Well. Well.. Well...
Axis and Allies is a good game, but if you intend on getting a decent rating don't just skip to the end of the game and summarize. For instance what if I said,
"This report features Boxer and Nada. Boxer started with a Depot/Rax block and then he beat Nada in a pincer Tank Push."
Thats not a very good report, and thats kind of what your report seems like : / |

Not bad for your first report. For some reason, I am in a pleasant mood, so I will offer some game advice that you asked for.
As Japan:
You played absolutely perfectly. ALWAYS double team Russia. Every successful game will usually end up with Japan owning 90% of Asia. Doing anything else ends in defeat, (unless you are playing very crappy opponents)
Good rule of thumb; Japan does the flying while Germany does the dying. Unless the Germans are getting INSANELY good rolls, they probably won't be able to take Russia. They will, however, have so many units posing a threat to it, that Russia will be unable to send any units to stop Japan. A gutsy Russian player might try sending a tank or a few planes to it's immediate American held border, bolstering its defense enough so that the Factory strategy your friend tried, would be more successful. If the Russian player is free to send reinforcements to this factory a SECOND time, Japan's balls will be in a vice.

Damn, why didn't my name appear?
Anyway,
As Germany:
You also did very well.
On the first turn, Germany has the ability to sink every allied vessel nearby, (except for the American fleet), and it is usually a good idea to do this. The British player will have to put all resources into ships to ensure that ANY of them will survive a second attack. Even then, you should still have the ability to sink their fleet a second time. It is a huge setback for the British when they can't help Russia in any way for up to 4 turns.
Africa is always hit or miss. A couple tanks down there can be an easy way to snag up between 4-9 IPC. Most Allied players will let you have it, because they know the best course of action is to besiege Germany itself and not get bogged down in other areas. If they do devert units to Africa, feel free to let out a maniacal laugh, because you just got 2 free turns of safety for the Fatherland.

Fortress Karelia (sp) is always the supreme target, and an absolute must if you want any shot at taking Russia. Worth 3 IPC, a useful strategic position, and home to about 70% of the Russian army most of the time, make it a huge target. The last thing you want is for Russian armor to have only 1 space between them and your capitol. Bypassing it and going straight for Russia through the Caccasus is always an option, but ALWAYS be weary of a Russian counter-attack into Eastern Europe. Allied players can be willing to trade one of their capitols for one of yours, since you will be hurt far more when the dust settles.
Ok, pleasant mood over. |

| Thanks for the SHITLOAD of advice and comments you gave me, Kadabra. I have been playing this game for a while, but I have to disagree with endershadow on #10. You know as well as I that Axis and Allies can go through 10-15 rounds, and it would take, literally, forever to record them all down, and nobody would read the report. Well, so long, and keep posting those comments. |

I liked the report actually. I've played that game before (as Germany) and ended up winning. 2 things that kinda annoyed me:
1st: The HTML format wasnt quite 'fitting' the site. Stuff like that ruin the viewers reading pleasure and almost always end up in a bad rating.
2nd: Sorry to tell you so, but I abso-fuckin'-lutely HATE your new nick. Impersonating Adolf Hitler isnt funny, nor does it show you maturity or intelligence. It just shows that your dumb. If you wanna name yourself after a German military Genius from World War 2, name yourself 'Rommel' or 'Wuestenfuchs' (Desertfox), he was a brilliant strategist and even respected amongst his opponents. Hitler was just a lunatic with a self-esteem problem
Apart from that: Keep up the good work and bring a digital cam to your next session and make some pictures, that'd add a lot to the report.

Der Fuhrer doesn't just mean Hitler, but also means "the leader" in German. I personally like Germany the best myself, and I believe that title is appropriate for the circumstances. Anyway, thanks for reading the report, and the page fitting problem will be solved next time.

Well, I happen to be German and so I know what "Der Führer" means. 'Führer' is kinda odd though, cuz it really is connected to what Hitler called himself. The Leader would be translated with "Der Anführer" nowadays. Führer is more like 'guide' than like 'leader'.
So do whatever you want, but dont try to teach me German ;)

As long as he doesn't call himself Hitler2004; his name doesn't bother me, but good background info on the wording you guys. I'll be making my comeback to battlereports within a week. I forgot how damn long it could take putting a report together. Of course, my old reports were all satire and had 0 pictures... so maybe that's it.
Axis & Allies has always been a great game. If you haven't already, check out the MSN gaming zone. Lots of A&A players hang out there.
And board game fans should check out A&A: Europe and A&A: Pacific; both games focusing on one area of the world. New rules, new units, pretty damn fun if you can find people that will play. |

It's not unusual to have an average 5 day lull in action, followed by several reports over the course of 2 days, then another lull.

I'd have to disagree Der. I mean, it may seem tedicious but thats what reporting is. If you take a few hours (I've spent a lot more than a few on some of mine) you'll come up with enough information to write a report. I don't exactly remember whether there was a capture picture button on that game, but if there was you should make pictures. If not, just improve your writing. I don't forsee your reports getting worse, only better.
Don't count on good ol' BlueRibbon making a happy easter report. It would take the alignment of the planets for that to happen. Oh wait... doesn't that happen soon?

I don't have the game on PC, so I don't know if you can do this or not.
Start up a game of A&A. Once you are on the area you want to take a picture of, press the Print Screen button.
If you can, press the window button (or Alt+Tab, depending on your keyboard). If it will let you, it should take you back out to your desktop, while leaving the game running in a window.
Now you can start up photoshop, paint, or whatever picture program you have on your pc.
Now, either right-click your mouse and hit paste, or go to File/Edit/other and click paste. It should paste the screengrab. Now you can save it, and upload for your report. Once you're done, click on the A&A window and go back to the game.
But like I said, I don't know if A&A will let you do that. |

| Axis and Allies is at its best when 4 or more are playing. Many Middle School nights were spent in my friends basement playing this game in the 80's. This would make a decent PC game if it was done correctly. I purchased the POS that was Axis and Allies when it was first released and it was awful. If you can still find it on the web, a superior game called "Dogs of War" (not the recent title of the same name) was released. DOW was coded and released prior to a cease and Desist order was issued by Hasbro. Search for it on your favorite p2p network or on google. Same EXACT board, set up, units, and IPC prices. In fact, it is the only game (besides Ultima Underground) that I have installed on all my incarnations of Windows since 'workgroups 3.1'. |
