MANNER, NO DIS, etc... He's a pretty bright kid in spite of skipping school to be there at the game (it was Monday morning in Korea).

First off.. after seeing this report I realize..
I REALY ****REALY**** miss my T1 internet connection (back on an ISP...actualy worse then an ISP: netzero :( ).
Second off, very sweet to see micro being a heavy factor in a game (though after about a month of not playing, my micro=0, while my macro was never good to start off with...*sigh*). Don't they play those things on faster instead of fastest?
Thirdly, 'multi' > 'exp' imo. For that matter, chobofucker> everything.
Lastly, good report on a 2 battle game. I can see why Oct gave in, though he should take a bit on the M4 ideal of trying to win after losing everything but an observer. I wouldn't mind taking a few public losses to see Grrr in action myself.

Clonig : I sent scourges by small groups of 3-4 and I DID hold shit, click on a mutalisk, LET GO SHIT, unselect on scourge, hold shift, click on an other mutalisk, and so on.
If I don't let go shit or unslect a scourge, all of these stupid kamikazes would blow up on the same unit. :(

When I killed them he could have dropped the drones and do the rest of the way by feet ^^.
I though he was scouting for multis, thinking he was owning the air at this point.

hmmmmm.... All I can say is that October bowed out too easily.
In my mind it is always bad to rely too heavily on air units, (for one thing they are incredibly expensive), and the only useful units are dropships and 'Cruisers (and Corsairs).
If I was in October's boots during the second battle, I would have counter-attacked with hydralisks, as a)they are cheaper, b) They have a longer range than mutalisks so would have been able to score more hits before getting hit themselves and c) they can't get kiiled by a mass scourge kamakazie attack ( :) ).
October gave up, when he still could have fought back with ground units. Fool.

What the hell is a chobofucker, and what does gosu mean? Anyway I think there is an easier way to clone. Select the scourgies, right-click the muta, unselect 1/2 scourge by clicking on the wireframe thingie at the bottom, right-click another muta, etc. That way you don't have to touch the shift button, or try and click on the suckers while they are moving =)
Anyway Grrr... is god and I'd like to see him face D22-soso one more time or how about the current +2000 ladder leader.
Of course all on this great site.
Oh yeah, one more thing...SCREW NETSCAPE!!! Why don't you guys try a REAL browser...how about the one you have already paid for! Yes, you see that little 'e' at the bottom left of your screen? Click it! And if you don't have Windows 98, then get IE!!!!

Another thing, Grrr... has also lost to D22-soso in the semifinals of the BW Season 1 Ladder Tourney in April '99. That and the loss to October at the Korean tourney for 25 grand(OUCH! But I heard they didn't use official Blizz maps so I guess that doesn't really count). Wow, can you believe it? He lost *gasp* twice!
I think the reason why he is so good (other than the godly micro/never make mistakes etc.) is because of his quad expansion strat. In some of his games, when he knows he won't own the opponent right off the bat, he'll wait till mid-game then grab 4 expansions all at once, easily letting him overpower the opponent in resources. |
