| This shows the power of dark temps! Most terran are vulnerable until they have 2 comsats or Sci Vessels. Turrets can be enough if you protect them. Vultures and firebats are good dark temp killers too. |

I see The Big Mistake (tm) here in terran base construction. If you want to defend BOTH the choke point and the minerals you have to split your forces. When I play as Terran on this map, I try to squeeze the architecture on the same screen (a la wagon circle defense) until there's no place to put troops inside. This gives me an easier time to provide detection (less area needs to be covered) and concentrated fire advantage should the base come under attack.
The choke point gets its protection later, when you can afford an extra bunker, 2 turrets and tanks without jeopardizing the minerals. I don't see why the Terran guy didn't use vultures and mines in that situation. Especially, for a relatively 'undefended' base, they could actually mount a successful offensive (luring troops back into the enemy's minerals, then blowing them up with mines, which take probes with them). Remember the mine, which is another, mean way to play 'find the templar' game.
Of course, NOT defending your choke point is asking for the 5-zealot cannon push; disposable marine patrols should be put on the map's critical areas (your choke point, HIS choke point) to keep you up to date on offensive cheese. |

This kind of game give terran a bad rep. First of all, relax. You're just on a learning curve, that's all. With experience, you'll learn exactly how far you can go against a DT rusher. Then you'll be able to kick him in the nuts.
This is what you should do against this kind DT attack:
1: have roughly 14-18 marines and medics with stim visit before he's ready (you CAN do this. I do it every game that they don't cannon in).
2: Do NOT bunker him in early . This comes later... when you're ready to push him into oblivion.
3: If you see him going DT, expand! First you put a turret in the center of your natural area (that should be right next to the expansion CC. Either float a new CC down there, or just build it there outright. You'd better have 18-26 marines as well. This should be standard for a Terran who's not under attack. Secure this expansion with item #4.
4: Proper DT defense technique. This means 1 bunker in your peon line with 3 marines and a firebat. This should be adjacent to your CC. Have a turret next to it as well. And when you get tanks, put one there also. This will defeat up to 2 shuttles worth of protoss drop, and can delay a bigger drop until reinforcements arrive. The firebat in the bunker will also be able to defend the turret from DT's, which it usually their priorty target. Firebats on DT's is HUGE.
5: Plan to smack him around when you're ready. The strat I'd use in this situation is the Turbo Newbie. One shuttle's worth of tanks and marines with 1 SCV at the cliff next to his exp works wonders.
6: After you tech to starport, build 1 wraith before putting a control tower on.
Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
