Before we begin, this is the first Battle Report that I have ever written. Also, I tend to jump to defense right away so I really like all the resources in this map.
The game was supposed to be a 2on2 match, but no one showed up after Any_Name, so we decided to make it a 1on1. He said he was a newbie, which made me happy because I am not so great myself. Anyway, he drew Terran and I chose Protoss. I started out by building a pylon on my 7th probe. As soon as that was finished I constructed a Gateway and Forge, soon followed by a Refinery. I now had three Zealots on the way.
Soon I expanded down and to the right. I threw up about 5 cannons and then began building more probes once my Nexus had finished warping. Once I had enough resources I made about 4 more cannons and sent 2 Zealots and a Dragoon over.
Meanwhile back at my main I had a Cybernetics Core, tons of cannons and a Starport. I also have some Zealots and Dragoons.
By now he brings some marines and Siege Tanks down. He puts the tanks in Siege mode and starts shooting at me from above my expansion. I'm not too worried. I kill off the tanks and marines with Zealots and Dragoons and he only destroyed 2-3 cannons.
After a little while I expand again and have just about every building. He brings down another attack like the previous one except larger. I order more Zealots and Dragoons and send the ground units that I have to defend my expansion. Basically the same thing happens: I kill the attack with my Zealots and Dragoons and a Psi Storm and only lose a few cannons.
By this time I've sent off upgraded observers and find his location. I am amazed to see that he hasn't expanded at all. He really MUST be a newbie! Anyway, he sends down more tanks, marines, and some Goliaths. Also he sets up a bunker and leads my defense toward it. Now he is targeting my main base. I have neglected to build more land units so I send my
two carriers out to defend against the tanks. After that I began building up my air force. I sent out some preliminary ground attacks with Dragoons, Zealots, High Templars, and Reavers, but nothing major happened.
Then I took about four Carriers, 7 Scouts and one Observer to attack from the South. It was pretty mush over right away. I quickly killed off all the ghosts for fear of lockdown (which never occurred) and destroyed all the missile turrets. He had about 8 Battle Cruisers and they disappeared quickly. So quickly, in fact, I was quite surprised but didn't think too much of it. Soon, however, I was confused why after I had killed all the units that could attack me and was just finishing off the mass of buildings I kept hearing "We are under attack!" I then glanced down at my main base to see it being wailed on by 6 of his Battle Cruisers. So THAT's where they'd gone! I quickly sent my ships down to counter him and soon they were destroyed.
He said: "Well good game."
Me:"Yeah, gg."
Him:"I gave it my best."
Me:"Yeah, keep practicing. You should have expanded."
Him:"Did you expand?"
Me:"Twice."
Him:"Ok. Next time. :)"
Me:":)"
He left.
Lesson learned: Expand! And do it as fast as you can. I had more minerals than I knew what to do with!
