After over 60 reports submitted, a double post. We all make mistakes :)
Not very into poker, so lost interest pretty quickly - no rating from me. |

| I'll have to read this in an hour, but I was thinking a few weeks ago of doing a poker battlereport. This looks great. |

I'm not a huge fan of poker, but I still managed to read this straight through. It was a fun change from the ordinary.

I haven't played enough to recognize all the terms (poker newbie? Yes. Not terms people usually think in... hmm), but I followed most of it. Good job. Oh, and congrats on the win.

Rawkz. I was glad to see the italicized !s.
The writing was good, although the terms could've used a little explanation. Hard-coding was decent, nothing was broken, and the layout was solid. Can't really fault you for that or the images (props for using mozilla.)
A good game, too. Nice comback at the end.
I'm gonna slap an 8 on this. Good work. |

"...Ace/Crap off suit."
I really enjoyed this report. There seemed to be a lot of odd calls from some of the players, but it was exciting until the very end when I saw you flopped two pair. If I were a rater I'd give this an easy 9 for trying something new and giving a solid run-through of the game. Nice job winning $100 too. |

| Good report... but next time explain how blinds work at the beginning of the report. I think I had it figured out at the end, but not knowing was a bit annoying. Not that you need to go through all the rules of poker, but just something that weekend dime-ante players aren't going to know. |

Wtf... GG Me for posting on the other one..
This was really entertaining. Poker is something I enjoy as a fun thing and not a money thing, but then again whenever I play half the people are drunk, making it pretty easy to get some nice payoffs, if you consider bringing in 20 and leaving with 40-50 nice. |

| #17 .Praetor[153875] |
| c-67-172-163-127.client.comcast.net |
| It's not the gradually increasing blind amounts that had us confused... it's the basic rule itself. What, exactly, is a blind. Why is it there? Like I said, I think I got it from your report, but it doesn't come up wihen you learn poker from dime-ante 7-stud with friends. |
| #18 endersshadow[153877] |
| ool-182d2f86.dyn.optonline.net |
| Blinds are bets two players are forced to put into the pot before the start of every hand. Blinds are there to start the pot and nudge players along on playing hands they might otherwise fold (since they're already in). |

True Story.
I applied once in college to be a DJ at a country music radio station. They asked me what song most epitomized country music and I said "Kenny Rogers - The Gambler". Needless to say, I didn't get hired. :-( |

| I'm not very much into poker (only have a small one myself), so at first I skipped your report. But later when I changed I mind, I found it to be a true battlereport. Too bad I didn't know what blinds are (besides being probably really bad at playng cards). |

Very solid report. Decent writing, great game, clear images. I'm a fan of blackjack, as are alot of people who visit this site, so there's no doubt you chose your gametype well.

If a person was not into poker I doubt they would understasnd this which is why I skimmed most of it. Still the pictures were a nice touch not to mention obvious points for being in the HOF.
A solid 7 in my poor ass opinion then again you are Drefsab nor am I rater so my opinion means nothing.
I hope you begin to write again as I enjoyed your past reports. |

His luck was in, as he said, the fact that his opponents weren't very good either. ;)
I dunno what the IP would be for a military connection in Iraq, but I would guess that it's not Mark. |

Entertaining even though I've never played poker in my life [sixth grade camp doesn't count, i'm pretty sure we made up rules].
Is Th == 2h? What the heck are runners? Other than those two questions most of the stuff I could pick up as I read along. You made what I thought of as a boring game suddenly interesting and involving. It's not starcraft, but it'll do I 'spose ;)
8 for the man who gave me my first rating so many years ago. Welcome back dref, if only for a few hours! |
#44 [154023] |
| 12-223-249-46.client.insightbb.com |
Th = ten of hearts
2h = two of hearts
An example of needing runners would be if, after the flop, your opponent had 3 aces and you had 6, 7, 8. There are two more cards to come and you need both of those cards to help make your straight (9 and 10) to win the hand. When you need runners, your odds of winning the hand are very low. |

LOL, nice.
1. Ignore all the noobs who don't watch tournament poker on TV. There are websites that teach you how to play poker...
2. Nice battle report, I enjoyed it.
3. I just won a tournament with my friends when I was in second place with 23 chips. The leader had 277 chips -_-;; the blinds were 10/20
I went all-in three times and he folded giving me the blinds. That gave me enough chips to be able to bet more freely and I got a few nice hands...
I knew to bait my opponent I needed to bet the minimal bet on the flop, and the minimal bet on the turn would be always called because he would wait for a top pair. Then he wouldn't call my minimal bet on the river if he didn't get anything. But if he did, I could score a lot of chips if I had a straight or a flush.
Lesson: never give up |
