Not quite as good as your last one, but still good stuff. And the pictures are excellent.

We need to have a zerg on zerg showdown sometime
;P

All the best,

I may actually get the first comment the first time I reply, so hooray for me. =)

It was nice to read a good battle report with my personal favorite island strategy of an early Hydralisk drop, followed by severe map control. While HydraDropper didn't keep a watch over the whole map, like I try to, he did the next best thing in locating the enemy quickly and keeping the pressure on. With a level of pressure that high, the enemy is less capable of expanding much. At least that's my theory, and my record against NoHunters players is in the range of pitiful.

The report itself was styled well, and the section on enemy drops spotting each other comes across as a very familiar situation to me. Generally, I try to drop the Hydras under an enemy drop to slaughter their transports before they have a chance to react. Then pick up the, most likely, healthy band of Hydralisks and continue on to the enemy base.

As HydraDropper said, scouting and timing are incredibly important for this strategy to have any chance of success. On a good day I can get a twenty Hydralisk drop, with a few upgrades ready in the same ten minutes HydraDropper can. Of course, having that small army means nothing if you don't send them to the right place at the right time. I've found that out the hard way against Mark4 and other skilled players when I guessed wrong and didn't find the enemy base until the last place I looked.

Well, this was certainly a long comment, but seeing a good report on a strategy I like to use was a pleasure. Keep up the good work HydraDropper, and maybe we can face each other on an island map one day for a Hydralisk showdown.

Curse you Fractal_Wave for stealing the thunder from my debut comment! =) Still, a fun coincidence that you mention a Zerg on Zerg showdown. While I am not in the same league as the average NoHunters player, I'd be more than willing to play a part in such a battle.

Just another comment, but this report is one short of the thousandth report posted to this page. While it seems many were removed for various reasons, it's a good sign of the number of players and writers that contribute to the library of battle reports available both here, and in general on the Internet. For players such of myself, battle reports are often the best way to learn about other strategies as they can be seen in action, often from a player that has grown skilled in it's use. Reading about someone else's Hydralisk drop, for example, shows that some of my own ideas behind it are used by other players effectively.

I think I'm writing too much on too little here, so I'll stop now before I put people to sleep.

Actually, the reportnum thing is 199 off, the real number of reports is 800. Look on the main page. It was a well written report, but not a particularly exciting game. Please don't do like 20 reports all on HydraDrops....

Actually, this is report 999. Think about it, all the duplicates and idiot games that were removed.

Anyway, very nice BR and good strat. Do you ALWAYSuse it?

Ugh, wrong key and then instant reaction. Damn that Tab- spa...
