who was worse, stalin, who killed the intellectuals and generals, or hitler, who killed the jews, mentally retarded etc. The deaths of millions of different people, or genocide. With genocide, you know if you're targeted, in soviet russia, you didn't know, you just had to be careful. The story was interesting, but had a handful of discrepencies. I don't fancy myself as a writer, so i don't know how to tell you how to improve this thing.

I know its not perfect writng and all. I know it lacks in many ways, but thats all I could get from my grandfathers. I had to research a lot of info myself, things they wouldn't or couldn't tell me.

He was a democrat. Therefor he believed in Democracy even then. If he didn't he coulda just flow with nationalism and wouldnt have been harmed at all. Its a true story. Its not some author thinking for the characters, its them.

damn just saw some mistakes. apparently whenever I wanted to write couldn't I wrote could and in one scene it should be "it were about 300 kilometres to Hamburg" where I wrote "to Bremen".

I'll fix that when I get back home.

excellent work. I'll give it an 8 - some grammatical errors, spelling errors subtracted from the impact of this work. But I liked it - a battlereport with some meaning, imagine that ;).

When you think of it there´s not so big a difference between
Germany, USA or most of the countries in Europe at given times in history. Each and all has made liberaly use of the moto "might is right". But of all I personally would state that USA by far outshines the rest in terms of cruellty. If I had some ilussions left I would have hoped for a better world but knowing that about 5.000 children every month dies as a direct consequence of UN sanctions in Iraq, for lack of food and medicine, turns my stomack. A country who a few years earlier recieved arms from the US to fight it´s naboring country Iran. And for what? Oil and power. And how conveniently all casualties happen to be terorists old and young.Ah..Well when all is said and done war will still remain a matter of who is left not right.

-so said he who loves RTS...

Ya right, what the hell do you know.

If you're gonna flame me, best read the whole text first.

#21-> I said that this is an international site, therefor an english site, so there is no sense in posting in an other language as english.

#22-> I dont see where this is not accurat to world history. the numbers are correct and I never said WHEN the thing happened to my 2nd Grandpa, simply cuz I dunno.

You were not saying "stuff in German". You were INSULTING people. People here thought you were German, thus you gave Germans a bad reputation.
So I told you, I admit in a hard way, not to talk German.

It could've stopped here, but you dared to called all Germans Nazi's. Now that, my friend, is something each an every German would freak out on. I admit there are still some so-called "Neonazis" in Germany. So are in France, Austria and other countries even the US. Calling all Germans Nazi's shows your lack of knowledge, as well as your lack of common sense.

For the "go out an kill jews"-stuff. It was another guy who said that and I pointed that out. Look at the comment section of my brother vs brother report for reference.
Nuff' said

I raise the bet btw, I speak better German (I won't bother to say its German German ^^) than you do, PLUS I speak/understand better Austrian German than you speak/understand (German) German. My brother spent 3 month in Austria, playing semi-professional football for the Austrian Raiders in Innsbruck. Austrian German isn't that hard to understand for any mediocre intelligent person.

"I dont see where this is not accurat to world history. the numbers are correct and I never said WHEN the thing happened to my 2nd Grandpa, simply cuz I dunno. "

Rubiks, I cannot comment on the accuracy of the semi-biographical retelling of the story. Several things awry:

"Was it his fate to die here, same as his father, fighting for some damn politician?"

- A personal sentiment. But inaccurate for the attitude of the time. Very few in Germany considered Hitler a mere "politician".

#38 FM_Moltke[107141]
wc01.wlfdle.rnc.net.cable.rogers.com
sorry, this thing wont let me post over 1000 words.

cont

"Fighting for this Adolf Hitler, with his absolut hatred for anything 'not German' ?"

- Quite inaccurate, and stereotyped myth. Hitler had great appreciation for Romanic archetecture, for Japanese military tradition, and religion, American industrial system, British 'civilization', etc. On the other hand he rejected traditionalist German religionism, monarchism, etc.

"Hell, the bastard himself wasn't even German."

Although Hitler was not born in the German state, he was born in the German nation (which Germanic Austria is inclusive of). Since the Anchluss, Austria became part of Germany anyhow.

#39 FM_Moltke[107142]
wc01.wlfdle.rnc.net.cable.rogers.com
cont

Quite questionable. There are many pre-war German scientific and economic monopolies lost by the 1930s. The Berlin 'elektropolis' for example, had been long surpassed by its American rivals. Although Germany continued to be the host country to many nobel prize scientists, America too had caught up. By expelling the jews, Germany relinquished its monopoly on nuclear sciences. In economics too, Germany's rapid progress in the 1930s failed to compensate completely for the damage done in 1919. If there was a progress in Germany to boast of in the 1930s, it would be the largely successful nazi social revolution.

"There were other stars as well, black ones for criminals and pink ones for homsexuals."
They were triangles, not stars. Black triangles were not for general criminals but for criminals specifically labeled 'anti-social'.
#40 FM_Moltke[107143]
wc01.wlfdle.rnc.net.cable.rogers.com
The first paragraph in post #40 was in response to

"No, for sure not in Germany, the country with the most progress in both technology and economy since 1919. "

#41 RubiksCube[109304]

-Many Germans considered him a politician, just like any other, otherwise they would've seen what he was planning.

-It was rumored among Germans that he would hat everything not Germans, althought he had respect for several nations. This is the statement of a biased democrat at these times though.

-He wasn't born German, therefor he wasn't German. Period

-I just said Germany hat the most progress. They had lost a war 1919 and still were nearly as far as the US in 1939, only 20 years later.

-I learned the star thing in school, dont really know if the triangle thing is true. The stars were 2 Triangles, btw, so that maybe the point we're arguing about.

Anyways, about the Happy Ending stuff. Pretty dumb to complain about Happy Ending in a true story. My father and mother weren't born when that happened, so if it had a tragic ending I wouldn't have been born, so you wouldn't have read this story cause noone presented it to you.
