| 1v1 On temple, sure death.... | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 05/17/99 04:05 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | Starcraft(1), Text Only(1) | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 6, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for [IceBerG]: 6.5600 | | Well this was one of the most satisfying(sp?) games I have played in a while. I joined a game of 1v1 Temple and the checked the stats of the host, 28-0! Oh man, this is gonna suck. Well I start out at the 3 spot with terran, found him at 9 as protoss. Well I was using a new nick with a record of 2-0 and he asks if I am any good. I tell him that I am, "alright" which his remark was, "Cool!". He then asks me to "bare" with him, he's trying a new strat. Well by scouting I found he had 3 gates up and I figured a rush was imminent. My build was like this:
CCCC
CCCC
BBBB|SSS|BBBB|SSS|BBBB|SSS|BBBB
B= Raxs
S= Depot
I then decided to upgrade my troops which was the decision that allowed me to win my game. Once I built my bay, I threw 3 turrets up. One in front of the raxs and 2 behind. I then went for vultures? From scanning him, I had found he was massing zeals... I mean "MASSING". I decided to mine all over my base, and a few various spots on the map. I then saw his movement towards my base. I sat still and watched. His zeals were literally torn to peices by the 15-20 mines I had layed out. Eventually there were about 8-9 zeals and a few dt's that made it through. Well just as soon as I thought I was in for it, my meds saved the day. They "popped" out of the raxs and allowed my troops to withstand the assult. I scanned again and found he had switched to reavers, and was attempting to expand at 6. I sent 12 marines and held outside of his base until the nexus warped. I then loaded up 2 vultures and 4 firebats and sent them on a drop to his main. He had no cannons, which I love to see for drops. As I took down his expansion attempt, I switched to wraiths and tanks and attempted to expand to top left. I looked to my drop and found it had been VERY successfull and I began to lay mines from the 2 vultures. Soon the mines were detonated and did their job before my drop was thwarted. To avoid any "surprises" on my expansion, I sent 6 wraiths to guard it. At this point he drops 6 reavers on my main. Well I had one mine that did some damage(more to my scvs), and a tank in range. When my wraiths finally made it back to the main, he called a "gg".
Whew, the report didn't give the game justice, it really was a gg. His troops would have easily cut through mine if it were not for the mines. I basically set the pace of the game towards the terrans strengths. Set up a good, non-static d, and recon for counters. Also keep checking for expansions. Terrans are the worst race for detection, but argueably the best for recon (mines, scans, cloaked wraiths, fast vultures, etc..). I was able to make his attack EXTREMLY costly w/o doing too much damage. Oh well, if you're looking for a gg, look up (m)att. He was pretty cool too. Oh yeah, his record is still spotless.. ;-) i couldn't do that to someone- ally vic'd. |
