some quick things:
first, i quickly became tired of the zoomed in pics, one or two is nice but it becomes a little much if there are too many.
next, there were a ton of spelling mistakes and stuff (one of the human taurens came to make an exp? wtf?) And the naming of the heroes in the beginning was a little tiring. Other than that, an excellent job, plz make more.

| not a bad report. The humor was okay, and i kinda liked it. You didn't really give the reader a lot of information and description though. Like what was the build order? what level were the heroes? how many expansions did each member have? etc. Not to mention i knew this wasnt going to be a good game when stupid red used foots w/o hero to creep...And your last pic, which is the climax pic, did not show up, which is a HUGE problem. |

Okay, IMO there's some big flaws here.
Your text is some dark teal thing, and it reads like a bitch on your fancy background. Sometimes your writing confuses me, and you jump merrily from (more often than not) lame jokes to battle descriptions. Jokes are good. I like. But I'd rather have a giggle a couple of times than to be bombarded by more or less crappy puns. I tend to have the same problem myself (much worse when i started) and it's all a matter of reading some other reports and picking up on what sounds good and what doesn't. I personally learned a bunch of english from the site (being from Denmark and all), so I'm sure you can as well.

i dont know how things are being rated these days, but they dont seem to be on as much of a high scale as before. I dont know how this got a 9, to be frank. I pull this br outta my ass in about a day and a half. Think about it, blargs reports got a 9, CB's reports get a 9, your saying that this is par with those? i mean this is good, no offense giga, but no where near 9 material. And frankly i dont think giga's first report deserved an 8, there were quite a few flaws, as there are with this one. Whats going on? |

Yeah sorry for being blunt. And its "i could pull blahblahbal" i dunno, im a little angry i guess. I know, giga, that you worked hard on this, and the effort does show. However, I kinda agree with ling here, i think this was an 8. But im not sure if it measures with cb because
1) it doesnt look as good
2) the grammar isn't as excellent, nor is the game description
3) CBs picture quality is great
4) CB offers a great map description, and sometimes makes up his own maps
5) CB brs multiple games, while this focuses on one not so great game :

As mentioned, the text was hard to view on the fancy background... Giga, try to always go for good contrast and your next BR will be better...
Next, the images, were big and that is ok in my book, as long as they show the required amount of action... What I missed was more the "minimaps"... while Legends is a quite well known map, it still doesn't hurt to be reminded where the expansions were located and not to mention where the battles went on... Hmm... and the we have the broken image link... Well, thinking one second or two, and you will figure out the correct link and can thus open it up yourself... still, a pity it didn't work...

Yay! Thanks to all who liked my report and ultimate thanks to admins for giving me gold mark in a single day :D
I am realy happy for this (heck, I've finaly found something regarding WC3 where people actualy like my work :D).
Now:
1. I am REALY sorry for the fact that text is bad viewed on mozila and other browsers apart from IE but I have only IE and tested it only there.... also, what's that stuff about dark gray being hard to see on dark red?!?!!?? I see it perfectly.
2. I am also very very sorry for the bad english of mine and other language problems... I learned MOST of my english from internet, games and other stuff and least from school so... I am improving...slowly... I will make sure I ran my next report thru the spellchecker next time... sorry for the inconvenience. |

The standards for what is a "9" have drastically changed.
This is not a "bad" report, but it's not a "9", either. The humor is rather lame, and there's too much drifting off (ex. "Then the aboms attacked... OH I HATE ABOMS THEY EAT NAILS AND I AM CRAZY"). It's ok once in a while to change pace, but not once per paragraph. "Bob the Ghoul" (I suppose the new "Deon Peon") is mentioned, but there are no ghoul antics to capitalize on his "popularity". If you're gonna make a hero out of him, have him do stuff.
This game was also fairly one sided. Mother***** didn't stand much of a chance, no matter what lvl he was. Giga pounded him. If he hadn't have made a few mistakes, the game would have ended _MUCH_ sooner.
With a severe drought of battle reports as of late, however, this is as good as it gets. So, in light of those, I guess a "9" isn't a horrible rate. |

Just a few comments:
1. whether this report is worth 9 or not is frankly a matter of taste. I've seen reports that I'd consider worse get a 10. I think ppl here like BW more than WC3 and it shows in the comments. Besides, I don't come here to see if the br got a 9 or a 10 or what, it's ok if I enjoyed reading it (and I did).
Now coming back to the br... :)
2. You still mixed a bit the "I did" and "MitjaV did", so just make a choice and stick to something till the end.
3. Images. There's a lot to be said about your images. First of all don't zoom all of them. It's nice for some special action, but not all the time. Sometimes it's good to see the action as you've seen it as a player. Also, big images can be good, but generally speaking they should -always- be placed -after- the description. This way when you look at the pic you start "reviewing the desc in your head" a la "oh yeah that's when... and here that's when...". [...] |

Doing it the other way around just leaves the reader puzzled as to what happened, and then the reader has to scroll back up :/ Another way to achieve a nice "flow" would be to break your big images into smaller ones and place them directly after the desc, doing some kind of series: desc-pic-desc-pic-... Also in this way you can use alt-text more instead of writing over/next to the pics.
4. Minimap!!! Make some pauses and use the minimap to show what's happening on the macro side of the game. Micro is fun but a br that focuses too much on the micro aspect can quickly become very boring. Try to have a look at some other very good reports and you will notice they stop a couple of times to clarify who is where, doing what, which creeps are history, where are the expos, how many units ppl have, what tech, and lvl of heroes, etc. This is really helpful.

5. Grammar, style and so on: quite a lot of reports here written by natives are worse than yours, overall it doesn't hinder comprehension, so I'd say it's more than ok. Your style is awesome for a non-native.
Ok, that's it. I really enjoyed reading your report, keep up the good stuff. You set a very high standard for yourself with your 1st report and we can already see some improvements on topf of that so that's really impressive.

Harr! Thanks for the tips about zooming and the minimap.
Dunno, I fealt like "The Little Updates On The Situation" were 100% classical and tried to make it as original as possible.
As for my style and humour, well, they are mostly mine and, much like in real life, half of the people understand it and consider it cool/hilarious while the other half dislikes it and says its unoriginal/not-funny. It seems it has came to my BRs :).
Anyway, as for the broken link to the picture.. I dunno how to change it without reposting the whole report :( If admins could please explain me how, I'd be grateful. Also, I'd like to add the site-metter too (which I forgot :( ) so, I'd be realy grateful for some tips :).

I would concur with #44, I can't really add too much to the criticisms already offered here, so I'd just like to say that your style of writing is not really my kind.
I mean, you jump from tangent to tangent without any clear breaks, and that has a tendecy to bother me. Once or twice a report is fine, but the lame jokes and very thin references (the peasant as a tauren, Bob the Ghoul, etc.) quickly got on my nerves.
And you got a nine for this? Absolutely no offence meant in the least, but this was not a nine-worthy report, in my opinion. I would say 8 at the most, but certainly not a nine. Don't get me wrong, it's probably still my point of reference from other sites, but a nine implies near-perfection, and this, sadly, was not. You're getting closer to it, but you're not there yet. I'd say that very few are. |

- I didn't say I read a report rated 10 that sucked, just one that was not as good as this one
- I won't provide a link cos it's more likely to start some kind of flamewar than anything else :)
- Generally speaking I've read several 10 reports without any kind of humour, and for my personal tastes dry reports should never get more than, say, 7. That's why I consider here it's a matter of taste if the report gets a 8 or a 9.
- The only big "flaw" I pointed out was the minimap one, and I'd say it's what costs him the 10.
- Finally, rating works well only if you get a significant number of ratings (on this site the magic number seems to be 5). Right now the report gets a 9 because only one person rated it. Throw in one or two 8s and maybe the final rating will be closer to the truth? But I can't say it was a mistake to rate 9, in some raters' eyes it's worth 9 and for some others it'll be worth 7-8. |

What's the lowest a report can get and still be gold? Seven? That's what I think this report should get. It rises above the crap-flooding that has been plaguing BR.com as of late, but it is the bottom of the gold-worthy variety.
Furthering on my last comment, let me be more clear. Bob-the-Ghoul is a cute idea, just poorly executed. Give him more antics next time and he'll be more memorable. |
