THE SOGGY PHOENIX by Warphead
This game took place a while back. It was initially a 2v2 that I'd created, but when a fifth person joined and asked to play, I kindly stepped down so I could write a battle report about how crap all the others where. =) Aren't I a nice guy?
Anyway, the Setup :
| The Map : Dark Temple | Team 1 [-slayer-] as Zerg at 9:00 GhOsT~LiZarD as Terran at 6:00 | Team 2 Bob_the_Newt as Terran at 12:00 Phoenix(PATH) as Protoss at 3:00 |
[-slayer-] started off with a pretty usual 9-Pool, and both Terrans elected the standard double Barracks opening. They build symetrically until they diversified, GhOsT~LiZarD by building an academy and Bob_the_Newt by building a 3rd Barracks.

| The most amazing build, however, was definitely Phoenix(PATH)'s, who amazed, awed and frightened me (for his sake) by going Assimilator first, then Pylon and 3, count them ladies and gentlemen, one two THREE gateways simultaneously...
Now, I felt it necessary at this point to wonder WTF he was up to... I mean, I'm no real expert but I was pretty sure the way Phoenix(PATH) had painted a target across his forehead would not pay off. Sure enough, when the first attack came (on him, naturally), some of [-slayer-]'s Zerglings were able to sneak past Phoenix(PATH)'s Zealots and do this : |
 | Watch as <== that goes to this ==> |  |
As you can see, his economy was savaged.
Yeah, man. You're screwed. Not content with this astute observation, Phoenix(PATH) decided to inform his ally of his next long term strategy.
No, really? =) Note that to this date, he still has never told us whether or not he builds peons at the start =P
Obviously not as amused by Phoenix's comments as me, or maybe intent on putting the poor guy out of his misery, GhOsT~LiZarD marches on the invalid Protoss.
Oblivious to this impending attack, and obviously with WAY too much time on his hands while rebuilding his peons, Phoenix(PATH) decides to lend his vast strategic knowledge to his ally. =)

Unfortunately for us, this vast, uncontrolled flow of raw wisdom was interrupted when GhOsT~LiZarD RUDELY knocked down Phoenix(PATH)'s front door.
Those LiZarDs, no manners. =) Phoenix(PATH) once again takes the time to tell us something we already knew. =)
Things are looking bad until the cavalry arrives, in the form of Bob_the_Newt's imposing army of marines and vultures.

Bob manages to win a Phyrric victory.
Team 2's dire position is accentuated when [-slayer-] marches his new, unscathed army towards his enemies, supported by GhOsT~LiZarD's reinforcements. Seeing this attack with scouts, Phoenix(PATH) puts into action his ingenious counter-strategy.
That's right, he BEGS (or prays) that his opponents don't attack him. =) Ah well, it's probably more effective than his Build Orders. =)
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the map, two scouting SCVs bump into an enemy Zergling.
Bets anyone? My money's on the Zergling.
D'OH!
Anyway, needless to say Team 1's combined might is enough to raze Phoenix(PATH) down to the ground.
Phoenix(PATH), even in this near-death state, STILL summons the energy and strength required to make some more completely obvious observations. =)
With Phoenix out of the game, victory is at hand for Team 2. [-slayer-] decides to test Bob_the_Newt's air defenses with a newly spawned Mutalisk flock...
...but runs into some heavy resistance and runs away like the coward he is. =)
Bob_the_Newt responds in kind...
Make that Bob_the_Newt responds unkindly. =)
Team 1 try to assault Bob_the_Newt's base, but the Blues hold their own and defeat their enemy...
... but the weight of numbers begins to tell...
Despite this, however, Team 1 fail to bring Bob down, so instead rely on cunning...
Under cover from a second attack, these Lurkers run into Bob's base, burrow, and seal his fate.
Indeed, "meanie poos" is the only attack that Bob can throw at his opponents while his SCV line is butchered.
The game is over, and Bob surrenders with "gg"s resounding all around.
Afterword
I just want to say that I hope Phoenix doesn't take anything personally, and that all this is meant in good humour. It's just that I couldn't resist transmitting the hilariously obvious comments he was making. Otherwise, here is the traditional...
Lessons Learnt
- Never play with Phoenix on your team. =) Seriously though, your build was COMPLETELY unsuited to a 2v2 on a land map. =( You took an amazingly unorthodox BO and all that happened was the natural execution of Darwin's theory of the survival of the fittest...
- Slayer and Ghost could have probably done more damage if they'd coordinated their early attacks better. Although they were doing this later on, the first two attacks on Phoenix, if combined, would have definitely sealed his fate.
- Never make stupid comments around me. =)
- Notepad rules for making HTML
- Tripod can kiss my ass
Well that's about it... I can't think of anything else to say so I won't. =O Enjoy...
