Wheee I got war2bnet today!!! Unfortunately it is only connecting like 1 in a million times =[ Took me forever, but I finally got a game going, on POS, a 4 ffa
Me = Randomed to human
OpponentAllyer1 = Random Human (He was pretty good)
OpponentAllyer2 = Chosen Orc
OpponentAllyer3 = Chosen Orc (MAPHACKER!)
I started off w/ building my hall so that I could go with as little traffic as possible, at an angle. I did my gas ass build, which always works for me in ffa, which involved taking over 3 expansinos and then guarding the middle with grypons/dragons until I could take it over. I went for farm-farm-rax-rax-farm (In a ring) before getting a Lumber Mill and a Black smith. With my wall in now complete (Except for the 10 footmen I put there later) I started teching.
I first started upgrading to a keep, followed by stables, and Expanding (I send 8 peasants) Also, I build 3 towers at my wall in, and creat a similar wall-in at my exp. Once the town hall at my exp is completed, I start on Castle, and send out a archer (Hey, did anyone see that post the other day on the forum for war2bnet? [bnet] Some guy made an oath "Rangerhood") to each of the exp. Both of my orcish opponents had about 12 guard towers around thier base, and we're still at Great Hall =[ My Human opponent however was already working on an aviary!!!!!! I started up a stables, and immideately upgraded to Paladin at my new church. I strategically positioned my Rangers in a position to overlap eachother incase I had to deal with gryphons.
I also decided to take my peasents that had switched to wood harvesting after the gold mine depleted, to two more expansions, I now owned the entire left side of the map, and had 8 barracks (Hot-keyyed too!!!) I started Holy Visioning most of the map, because my recon up to this point was piss poor (Better with orc, because w/ bloodlust rushing you get the added advantage of the "Eye Of Killrog" which is imho more usfull then BloodLust, because you can't always afford zepplin=] (Even though they are dirt cheap)
Anyway...while I was visioning the map (I got 99 percent of it =]) I found something odd... Both orcs were sharing the bottom right starting spot, and had a mixxed assortment of death knights, ogres (lvl 2!) Also, the black orc was sharing wood carving space at the middle!
This is bad....I can't stand a 3v1! I'm just not really good! I've done it in starcraft, and ONCE in warcraft 1 on kali, (Oh god I can barely even remember how to play warcraft 1) but never ever have I managed to win a 3v1 on war2 (Keep in mind, this was perhaps my 10th game in 2 months, and perhaps 11th game in the last year) I started up a 9th and 10th barracks (I was now at 100/121) and decided that mage bombs were going to save my ass just a bit here. Once I had 10 barracks producing paladins and a few grunts, and 1 making Rangers (I'm not exactly devoted to rangers, just needed them to deal with the damn Gryphons)
Up to now, No one had made a move, but I still had the resource advantage (Now 5 bases, 3 mining) I sent 7 mage bombs out at ALMOST the same time. It took intense micro (And temporary re-hotkeying) but I was able to take out (I think) ALL 50+ peons mining wood/gold at the center, along with 3 castles and 2 lumber mills (Thank god for peons having a weak attack =]) Too bad i ended up HAVING to blizzard myself, or else I could have just destroyed him all with lightening =] Black Orc tried to defend by sending 30 or so ogres (Still lvl2) at me, right through the everlasting blizzard. Smart move! I lost 5 mages (Mage bombs with survivors? HA!) compared to them losing I assum all income whatsoever, and black losing I would bet all he had at the time in the way of ogres)
I once again began mass producing things, mainly mages and paladins, and decided to attack someone for REAL this time. Soon, 70 paladins, with a little bit of healing (2 paladins, one had full mana, killed 5 still lvl 2 ogres in a side battle) Black orc had fallen, but now there were several dozen paladins in my base. Unfortunately they got all of my bases, killing everything I had, except my 4 mage towers..
Time to die!!!!
Things looked baadd, but I just built a bunch of mages, hoping i could keep mage bombing, take out some vital buildings, and win
It didn't work out that way, because some FOOL (Probabally the Human) Decided to attack me with his gryphons. I didn't particularly want to cast blizzard on them, because they stopped right over my hapless paladins. Sensing this to be a problem, I sent everything I had, to orc. (Strange logic? hoping I can get some good splash on blood lusted ogres) Success! He had been eliminated! My paladins were down to 4 control groups (You should have seen the 2 screenfulls I had to begin with) and his gryphons were still taking them out too damn fast. I sent everything I had, using my 6 mages remaining to blizzard everything that the paladins weren't too yet.
While he was attacking me, with 2 new gryphons, he made a mistake, he placed his grpyons over his castle, rather than over my paladins. I Blizzard'd 5 times simeltaniously (I had 5 selected =]) and was able to defeat them all! Go Ducky!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately out of no where come 15 zillion (i assume that thats not the real number, but it's what he said) Peasents. I used a spare paladin to vision everywhere, finding a giant group that just finished mining out the 50k mine at the bottom middle. My now 15 paladins take out 15 zillion peasents, and come back with only ONE alive (I obviously wasn't microing to heal =[...)
Since it takes 1 paladin forever or more to kill 12 buildings, no matter what they are, he left. I won. I won! I WON!!!!!!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Lessons Learned
War2bnet > Starcraft 1.00
I can win!!!
It takes me forever to get on war2bnet's bnet =[
