I think that "Tim Stop, Stop" was probably bob attacking Crusader for fun. The probably are partners in crime. In the beginning, I was intending on winning. But, I had a lot of trouble concentrating on the game and remembering to take screenshots. This was my first BR and I'm still a little rusty at it. After about 4 Screens, I just said "Fudge it" (please excuse my foul language). I have no idea what Alt Text is. I'm only using Win'hoes NotePad right now (I just learned Html 3 days ago) and I'm not too handy with font changes and such. Mind clue'ing me in? Once I figure out how the hell to use Dreamweaver and Photoshop, I should be gee-golly swell. And now, for your viewing pleasure, a random Simpsons shot:

| Ok, people. It seems that many people are taking this report the wrong way. I fully respect other contributers to this site such as Drefsab, bob_the_newt, etc. I highly doubt that calling Drefsab a no-namer is an insult. He knows it's not true, I know it's not true. I even played a friendly match with him (a game I doubt he remembers), complimenting him on his writing/playing skills (I lost, of course but beat him later =)). Secondly, WraithFighter: I don't know how you would narrate a match that you participated not in the first person. Also, is it a requirement that everyone be a Starcraft master in order for a report to score well? I need to read something different than a person who constantly wins all the time. About the sarcasm. I just feel that many reports are just too sterile. Carni: A serious report was exactly what I was looking to avoid when I produced this report. When I think of Starcraft, I think of funniness, not seriousness. Why else are there "funny-ass quotes" posted at the top of every page on this site. Many players (Herbal_Avenger) and authors (Drefsab; thank the good lord for BGH Strats of the Day) have claimed celebrity status thru hillarious antics. Sarcasm hadn't been done before (to my knowledge) and I figured it would something nice to try. I admit, sarcasm is very hard to do on paper. Mine probably isn't perfect, but hey, you can't win them all. |

Wow, #54, that's a lot of comments. I've been getting mixed responsed so far, but what I'm really waiting for is a official rater's opinion. It's really funny how a report that has recieved 53 comments on it and is directly related to Starcraft has not recieved a score as opposed to another recent post about Diablo II, which isn't even related to Starcraft, that has only around 10 comments which recieved an 8.0 or something. It really makes you think.
For all you who liked the Statistics page, you should all try it out. Just take a sshot of the stats, bust out Microsoft Win'doze Paint, and go nuts.
As for another Report, I'm not sure if that will happen. Diablo II is hitting shelves around June 30 and you know what that means...(if you don't, I refer to my vocabulary word of the day) That gives me another month to come up with something. I find this statement to be false through experience of many battlefields. I often have seen Marines own hydras when they are backed up by medics. I don't believe that bull statement.

replace hydras with "cantalope" and medics and marines with stim with "Lions with bionically enchanced claws" and you get what basically this entire report is; not all that funny.
That's why I wouldn't give this report over a 6... nothing over silly reports (which this was) but it was very bland. I was just waiting to hear him saying something silly about "Zealots owning Mutalisks." I know this was meant in good humour, but it falls flat :p. "BobDole" does not sound sarcastic at all, in this report the writer has made him sound genuinely serious, and that hurts this report. Nearly every bit of humour in here is forced humour (as in, not coincidental, nor ironic, nor funny). I mean it's one thing to say how "Playerx decided that the best thing to take out the hydras was with pure medics (due to player error or whatever, causing him to goof up and send an army of medics at the enemy)," but it's another thing to say "Since Medics OBVIOUSLY own Hydras, I sent 24 of them to take them out." The 2nd version loses strains of sarcasm, and becomes nothing more than obnoxious and egotistical. I compare it to standing up in the bar and saying "I'm OBVIOUSLY the toughest guy here because I've drank a total of 5 beers." People aren't going to look at you as if your joking, they're going to look at you as if your their next meal.
Drefsab has shown us that Hunters and their players are funny, but I mean come on people. It's only funny if you can be new an innovative. I mean jokes are jokes, but Drefsab did crazy things, like hallucinting a single BattleCruiser a whole bunch of times, and 200 drone dropping a person. This report does nothing to that effect. All it does is to show the reporter make an ass of himself :P |

In response to your statement about the overuse of the word "obviously", I am at a dilemma. I faced 3 different kinds of readers when I wrote this match-up:
1. The people who know exactly what sarcasm is and know it's comical value. These people knew exactly what I was talking about and the reasons why I wrote what I wrote.
2. The people who know what sarcasm is a little too well. These people can see sarcasm miles away. The objective of sarcasm is to stay subtle, however with this type of person it is hard to stay that way.
3. The people who just have no idea. These people took the report seriously and believed what I wrote was actually an egotistical tirade. These people have to have to be explicitly lead to sarcasm in order to identify it.
You can obviously see each type of person on this list of comments: (Limp_Bizkit666 = #1, Ashdate (you) = #2, Shepherd = #3)
Now, my dilemma: How the hell can I please all three types? Answer: You can't. Number 1 would be pleased either way, but there was no way to balance the subtleness in order to please the last 2.
Now, about Drefsab, he intentionally creates BGH matches to create a hillarious situation. I don't know about him, but I'd, personally, rather be playing a regular game than play BGH. I did not play this match with the intention of creating a hillarious BR. Actually, I just wanted to test out how well I could make a web page after learning Html for the first time. I liked what I saw, so I posted it.
Everyone can now rest easy, should I ever create another BR, it will hopefully be something else very different. |

The first couple of paragraphs had me laughing. The final score had me laughing. The middle was kind of bland though. A lot of the humor did fall flat for me.
It was something good to test the waters with, but I wouldn't suggest going with this style for every report.
Oh, and it was very interesting to see my reports discussed in such depth. Maybe I should have a college class that analyzes my reports... hehe
