~Darinth (sp may not be correct) vs NotDefault (me!) on Glacier Bay

I started like a would on a land map - before I discovered it was an island map. As I would find out later, ~Darinth knew the map quite a bit better than I did. Anyway, I started in my usual "build whatever I want" style, and I went for air. But then, my strategy got muddled a bit, so I ended up with M&Ms in one Dropship, and did a drop - early enough to kill his Spawning Pool, as he hadn't much defense.

After that, I got dropped a couple times by Hydras and Zerglings, but they didn't represent any threat to my M&Ms. Intending to destroy his base in one attack (wishful thinking, as I would find out), I got two Siege Tanks, six marines, and two medics, and came down on his base again. I nearly wiped it out - but he brought out lurkers, and I discovered to my horror that I hadn't built a comstat. Plus, I discovered he was morhping a Greater Spire - a bad sign.

From there on, it was all downhill. I couldn't get an expansion - it was an island map, I didn't know it well, AND my scouts found no easily accesible expansion. The only expansion I could get to easily offered only 4 mineral patches, which I figured wouldn't be worth it.

I was getting Science Vessels into gear, with Irradiate. With them, I was harrasing his units whenever I could - but his forces began to include Mutalisks, which made Science Vessel hit and runs much harder. I got a M&M+Tank drop loaded up - but before I could send it out, one of my Science Vessels found an expansion of his. My Dropships started heading towards there, but my Science Vessel got under attack by Mutalisks. So I moved my Sci Vessel to the side, drawing away the Mutalisks, and allowing my forces to destroy the expansion easily. But then, Guardians and Mutalisks started attacking the attackers, and they were wiped out, with two exceptions (two siege tanks, that went into low-red health).

Meanwhile at my base, upgrades were coming, Wraiths were building, and M&Ms were training. Then, one of my Science Vessels discovered an incoming Zerg swarm - many Mutalisks, many Devourers, and many Guardians. I knew I was in for trouble, and my forces barely defeated them, and only after I managed to get my Wraiths cloaked.

I still didn't have an expansion - but I was gearing up for another, BIGGER, M&M+Tank drop, one I hoped would give me the edge again. Since I had some spare Dropships, I popped an SCV into one, and ordered it to drop the SCV off and return... I checked on the SCV, and it had been dropped into the middle of the Zerg base, and was attacking Drones. Because I needed an expansion, I got him out of there, and to the nearest reachable-by-land spot - where he got killed by Zerg.

Soon, my Vespene Geiser depleted, my Minerals mined out, and I discovered a Hatchery and a Zerg swarm on my island. My Wraiths, Marines, Medics, Tanks, and Science Vessels (even WITH Irradiate) could not stand up to the combined might of Devourers, Mutalisks, and Guardians. Although I had a Dropship sending a SCV to build an expansion, I would have died anyway... quickly. So I said GG, and left.

LESSONS LEARNED:

Expand before your opponent does. I knew this already, but I didn't follow it this game, so I lost.
Keep the pressure on. If I had gotten in one more drop, I might have nailed his Spire - maybe even caused crippling damage to him.
Early drops are a good thing. He wasn't expecting my first drop, and got hurt because of it.
