Nice battlereport. It was a classic exemple of the "never-let-the-toss-out-expand-you"-thing. Colours was ok on my comp. Keep them comming, and don't make excuses, as you did in the start.

| i must remind you a_monkey that the majority of the commenters here are not actual reporters. The only well known people are; garret, badzt, scarab and I. Everyone else are giving positive comments. But look at this report, you need text plainly, so just remember, never take into account the comments of people who have never written a report in their life, do searches on them if you have to, just don't take their comments to heart. Oh yeah, since dref isn't raiting alot, it means that i expect this report not to be rated by saturday morning |

I for one think grammar and spelling are important in BRs (and secondarily in comments). Why? Because BRs are reports. Descriptive writing, like a news article. Wouldn't you think poorly of a newspaper reporter who couldn't spell worth crap, and didn't proofread his work? Similarly, I think battle reporters who have any pride in their work should make some sort of effort to spell things correctly and follow the conventions of the English language (unless they're purposely going for a laugh... Bob, for example, would be less funny if he followed the norms of English usage, so he should ignore this). If your report is rife with errors, it looks like you just typed something out in one shot and didn't even read over it before you submitted. It's especially a shame when it's obvious that some work went into the pics, because the text is really the core part of most reports, and the pics are meaningless if no thought went into the writing itself.
You know what really cracks me up? People who want to criticize on grammar and spelling... and then spell it "grammer".
JV, any chance of adding a spell checker to the BR submit form? ;-) Wouldn't make things all better, but it'd at least save us from having to read pronouncements such as "imberessing" and "grammer". |

You're gettin' there.
This report has a lot of good stuff to it. You covered the game very well and had all the details. You had build orders, expansions, troop counts and micro notes. This let your report follow the game and keep the reader aware of all the action. That was very nice.
To keep that awareness moving, your text needs a lot of work. It's hard for the writing to flow from one action sequence to another when your sentences are a mess. Grammar, spelling, lots of run-on sentences, etc. That breaks up the report and turns it into a fight to interpret your commentary. The pictures were well-selected and well-taken but poorly arranged. Put some borders on them and do whatever the hell you need to do to fix that discoloration thing.
Don't worry about the comments about finding better players or reporting longer games. This was fine. The players were both experienced and played a good game.
You had a lot of great commentary on the game and covered it well, but you need to write coherently and put a little more effort into arranging those pictures. Not too shabby.

| evening gentelmen, now, as I look at my friend's br, I wish to apologice for my arrogant attitude. Its just how i am, for a_monkey and I try to one up each other at virtually everything (from grades to br's) thus i was truly incredibly critical with this br, and I picked it apart until the individual cells of the bone showed, thus it appeared that I was an arrogant fool, but I still maintain that he doesen't know what he's doing. when I went to his house, his first priority was to show me this br, I asked him about the discoloration, he said that he would fix it. He said himself 2 days ago he doesen't know why that is, oh well, might as well kill myself now |

You miss the point. The point is not to post something nice about each report. The point is not to come across as though you think you're superior to everyone else in your comments. Offer comments in a constructive, polite, helpful way, rather than a "this sucked, you suck, I'm better than you" way. Similarly, it's boorish to say that yours is the only opinion that matters because everyone else is a newbie. Even those who have never written battle reports can have some idea of what they like to see in others' reports; most movie critics have never produced a blockbuster movie, but know enough about the subject to give accurate critiques.
