Hi and welcome to my battle report. Some of you may have read Drefsab's latest installment of "How to kill a Newbie" in which Drefsab attempts to conjure up an army consisting of one of each unit. Unfortunately he lost the game (!!!) and so I have decided to make my very own attempt at what I thought to be a very humorous idea.

Infuriated and confused that this potentially very potent strategy seemed to fail in the hands of a master, I decided to take the challenge upon myself. I joined a "1v1 temple newbies only!" only to find my opponent (let's call him 'Captain Gosu') with a respectable record of 17-6. Ugh, this could be very, very ugly. My only hope was that his record was padded from playing comp stomps. And with that thought the 5-second countdown reached zero...we were off!

My race of choice in this epic battle was Terran with Captain Gosu choosing protoss. I spawned in at the 6 o'clock position and immediately sent my 4 SCVs to mine for precious minerals. The assault force grows...Figuring I'd have to deal with zealots I started on some defense and quickly had two units in my ever growing army, a marine and an SCV!

My scouting SCV finally found Captain Gosu at the 3 o'clock starting position but I didn't get a good look at his base because of two expertly placed cannons which smacked down my helpless SCV before I could intervene. Seeing as how the cannons were optimally placed, I knew that it would be futile to attempt to sneak an scv around the cannons to see my enemy's base. Therefore I made the fateful decision to wait until my comsat was operational to gather further recon.

Shortly there after I completed my academy and had a comsat built to keep tabs on Captain Gosu. Also the I would call these SCV's usefulacademy was needed to produce my mighty firebat, the "backbone" of my platoon if you will.

With the comsat charged up, I decided to see just how long it would be until I was run over by 10+ dragoons and so I scanned my opponent's base and breathed a sigh of relief. Zealots. Zealots I can deal with. At this point I had increased my armada to one of each of the following: marine, firebat, medic, tank and a vulture with mines. With my mighty singular vulture I mined the entrance to Captain Gosu's base and with my new found security and my two trapped SCV's defending my main, I decided to expand to my natural. It wasn't long afterward when my enemy decided to attack with his six zealots. Luckily the mines were expertly placed and the remaining zealots were heavily damaged.

A second wave of zealots came at me and they were decimated with my lone medic taking medium damage from tank fire. Unfortunately if I was going to be pure with my strategy, there was no room to build another medic to heal the injured one.

A period of silence followed the zealot attack; Interspersed with a couple more lone zealots trying to break past my impenetrable defense. During this time my attack force was nearing completion and I scanned the enemy once more and discovered that my opponent was teching "nearly" as fast as I was. Mere seconds after I spotted his starport and fleet beacon I was ruthlessly attacked by a single corsair. Needless to say, my masterful micro skills kept me from dying.
As you can see, I managed to defeat the corsair with only a goliath, a marine and a valkyrie. All that was left for me to train was a single ghost and I would have one of every unit! RarrrrrAn unstoppable melody of versatility!

The fearsome attack squad was finally complete and I rallied just outside my enemies base. Never before in starcraft has such an adaptable army been constructed. I was ready for anything, up to and including the 3 zealots, 3 dragoons, and two cannons I had seen in Captain Gosu's base earlier.

Setting up my single tank push on some newly discovered cannons it wasn't long before those (now 4) dragoons and zealots I mentioned rained down upon me in terrifying fashion. Let me just say...concussive damage never sounded so sweet. Go go gadget battle cruiser! The ghost, firebat, and vulture handed the zealots their little blue asses and the remaining troops were able to finish off the goons and cannons. But not without loss. Unfortunately my mighty tank, even with the defensive matrix was finished off. However I quickly replaced it and used the dropship to take the high ground and once again push into Captain Gosu's base.

Corsairs are deadly to battle cruisers and goliaths

Now at this point I was feeling pretty confident as my enemies base was almost totally decimated and I saw no further activity. It was at this point that I realized that maybe Captain Gosu was a little to Gosu for me as I scanned the map with my dual comsats and found him constructing deadly buildings at the 12 o'clock crap, buildingsnatural. Thinking that Captain Gosu was just trying to live a little longer I quickly sent my heroic battle cruiser to finish off the probe and start to work on the buildings. By the time my slow ass battle cruiser arrived a fresh reaver had popped out and was promptly eradicated. Captain Gosu, displeased with the loss of his reaver finally showed his true face while my battle cruiser fled with the sight of 4 carriers!

Could my montage of units adapt to this new set of circumstances? Zealots, dragoons, cannons and reavers have all fallen before me. Does this strat handle carriers as well?

Quickly transporting all of my units to the ledge above the 12 o'clock natural, I began pounding on the tech buildings below. It wasn't long before the carriers engaged. Cloaking my wraith and engaging with my valkyrie, goliath, and battle cruiser probably wouldn't be enough to finish off the carriers single handedly. It was then that I remembered that I had researched lockdown! The tides of the battle quickly turned in my favor and I took no losses from the battle!

Unbeknownst to me, Captain Gosu had been mining the 12 o'clock main, and the 9 o'clock natural and main! But with his carrier fleet decimated, it was just a matter of cleaning up his remaining buildings and randomly placed cannons and pylons. All in all, I'd say that this strategy has serious potential. Anything and everything that Captain Gosu threw at me could be handled by at least one of my units. Using this strategy nothing will catch you unprepared!

Thanks for reading! I hope it was both entertaining and informative! On a side note, I've been working on another strat (BGH or regular map) but two attempts have proven unsuccessful so far. Try to beat someone 1v1 using only concussive damage units (i.e. firebats, vultures, and ghosts). If anybody wants to try it themselves and is actually successful, I think it would make a great battle report!
