| Good game. With Ice Floes, I've found that the person who claims and holds the middle expansion first is almost always the one to win, because it provides an easy staging ground to all the other expansions. |

I concentrated on what I do best that game; containment and denial while using small numbers of highly cost-effective units. It's a good thing I was able to keep them alive, because I didn't expand nearly enough. Luckily the protoss have a huge amount of cost-effective anti-zerg stuff; corsairs, reavers, high templars, and archons.
Power overwhelming, baby. |

Nicely done Dev. Psi-storm is hell...unless you're playing protoss..then it's pure joy.
And ice floes is a blast of a map. I love it.
I like the work with the shuttled strike force...what did you use? I usually use 3 shuttles with 4 reavers, 1 dragoon & two high templar. I need to make more archons.
All the best,

Fractal:
For small, drone-slaughtering drops, I would use one shuttle with a reaver and an archon. If they needed backup, I'd use disruption web.
The larger attacks had 2 archons with 2 reavers (2 shuttles) or 2 archons with 4 reavers (3 shuttles). I actualyl didn't pack any high templar with the assault group. However, since I controlled the center base on Ice Floes, I could stage my templar support from there to great effect. It helped that I had the same strong fighter group the whole game... I tried to make them as omnipresent as possible.
If the map is large or island, I do it the stylish way: I sneak an escorted arbiter in the back door (using d-web) and just recall in twelve zealots, four reavers, and two templar. Full Arbiter Strike. (: |

A wonderfully written report. You do a very good job of capting and holding the reader's attention.
I just started playing BW (as opposed to SC) a few days ago. I played a very fun game as protoss v zerg on challenger, and eventually lost to dev/mutes beating my anti air, him broodlinging my temps, and coming in with guards. As air, I had about 10 corsairs and 4 carriers. His dev/mute combo just crushed that though. What is good vs dev/mute? scout/sair?
Also I never made archons in that game. I had forgotten how good they are vs zerg.
Thanks for the well written report!

Dev: I see...you're strike teams were lots smaller than mine...my finest moment was a big ol' game on Polaris Prime...where I interdicted at least 4 expansion attempts with the same team.
Dev's an Arbiter whore!!!!!!
;)
Anal-banana:
Dev/mute should ideally be psi-stormed or maelstromed(note to self. try using a dark archon some time...). if he's broodling your temps I'd recommend carriers & corsairs, like you did. But spread them out so that ye olde devourer spalsh hits as few carriers as possible...
Corsairs would own the muties...carriers or scouts would take out the devourers...
Hope this helped
All the best,

Great report! It sucked me right in, unlike some reports where the jokes are the best, i was hardly even looking at the formatting stuff! (hmmm, might have been because it was a riveting game...)
The pure punishment that Halo took in the form of psi storm and reaver drops is incredible, considering that the zerg survived it time and time again while still assembling further assault teams. |

Great game dev! And I love your style. You say that psi storm is laughably abusable, but only if you are good at it!! Whenever I use psi-storm, it is never to that effectiveness, and the templar usually dies =)

Hey praetor.. you really don't need to be good to abuse storm, even if the temp dies. If you storm randomly twice, you'll surely make up the cost of the temp, even if it dies!

| Yeah, I don't understand how people win with zerg. I guess the key for Zerg is to take the advantage early with a quick expansion than overpower the other guy with mass units. Psi-Storm stops this cold though. I never enjoyed zerg much, because of the insane macro you have to use to win. It's always more fun for me to use a small number of units to kill hordes. Like doing a quick 4 marine, 1 firebat, 3 medic drop and killing like 10 hydras and 10 lings, then standing behind the peon line out of sunken range and daring the peons to mine. Mauahahah! Nice report. |
