The Players--

MuLLay{Sky}--Protoss at 3:00

I don't remember his name, so it will be Dragon (it is what he called dragoons)

Dragon--Protoss at 9:00

This is my first Battle Report, but I have read many a report from here. I would not write this report other than the simple fact that I WON!!! This is my first win on ladder, so please understand if it may seem one-sided.

I start off this game with my normal, messed-up, build orders. I make probes until 8, when make a pylon. Continue with probes until 10 when I make one gateway. I scout with this probe up to 12:00. No such luck there. Back at home I have made one zealot and am training another with a pylon and a gateway warping in. After they are done warping in I train a zealot from each gate and warp in an assimilator.

My probe continues counter-clockwise to 9:00 and finds his base. He has 2 gateways, 2 pylons, an assimilator, and a forge...with a cybe core warping in. He hasn't made any offensive units yet. So...I decide on a genious plan and send my 4 zealots to his base to cause trouble, and start to warp in a cybernectics core.

My zealots arrive at his base to be greeted by...a pylon and 2 cannons warping in. I tell my zealots to attack the pylon to stop the cannons. They easily destroy the pylon, but are then greeted by 2 goons. I am able to kill one before he backs off the other towards a cannon he has by his gateways...which is conveniently place as far from the nexus as possible. WooHOO!! Open season for probes. I send my zeals in there to kill as many probes as they can. In a last ditch effort to save probes, he takes one goon to go attack the zeals and retreats back towards the cannon, where my zeals would follow. Two goons popped out of the gateway and try to rip apart my zeals. I take the zeals, put them in the probe line, and am able to kill about 5 probes before they die to the goons.

Mini-Battle Report

MuLLay{Sky}--Lost 4 zealots

Dragon--Lost 1 goon, 1 pylon, 2 cannons(he may have canceled), and about 7 probes

Winner--MuLLay{Sky}

I bring my attention back to my main and natural, which I secured during the skirmish. Dragon decided to send me a love note which read: 'You fu**ing rusher!!' I laughed heartily, knowing I had PISSED HIM OFF!!! Score one for the good guy. I got my natural fully on-line with 2 cannons protecting it and 4 zealots in front of them. I added a gate to make my count 3. I also decided to tech towards temps so I put down a citadel. I added a cannon in my probe line in case of a drop. I made some more zeals and goons and put them in front of my choke. The Citadel was complete so I put down my Archives. I thought of all the cannons he was making so I thought maybe it would be a good idea to get gay-web. My Starport went down. Another gate went down to bring my count to 4. I was wondering if he expanded yet, so I sent my scouting probe out. AHHH!!!! It died went it got about halfway there by about 10 goons, OMG he wanted to attack...I am ready for that. I merge two temps into an archon because psi storm wasn't researched yet. Here came the goons!!! My 8 zeals went in first with my 5 goons backing them up...all my zeals died!! What is up with that!!! Ahhh...he had a little more than 10 goons, my scouting probe must have missed them. He had about 17 goons, oh well, no big whoop. My zeals and goons were able to kill about 10 before he ran the remaining away. My archon had finished merging so it, with my 4 goons that were alive, killed the remaining goons which just hid around the corner. I had made 4 more goons from my gates to help protect for any more goons that may come. I added two more gates, a fleet beacon, and a couple pylons with the excess money I had after the small battle. I flew over the natural cliff with the one corsair that I had produced to protect from any turbo-newbies with goons.

There was a long lull in action as I built my army and I don't know what he did. I made more gates and pylons as I saw I needed them and made mostly goons with some templar. I scouted the other two mains to see if he expanded there...nope. Hmmm...well, I guess I will start an expansion at 6:00. I looked over my army of about 24 goons, 2 archons, 5 templar, and 5 corsairs with gay-web, and smiled. Time to attack his natural which I assumed was up and running by now. I attack-moved my forces to the middle of the map and used one goon to see what was over there...hmmm...a nexus, a pylon, about 5 probes, and an assimilator, this won't be too tough. I took my scouting goon and put him in the probe line while I went to get the rest of my forces. With the one goon I had inside his natural, I saw his forces, about 15 goons, coming down his ramp to protect the natural. One of his probes tried desperately to set down a pylon with 5 cannons, I better go attack. Our forces met hard in the front of his natural. I gay-webbed the incoming cannons to make sure they don't interfere, and backed away my corsairs. There was plenty of blue goo that day...luckily, most of it was his. I completely razed his natural and without much difficulty and set my troops there to contain. I was scrolling down the screen to my 6:00 natural when I passed by something awkward coming down his ramp. Dark Templars!!! Without anything that would allow me vision to see them I retreated back to my main base where there were cannons. SANCTUARY!!! I killed all his DT's, about 4, while only losing one goon, things were looking good.

I had plenty of minerals coming in, I laid down more gates, and brought my total to 10. "I macroed like a whore" at my main and put up two cannons at my 6:00 expansion to protect it...he still hasn't scouted it yet, though. Dragon decided to send me another message: "Nothing works. You are too good." I read it, and was glad. I needed observers to combat Dark Templars so I put my robotics factory and observatory down at my 6:00 main. I took all of my forces to the middle of the map again, this time with observers, and waited for my remaining troops to come out of my gates. I maxed out supply, and destroyed his main. Not much too tell here. I did see what structures he had, though, for the first time after the opening. He had 5 gates and all the tech buildings except for the ones down Starport lane, but then I got scared...

Dragon said something that I didn't catch...and a discconect screen came up. I was ready to go wee-wee in my pants. My first win and he was going to disconnect. Ahh, but the gods looked down at me with gleeful eyes, and Dragon never disconnected. I destroyed his base and all my goons got drunk sipping the blue goo of the enemy.

Lessons Learned

1. I didn't expand as much as I could have, and I didn't need to, but against a harder opponent it would have been smart to gather all expansions while I could.

2. Expand to your NATURAL as soon as you can. I was never in need of minerals after I took my natural, but I could tell my opponent was always hurting for more minerals.

3. It is great to win...I should do it more often.

I am now 1-1 with a ladder ranking of 1000. Dragon wasn't very good, but I will take any win. I know this was kind of long for such a mediocre game and I apologize. Once I learn how to do pics effectively they will be included. Thanks for reading and feel free to give me any advice on my strategies or my battle report.
