| Fantastic report! You have a great memory for detail. I have been using goliaths lately, they are great units. I especially like how they take down shuttles and dropships like nothing. Observers too. |

| Great report. I really enjoyed it. Now all you gotta do is add some screen shots ;) |

Great Report .Praetor,
Before we know it, Johnny will be building 6 factories instead of 6 barracks! =)

| Alita, I already DO build 6 factories. hehe |

They like me! They really, really like me! Ativus, thanks for the compliment. That's the sort of stuff that makes me feel really good =). By the way, where does your name come from? It sounds latin.
You can tell when a game is really good, and close, when both players stop thinking about the future, and ask "what can I do to them NOW?" This was definitely one of those games. I remember upgrading everything early game, like my sci vessels, and later on grudging the expense of cloaking for my ghost =).

| Wow GREAT report! I loved reading it Praet I really think it should have been ranked higher though... 8.5? The only reason it didn't get it probably was because of lack of pictures but when you write like this who needs 'em? |

Thanks Phun. Rereading the report, I think I'll explain a neat thing that happened with the AI at the 9:00 natural expansion. A few times during that game, I had golaiths ready at the top of the ramp, to respond to carriers from white or blue.
Anyway, when white would attack my cc at the 9:00 natural, interceptors are flying everywhere. In fact, they fly in range of the golaths on top of the ramp. The golaiths fire at them, of course, but then the interceptor moves back to the carrier.
Here's the fun part, since only a few interceptors made it that far, the golaiths would CHASE the interceptor down. Once the golaith got to the interceptor, which often died AFTER the golaiths were on their way (slow missiles), the golaiths were in range of the carriers, and started whaling on them.
It was a wierd function of odd pathings, targetings, and distances, but worked great for me!
White must have thought I had excellent response time =). |

| Excellent report! I've observed the goliath-carrier trick in the past, but never really noticed it was a rule. One thing about the game, did you research Lockdown? I bet it might have helped those poor overtaxed goliaths a bit versus the carriers. |
| #9 .Praetor (port-sac7.cwo.com)[7904] |
|
No ~CB~, I did not research lockdown. In fact the only upgrades for the ghost I got the entire game was cloaking. I don't think it would have helped for two reasons. One is that ghosts aren't as mobile as golaiths, so they won't always be in the right place. Lockdown has always been a sort of static defense for me.
Second is, for a large part of the game (after my natural gave out), I was working off of two or three depleted refineries only (natural, white's main, my main). I didn't have the gas for ghosts, when one and a half golaiths would be much more beneficial.

| Great FFA report as always. I too have become a huge fan of the Goliath. Nothin looks cooler than a nuke and a follow up 24 3/3 Goliath Attack. |

Wow, kickass report=) I would of loved to of seen some Carrier killing Goliaths though=] I sort of question why White didn't change strategies though... I mean, sending carriers after goliaiths isn't usually costeffective=]
Still though, nicely played game=)

Well, Blank, I forgot to mention this in the report, but White's stargates were all on his island, including his first ones. Not a bad idea, I do it myself occasionally.
So he probably already had carriers available, with no other tech, nor much room to build up to other tech. 'Course he did get a shuttle later on...
You're right in that he wasn't that great. |

Thing about goliaths is that they are really cheap units too... You can get 7 of them for every 2 carriers or something ridiculous, and they are good on the ground too, though not as good as goons vs ground.
Nice report. |
| #15 Soulsplitter' (spider-wg023.proxy.aol.com)[7935] |

| I agree with blank, he shoulda gotten zealots with speed to take the goliaths. You have to adapt to them. Even adapt to their adaptation like cb had in hid bp.nice report. |
| #16 YourRoleModel (relay.atinc.com)[7971] |
|
| Upgraded goliaths in mass aren't horrid vs zealots... due to the ranged unit in mass numbers vs melee units in numbers theory. |

A wonderful report on an underused unit....now that I've got Vulture production down, I'll start work on Goliaths.

All the best,

Great BR! Probably the best I've read here that didn't have pictures=]
BTW, Does anyone think it's funny that a good player like .Praetor won by swarming with one unit all game?
(Although I acknowledge the occasional use of other units in targeted attacks.)
Keep up the great work!=) |

Very well written, and a chillingly calculating ffa play as always, Preator. (From earlier reads.)
I am so bad with terran, but in ffa's I find medics and repairing scv's very cost-effective, as resources are often especially short in these games. Anyway, a picture is worth more than a thousand words, the old chinese saying goes. But seldom is a real picture comparable to the inner landscapes of a vivid imagination :) |

Heh, it's strange to read these comments and see Goliaths as "underused units."
This is your best one so far, by far.(although, I haven't started on your Pheonix Legion Chronicles yet) |

| Yeah, it took awhile for them to catch on even after they added charon boosters (additional air range). That's how much they sucked without charon boosters. |
