Wasn't an old ffa, i think it might not even be 2 weeks old. I went down basically Fox asks on nh forum who's up for ffa, a bunch of people who usually don't play bw agree, and for that 1 night we had a few games.
And 15+peons is just enough considering the peons don't have any travel time. I dunno if I didn't explain enough, but the mineral patched are literally touching your town center. |

I like Fastest; it's a much different game than temple or any of the other ladder style maps. This kinda shit is only possible on Fastest - massive armies, pure unit and macro superiority -perfect for large scale ffa (clearly demonstrated on this report).

I guess that means you will never come back to War3 Jaood, as the expansion will just add to the imbalance with more items and heroes. I believe from what I have seen/heard that all the new units are <i>casters</i> no other types in sight.
In an attempt to fix the problems currently plaguing war3, Blizz is just digging itself into a deeper hole. |

I think its rather interesting what you think, though. What exactly would you say is plaguing WC3, besides the irresolvable issue of random item dropping? The biggest imbalance I know of is Orcish weakness against air units. What others are you thinking of? |

In the terms of unit balance, things are fairly balanced now. However, as you pointed out joker, items are still problematic. In at least several games where I would've won (from watching replay) using micro and overall strategy, gaysu items such as BotD and scrolls of restoration have snatched that away :'(.
Things will only become worse now in Frozen Throne. For example, the new ne hero, the warden, will be able to teleport over short distances. Combined with one of its other skills, (it sprays spikes or something) this would be a gigantic pain for someone's peon line, as it would be almost impossible to catch. Bad enough? No, for that would not be proper blizzard tradition. Yet another of its skills <i>kills the unit that killed it</i>!!! |

new bloodmages for humans will cast spell immunity auras, and their autocast spell steals positive "buffs" from enemy units and transfers it to their own. This includes spells such as bloodlust and inner fire. Crypt fiends now have a burrowing ability (cough, lings, cough) which will add for extra headaches. The new ud hero, a crypt fiend lord or something, CAN ATTACK FROM UNDER GROUND. visible only from the air, this also adds for uneeded frustration and imbalance.
player built shops are another thing that makes me wonder what kind of designer drugs blizzard employers were doing when they conceived this idea. race specific items can now be sold from these shops, making them unavailable to others. What if one is complete crap while another could easily turn the tide of battle when cast? |

some additions to the expansion however, look cool. new creeps, such as turtles you can lure from the water, will add some reality to the game.
overall, imo war3 will never be completely balanced.

Ender, obviously War3 will never be completely balanced, because of the items. IMO, the items are an interesting factor, though. How could you solve item imbalance? It's an essential part of the game.
That aside, Bllizz just announced this game, which is probably not coming out for at least a year. EVERYTHING, even the new heros, could change in that time. Remember what they were saying about Reighn of Chaos about a year before it was out? Totally different game than the present version. That gives me some hope, at least, that Blizz will have the sanity to AT LEAST nerf blood mages which = big fuxxin imbalance.
If they will have invisible (burrowed) units, though, this is actually a trend more towards SC style cloaking. It probably means that they will have more prevalent detectors, with races other than humans/UD having mobile detection. |

Both games were lots of fun to play. I was pretty agressive in the first game on bb; second game I decided to kick back and play defensive. (I wasn't using the keyboard much, hence the crappy macro.) I am lousy at typing which is why I was so quiet. :)
