There were some really awesome pictures and GIFs, and there were some that danced a bit too much.
This report looks alot like Bob_The_Newt's and that's a good thing. (Unless we see 30 of them) Looks like the game was pretty good. Johnny takes huge chances sometimes... a nuke rush? I guess if it works, you look like a tactical genius.
The game was well reported. I don't know if I liked this better than FLS's Ultra Rush report. Part of me thinks it kicks total a$$, and a smaller part of me thinks that FLS went a teeny-tiny bit over-the-top with graphics... for example... maybe the GIF's could have been a bit smaller.
I didn't have any trouble loading the report on our network at work though, and I enjoyed it alot. I'll prolly think about it and rate it when I get home... leaving work now. |

Best animated gifs so far, except they were kinda big. They were almost like little movies with all those frames.

By the way, I won't have time to make the animated GIF smaller because I had edited at least 40 images last night after the game. I had two mid-terms tomorrow which I haven't studied yet. hehe.

On to the BR. I won, so this was by far the best BR ever in the history of BR.com. You missed out on my favorite part though, when I killed like 8 zealots with storm!
Johnny's nukes were annoying as hell . . . it is soooooo damn hard to find a tiny red dot on 50 of your red goons. One more thing, I had like 5000 in the bank most of late game, but was maxed out on supply. I figured I'd just concintrate(doh thats spelled wrong) on my goon drops and saving Papa'Toss's sorry expanions from johnny before I needed to expand again.
Anyways, damn fine BR, without me it's a 4, with me it's a 11!

| I dont feel so bad at losing, as the game previously I mowed Bob down with M&M and tanks. Muahaha. He did beat me in 1v1 to start the night off, but I shall gain my revenge! I blame that 1v1 loss on my "over" sensitive laser mouse, and me not having played much lately. Oh also ultras are gay when you don't have lots of tanks. hehe |

Umm.... Did the world just go to hell? What's the hooplah bout the animated gifs? If they were optimized they would not have jumped as much as they do. Don't get me wrong... those are quite a few screens in there, but the work done doesn't really show since there was no cropping or editing for size of the images. Just resize to a bit smaller, make gif, and throw in animator. Who really cares if a few corsairs or shuttles got shot down?
Graphics prep no where near YRM 10's or even the refinement of Bob's. I'm sorry, I'm just a stickler on graphics, it's like grammar to me, if something (like an ellipse picture clearing showing edges of the screenshot) bothers me in a pic it really detracts from the reading. The only reason I'm bringing all this up is that this report got praise for wonderful graphics when near zero effort was spent.
Don't get me wrong... animated gifs take a while, but he could have at least done what Bob did and cropped the sections he wanted to animate. I just don't think 10's should be thrown out like this.
The report itself was clear and well written. The humor was well done and added to the reading enjoyment and several picture selections also added (out of 28 i'd hope a few did). That's all.

BTW, about the graphics...
The game was played last night at around 1am EST. I started editing the screen shoots and converted their format. I'm using PSP 5 but somehow the cropping didn't work as I thought it would: it added an ugly border on the cropped image. ok that sucked, but I didn't notice it from my image viewer (I'm using SEAS for that) because the border has the same color as the background. As for the GIFS, I used to have a relly nice one but somehow I lost it and forgot what it was called. Now I'm using one called "Animagic GIF," and honestly, it sucked. I can't do things such as adding frames in between ... So basically it means if I want to add something in between I had to reload all the frames again. There is no fancy option such as capturing a certain region only, or reducing quality to make the GIF size smaller.
Basically I made this babe outta thin air, including HTML, pix editing, dialogue boxes, etc... Probably don't look very good compared to other ones created by experts such as YRM with his great tools too, but as merely an internation student in the US, I found image editing very hard already. I had not much control over the size of the images, thus the warning at the top of my BR. =)
I didn't sleep until like 5:30am last night working on the BR, and the details in the report were mainly from my memory and screenshots. About 25% of the game was not recorded, however, because it hit the 100 pix limit, and deleting some of them didn't work (I dunno why, it used to work). As a result, I missed all my classes today cuz I didn't wake up until 1pm. Once I woke up, I rushed to the report again until 4pm, when I was almost done. gosh I just got TWO mid-terms tomorrow and I haven't started studying yet! Yikes! Anyways, after dinner I logged onto BNet cuz I dun feel like studying, and bumpped into Whoop and we played 2 games before I decided that enuf is enuf. Now I just started studying and found it's so damn hard. Oh well I'm dead so be genereous please. =)
Ok enough whinning. Can someone suggest some free image editing and GIF editing programs that are free? I mean, I'm not gonna pay $40 just to make better images for BR's. =] Although I'm into computer graphics, I'm not good enough to make them work in practice: only theoritically. |

<Font color="red">Wanna know the secret to getting more than 99 screenshots FLS?</font> Actually it's not a secret, but all you do is this: Tab out of the game and go to windows explorer, find starcraft, and put all your screenshots in a new folder. If the players would rather you not pause in order to do this, just have all the windows and folders set up and minimized before the game starts. It shouldn't take too much attention away from the game.

Ok... thanks for the explanation. I used photoshop 5 on most of my crap (except the stuff I'm doing now) and I don't know how you're getting borders. That's just freaky. Check the options in one of those boxes. Hrm... The gif thing. I use Gif Movie Gear 2.6. It's not free (but can be if you know what to look for). It lets you add frames...it has badass undo skills on it, and once you get all your frames in the right place, choose optimize and i have turned a 3 meg pic into a 250k pic. It's just that damn good. (changed the color to 32 and let it choose which pixels to draw - it took all of 5 clicks). It's got a preview and zoom and you can put a small image in and move it to the appropriate area (in the move it has a transparency of the previous or next frame so you can check the location - look at the moving minimap in my last BR for an example of that. i think it's the pic with the green background.)
Yeah..I have like 6 directories going br1, br2, br3 and so on. In each i have b, c, d, e, and f directories now. I say now cause this last game I watched i filled up each.

| Or you could do a search for HyperSnapDX on the web and download and use that for your screenshots. It works pretty good. If you're really bored, and have the time, you can use HyperCam (a different Program) and record the game. Then go back and use a video editing program to extract screenshots from that, or even make some sweet animated GIFs with it. Of course, all this takes immense amounts of time. |

I think what EggFoo was saying FLS, is that we can all tell that you tried really hard at the pics. Schedules are tight in college too... but what he was saying, is if you can't do a little more with the GIFs, just don't include them... you don't need GIFs to get a ten. You did get alot of the raters rating, and got more than one 10 on this report... too bad you timed it when JV is out of town and can't put you in the news. He is the only one that can edit the news, but it would have been a nice addition to the Fractal and Bob newsflash.
