This is the tale of the first battle Weremuppet and I have had since arriving at college. So, with great T1 connections we had no lag, and soon attracted two worthy foes to our 2v2 Sherwood Forest game.

Setup:
Map: Sherwood Forest 192x192

Team Werecreature:
Weremuppet White Zerg NW
Wererhynadon (me): Blue Protoss W

Team Enemy:
Opponent1 O1 (yes he had a real name but it was long and had silly symbols in it): Red Terran S
Opponent2 O2 (ditto) : Brown Terran NE

Well, I didn't take any screenshots and failed miserably in my attempt to generate a position map but here is the report without happy pictures.

The game started with O1 begging us not to rush. A bad sign as usually those who beg for such mercy are either aweful or trying to do a nasty tech rush. Needless to say, Weremuppet sent 12 zerglings at him as soon as possible. Strangely enough, O1 was more than well prepared for a fast rush with two filled bunkers (no firebats but marines can stop zerglings just fine). He was furious that he had been rushed but I kindly informed him that he smacked the rush up and he settled down. More for amusement's sake although there was a deeper strategic thought behind this (yeah right) I gave him six zealots. These took out a bunker and its crew but since there were three bunkers at the choke now, they died too. O2 hadn't done squat as far as we could tell and Weremuppet had overlords and burrowed zerglings at most expansion sights.

Now, I said that there was a reason for my pointless rush and I really did mean it. Usually when mediocre (did I spell that right???) players get hit by two rushes they become paranoid and fortify their choke to the exclusion of all rational playing strategy. Hoping that O2 was doing the same, Weremuppet and I teched up. I went for reaver tech first and sent observers around while expanding to the north and south of my main. Weremuppet expanded as well to the east of his base and south of O2's base and teched to ULTRALISKS. Our scouts discovered the enemy's expansion attempts and a quick hydralisk strike took out O1's in the SE. But, O2 succeded in expanding in the East. No matter though, my strike was ready and my observer over O1's main showed a sad sight. His choke was fortified to resist anything but he had nothing in the back of his base. In went my three shuttles loaded with fully upgraded reavers, with a support force of 4 zealots and 1 dragoon upgraded to about 2-1-2. Needless to say the back of his base was almost completely hollowed out before he emptied his bunkers and futilely charged marines at three reavers who slaughtered them all in pools of blood. His wraith force was more trouble and could have stopped the attack if he had attacked my dragoon instead of one of the reavers. While they pounded the reaver, the dragoon took them all out. His attempt to fly some buildings away succeeded as the dragoon couldn't get them all in the red but at the loss of the reavers and 1 zealot, I had destroyed his entire main base with all of its forces and static defenses. I charged the remaining ground forces out and kept them near an untaken expansion slot to keep them usefull. Meanwhile, I expanded again to a mineral only slot in the SW center of the map.

Now came the final portion of the game, hunting down the last of O1 and slaughtering the essentially untouched O2. O1 was now hiding with O2 in the east while O2 had expanded again to the SE. But, they had a new fate in store for them. O2's main suddenly found itself charged by 12 fully upgraded ULTRALISKS much to my roommate's delight. Despite having a fortified, elevated position, his little marines in bunkers couldn't do squat and his secret weapon, a small, unupgraded Battlecruiser fleet was elsewhere (probably about to attack one of us) and came back to slow. With a loss of half their numbers, the Ultralisk smashed his main and then charged into the eastern double base. There they completed another slaughter though none survived the Battlecruiser's wrath. One last base was left. O1 had surrendered after my dark templar smashed another of his expansion attempts, but O2 had a battlecruiser fleet and a small economy going. We decided to be mean. I shuttled 6 Dark Archons and 2 dragoons in. Weremuppet sent in a brutal Hydralisk/defiler combo while keeping a scourge ambush force outside to deal with escaping buildings. I was teching up to a small fleet at this point as well, mainly corsairs and scouts to help the scourge ambush. Anyway, I mind controlled 3 battlecruisers, a marine, and an SCV though I lost two dark archons and a dragoon (and 2 of the BC's but who cares they weren't mine really). The defilers plagued everything then hid the hydralisks under dark swarm for another dreadful slaugher. As expected, he tried to float buildings to safety. One was scourged and the other was hit by my fleet. Our brave foe had one last hope for victory. A tiny mineral only base in the Northeast center of the map. My scouts hit it first then hydralisks mashed it to rubble.
Another shipreck for the world maggot furnace.

Like always I'll write down some lessons from this game.

1) College Network connections rock

2) Futile rushes aren't always futile if they make your opponents overfortify their chokes to the exclusion of their rear.

3) Ultralisks are great fun and can break most choke points.

4) The defiler hydralisk combo is absolutely frightening if done well.

That is all for now. Sorry I forgot once again to take screenshots. Anyway, see you on battle.net.
