Seriously though, the typical two-week demagogue of battlereports.com is usually someone who can't use commas but spends 30+ hours in photoshop making it all look nice. It's a rarity these days that someone can hold the pen and make both a flowing, grammatically correct report and still put up time-spent pictures as well. This is the first report other than Eldritch's "Escape Velocity" series I've read in quite a while, and I wasn't disappointed.
That being said, the big-picture style wasn't my bag, baby -- and the game (Warcraft 3) really wasn't either. When Frozen Throne comes out with the revamped gameplay, hopefully doing to Warcraft what Brood Wars did to Starcraft, you'll see what I mean. But until then, I give this an "eight point nine" with my blessing (cmon, it was like 10 minutes long!).

I like how you did the borders on your pictures (black fade at the borders, lightning-like rip, complete fade from one pic to another), but then that's probably because I don't have photoshop or PSP to play around with =[. I agree with endersshadow that skipping right through battles made for not-as-interesting reading, but then you had some humor in there that made up for it. I especially liked the "How to kick human's ass - just three easy steps."
As usual, your picture placement and html is excellent, and that really adds to the look of the report. |

It seems to me that sometimes we'll watch or play a game that feels exciting and brilliant but then when we put it down in writing that tense micromanagement and urgency doesn't really feel as if its been retained in the report. There aren't too many great games out there, or rather, I think there's a very small percentage of games that are played that end up being great games. Anyways, I guess I'm saying that the game was probably very exciting to play, but it doesn't seem all that great on paper. It's one of those micromanagement games that made it good to play. |

pics were very pretty but not really useful for seeing what was happening. Descriptions were really minimalist, a lot of little things were left out. Humour fell flat on occasion, but the HC nod on the backdrop to the 3 easy steps to own humans was very cool, too bad you misspelled liquor.
bottom line: this report and it's pictures deserved a lot more text. It felt kinda glazed over, like you were in a hurry to tell us all about it and move onto the next topic. Good battlereports are digested slowly and savoured. |

Very macro-orchidistic report Ling. I like your humour (was that Mark IV's shopping list u used?) What you do with the pics is great, but it can't hide the fact that WC3 screenshots are like scanning the bar for girls after u come in from the cold with glasses on: ie. you know it's there, but can't see it.
Your writing style lends itself for more text (less time-consuming?) but prolly, as graphical designer and such that's not your main interest. BTW does your being a rater now means, the comments get longer or what? |

Ling! Awesome! Who says this game was short? What are you expecting? Starcraft? Blah! Warcraft is a much faster paced game, thus faster paced action. Thats what Blizzard was aiming for. So deal with the shortness, you'll probably encounter a lot from this type of game.
Anyways, Psyonic~Ling is getting older. As such...Give me more money so he'll be well fed while I'm gone the next 2 years...Unless you want the poor little bugga.

Nope, the way I understood it, zerg~ling will just stop making numeral BRs, there will never be "BR Number 31" but he will make BRs with special names, like other reporters do.
I am not really impressed with that decission, one of those little things that make Ling reports what they are is their cute non-inventive names ;) |

I was hoping for Raiders by the endgame, since that's how I won against a chim-rushing NE back in 1.03 days (ensnare + 3/3 berserk grunts + lvl 3 endurance aura ='d gg chims), but then again I'm probably among a handful of w3 players that ever built a Beastiary.
Dialtone might have better spent his money on speed building offensive barracks instead of towers for a bit of footmen frolicking, but hindsight is always 20/20. |
