If you had any knowledge about this site or the way that reports are submitted, you would know that it takes more than just to "press your enter key periodically", as you put it. I'm sick of everyone complaining at me that I shouldn't be hard on people who write crappy reports. Let's put it this way. Do restaurant critics go out and open restaurants? No. But they continue to like them because they generally review in a way to inform everyone whether it is good or not.
I say this report is a piece of shit. You can't say otherwise. I'm merely a critic, and although I may not know much about actually writing BRs other than being a critic, I know a bad report when I see one. It doesn't take that much to recognize quality or lack of it. |

The "restaurant critics" that you refered to in your analogy are the raters, not everybody that comments. Whether the report is good or not is not the point. Well, in a way it is, but some of the greats started out writing text only crap. But every jerk didn't come out and flame them, instead, they gave REAL consructive critisicm and eventually they became decent reporters.

Also, we should not only ban him from the site, but track him down and kill him, because god forbid we let someone write a report with no paragraphs and live. If your HTML isn't better, then you probably shouldn't be insulting his. Saying you disliked it and that it was hard to read because of a lack of commas is fine, but calling it a "dirty piece of shit" is something that you probably shouldn't do until you've tried and seen how hard (or easy) it is. |

| First off I would like to say that a lot of people take a plenty of harsh criticism after writing their first BR. A 4 is actually a A pretty good score for a first shot. There are html guides on this website that can help you in the future. Aside from agreeing with most of what Decay has written, in short take away what you can from the constructive criticism and ignore the rest. The main problem I noticed in your report was the writing. If you want people to read and appreciate what you've written, improve your writing skills, and put more effort into formulating complete, clear, and discernable sentences. Also double check for mistakes as you may find one or two that could be easily corrected. |

There's only one place that makes it clear that the report box is an .htm file, not formatted text. It's ZerG~LinG's nondescript guide which is below everyone else's guide in the Guides section.
You seriously think Dragon~Dsc~ doesn't regret how his report turned out? That regret is enough for anyone to rectify that problem (using informative comments that are not ignorant of why the problem occured, of course) in future reports.
This first negative impression of br.com would keep most people from bothering with another report. I'm just glad that a few people who make this _common_ mistake persevere (YourButteredBiscuit writes great reports!) despite the trash that resides at this website.

Seriously, first-timers should be treated differently than more experienced reporters. Perhaps not in the ratings, but definately in the comments. All of us were newbies once (I still am... :) and we are only here because (A) We endured the scathing flames of our 'betters,' or (B) We received advice and constructive criticisms from those that are more experienced, and we learned from it.
How many of us are from the A category? *looks around* As I thought. I would say that this reporter just needs a little more training, and he should be fine. It's not his content, it's the presentation, that's lacking in this report. |
