Lifetime Rating for Flint79: 6.3714 |  | | Today I played a 1 vs 1 game on the old Challenger map. I was so sick and tired of fighting on map with too many minerals and getting newbie partners, thus, I decided to go it alone. I was Zerg and the other guy was Protoss. Needless to say I was worried about the dreaded psi storm that was soon to come. I got the top on the map and he got the bottom. I was heading for the old hyrda drop in the beggining...when I discovered he was at the entrance to my base....making photon cannons and all kinds of stuff. So I lit up a smoke and said, "Let's dance". I made two lurkers and burried them in from to stop or weaken the obvious on-comming Rush at my base. Then I put Hydra production at full...while researching speed and Transport for my Lords with a double Lair. I was getting pretty scared because he had closed me off to the map with increasing photon cannons. So...I took a chance and flew my Lords filled with hyrda's along the edge of the map to reduce detection and landed in his main base. I could'nt believe it...the place was a ghost town. Not even one photon cannon. He had moved everything up to my base and only the probes were hard at work. So I leveled everything he had in his base hoping to see that he was to surrender. Nope...he must have an expansion base. Damn. I found it...and it was right my base. Good thing it was only a mineral expansion. My attack on his base pissed him right off and he attacked with everything he had while I was killing his base. His forces approached my base and my lurkers went nuts. then I sent a ton of Hydra's to kill the rest. I knew that he must have been hurtin for gas because the goon numbers quickly dropped. I left an Overlord at his demolished base to keep me updated if he was to return later. Because all he had was minerals....he basically surrounded my base in Photon cannons to keep me inside. I went to Gardian and Mutalisk production...while expanding on the island to my right for well need gas and minerals. I made gardians and attacked his expansion...but two little Corsair's drove them off. So...I made mutas to cover the gardians and continued my attack again. he sent in his little planes but this time my mutas soon send them to the ground. I knew I ruled the skies. I demolished his mineral expansion and took out all of his key buildings. That when he left that base behind and tried to make his old base again. But my overlord saw it. That guy must have had a ton of minerals because he made a lot of cannons right away. But, they were no match for my bombing Gardians that were soon on the scene. When I killed his lone Dragoon defender...and started Giving his new nexus the people's elbow...he left the game without saying a word. If he made a gas only expansion...he might have been able to beat me as he had me trapped in my base for a while....but looking back...I think it might have been too little...too late...because my air force was enabled almost right away. Well...that's my story and battle report. |
