Awesome report. MEDUSA RULES<i>!!!!!!</i> That is definitely the second coolest map after octopus. No one plays on cool maps. Death to the evil trinity - Dire, Temple and Rivalry. Again I'd just like to say (but not in old english) that report kicked ass. You did some really good work, I think its your best one yet. Oh yeah and Ottowa Schmottowa write those reports.. ok so I only show up once a month. You rule.

but a 9 is very good - you've shown good improvement in your br's, and i'm sure you will only continue to do that.
you had some spelling errors here and there (some in the pics hurt), and it really only was one game - and i knew from the start who would win that game ... i only needed to skim to find out =P
if a terran outscores a toss 2x on MEDUSA, we have an obvious differentiation of skills. 192x maps are very anti terran

First, Sp|ne, I disagree. Number one, you shouldn't skim. I did write at the bottom in big letters Balrog Wins, etc etc, so Skimming is a very bad idea ;-<
Also, I find terran in very large maps a breeze. Much easiser than any other race, in my opinion. I should put out a br on how I defeated 6 guys just recently with terran on the same map ( I have gotten better since I played you ;] )
I have to admit, tho, I kinda like this br. I hate to say that about something I make, but personally, it's my favourite yet. I like the grayscaling at the showdown scene, myself. Next report I might put entirely in black and white, BTW.

Again, Sp|ne, I dispute that large maps are anti-terran. It depends on the map. Cruisers kick, Nukes are deadly and vultures provide excellent hit and run. Floating buildings are made for quick production moving and fast expos.

dagomar, play anyone good 1v1 on a 192x map as terran vs either toss or zerg and they will give you headaches

I love games on seldom played maps. People forget that exploration is an important part of Starcraft and keeps the game fresh, as well as producing some interesting moments (as well as hiding my pathetic unfamiliarity with anything but Sherwood Forest). I love the dramatic black and white pictures, and the blueish terrain on Medusa gave the br a very different look from all the Temple games. I'm not sure if it's worthy of a 10, but it should get a very high rating.
P.S. What's the URL of your site? You know, the one where the italics makes your name look like Vagomar? I saw it in a comment somewhere but I lost it... |

Zerg own most 128x128 maps and anything larger than that.
Terran stand very little chance on medusa even vs a protoss player, and even then only if they start next to each other.
Not a great report, but largely due to the quality of the games.. a few nice observations like that scouting SCV noticing the probe. |

I agree with spine about terran mobility in large maps. It's really a pain, it's very difficult to defend all your expansions, bc's and dropships are all very slow. Toss have speedy shuttles and carriers, zerg have nydus canals, etc. Terran just suck with big maps, especially those that are very restricted in terms of having narrow passages and such. Mobility has always been the big Terran problem. Give dropships afterburners in 1.08. Just j/king ;-).
The report was very well done. The first battle, though, was really a non-game. If I read it correctly, the observor messed the game up entirely, so there is no sense reporting it. I would think that at least the obs would say something like, "Oops you saw my SCV, I'm observing." Something like this happened in one of my games where we had 3 observors - one of the guys was running his SCV around for no reason and it was spotted by the opponent and mistaken for an enemy unit. Needless to say, that obs is no longer allowed in any of my games :-).

your collages ( i know that's spelled wrong) are kinda ugly, (IMO) because the units and directions are all scattered all over the picture, so it looks like theres more then there really are...

Uh oh, I have some gripes... :(
Both games were total beatdowns. Come on. The first game Screamer didn't even break 10,000. I'm not interested in reading about games like that. In the second game terran doubled toss's score. Even with race imbalance, terran better win under those circumstances.
Also, there were too many screenshots. That's okay, a lot of them were good, but I think some were unecessary. For example. You had a pretty good sized picture with nothing but terrain and 1 probe. You're a good writer, you can describe a lone probe sitting in the middle of the map and I should be able to visualize it. :-)
The writing was great though and you did a good job describing the action. I was just a little disappointed because I spent a lot of time d/ling this report and the games just didn't match up to the d/l time.
I'm sorry to sound so critical because you did a good job with the materiel that you had. I just think you should pick better materiel next time... :-)

boohooohoo! I liked that pic! I liked the twin spire like thingies . . . maybe I have a sluggish brain but twilight terrain still looks cool to me. Think about it: The lone little probe, in the darkness, on a long, winding path into the abyss with ominous claws of black terrain rearing up behind it . . . .
Anyway, Thanx for the bonus point! I promised to make this report, btw, I tried to make it seem as close as possible, and the second game looks really good in terms of closeness, so long as you don't look at the scores. Shouldn't have added them ;)
Evertime I obs a game recently, they are smackdowns. I stinks. The worst part is that I promise to br beforehand, so they nag at me and gripe until I have it done. If I say I wont do it, they are devastated. I mean, if I complete half the reports I promised I'd do ( which are 6, that's how many I'm &^$&$#@ working on ) I'd get a 7 or something half the time. I'm going for a 10 now, I don't need sevens to pull me down ]-{
Special hatred goes out to Probe for being a pain. Heheh, you know what I said about u in the br! Oh, and WTF is with the newbies thing?! I defeated ProtectorofAiur, Garret, Mutarushalisk, Zoroth and Genjih. These guys have all been in hundreds of games, and generally have ladders around 1100 - 1200, although one may have more and one may have less.

BCs are my unit of choice in big maps. To win as terran in big maps, the key is to make your expos close together so you can defend with the bcs, while having enough D at the expos to stall an attack for the time it would take for your cruisers to save the day. Once you have a huge doom fleet, attack the enemy at their biggest base, annialate that, and basically crush him in one blow. That's the key. You must destroy him in one, powerful strike. You can attack again and again from diferent angles like Zerg or something. Flying buildings are a real help as well on these maps, as are ghosts, medics and vultures
The reason there are so many capitol ships in my brs is because:
a) I love the way they love and fight
b) they're almost gauranteed on huge maps
c) they look great in greyscale
[CAT]Williz, try to make a better one. To say that zerg own all medium to large maps is like saying that zerg own, period. Become a better player and you'll see that the game is quite balanced. You nice comments I dont care about, if all you see that's at least half good in this br is an observation about a bloody peon.

Even though I don't promise anything, people get so excited and a lot of the times they play in games I know they normally wouldn't just or wait around for like a half hour while I find people for a game just so I can watch. In order to get a br of a really good game I'd have to pass up about 15 mediocre games and that is a lot of people pissed at me. Yesterday I logged onto bnet and ended up starring in 3 potential brs and watched two games that I will probably br. Of course thats nohunters for you. |
