I was holding out for a game that had a "grand finale" so to speak, and I think this game was it. Honestly ^KnightLisa^, that game where you beat me on Cross the Line would have been the best to report due to some really cool screenshots. (if I had remembered to take them) =(

I used to have terrible problems with the offensive cannonim maneuver, until I discovered that one (1!) sunken colony stops a cannon push cold.
It's when they're suddenly firing on your drones without warning that you're in real trouble...
How did he get the cannons so close to yer base? What direction did he try to push from? Just curious. Oh, and you were looking for practice, right? Seems you could have really mowed him down with hydras N zerglings before he ever got any of them units. I'm thinking you were just trying to teach him a lesson...

He came at me from the assimilator side, and lost some probes and some hydras at home. He had a little cluster of cannons and 2 dragoons/zealot protecting the rest of his base. There was a shield battery or two. Fortunately, his defense at home kept him from using too many cannons at my base, and you are right, it would have stopped at my sunkens. The lateness of the push shocked me, since I thought he was contained.
You are right, I could have built a decisive force of lings and hydras, or just used cracklings and defilers... I wanted to be efficient for a change (just like I might be with Protoss) though, and suspected that he had a few archons and reavers hidden... it turned out that he didn't, but it was more fun to win with the ultras. Who would expect to see a zerg player only lose about 50 or so troops? At some point, every game is close to being "in hand" for one of the players, and the final battle must be planned... I knew that defilers would make the difference, so I figured, why not show him some zerg diversity? At least entertain him right? =) |

To Rhetard... I watched the rating all day, it went from 9.0 to 9.5 to 9.7 to 9.8 and then to 9.4, meaning I got a 9,10,10,10, and 8.5 from the judges. I guess it was a touch short, and my opponent wasn't the best player ever, so maybe that's why I got an 8.5 from someone... still gold is gold, and my new motto is, "If I can't beat them, I'll entertain them." |

I'd like to do the mother of all battle reports, a terran, zerg, protoss FREE FOR ALL! Featuring a top player at each race. To top that off, I'd like it to be, the first player to win 2 games wins. Map-1 WinterConquest, Map-2 DireStraights Map-3 Temple, Map-4 (if necessary) Forsaken Valley
The report would be long, and setting the games up and the report itself would take time, but I'll do it if there's interest. FFA games are often monstrous battles with the top level units. Picture this:
Heartcutter, Johnny_Vegas, or GhostLizard??? - Terrans
Mark4, .Praetor, etc... - Protoss
Whoop, Schizo, etc... - Zerg
