"What's in it for me?" "Respect, admiration, and the feeling you get from saving a galaxy?" "Pshaw. I want wine, women and song!" -Sporff/The Princess

Thousands of pieces of zerglings crashed onto my windshield. The Teflon-coated glass repelled all the cohesive liquid these zerglings called blood, but the layers and layers of 'em have long-ago coated it. Driving through the rocky roads of the Styx, I was mesmerized by the sheer number of the swarm, and the lack of men fighting for the humans from Earth. 'Whoa', ahead was a giant accident, parts of other vultures scattered around the ground. I was for sure to crash amongst the debris, but with a quick jolt from the stim-pack, my doubled reflexes out done itself to maneuver out of that mess. Whew, that was close and the living gets tougher everyday, but I still remember the day I claimed myself part of the UED. The memories are clear from when I first joined the military, and up to this point in life which with every turn, becomes a matter of life and death.
Prologue:
It was a beautiful night, and all three moons of Solaris brightened each soul with comfort. The eclipses were near, and the adrenaline had flown within my body, thus disabling me to hide the excitement. I was only 9 years old then, and that was the night I would never forget.
I was an amateur astronomer, and with my dad, used to look far into the reaches of the universe, searching for our past, searching for our home, searching for our life. I used to hear stories about the giant floods on Earth that initiated the global-wide evacuation to planet Zelfutis. And then, searching the skies one night, I first saw a glimpse of once home of humans, the Earth. A blue speck on my telescope, no bigger than a crumb of bread, reached into my heart, as if it were to show me what life was, to show me the life that evolved from, when Earth was newly populated by humans. Since then, every weekend, my dad and I went out to our back yard with red lights and telescopes searching the skies to see what it was like out there. My dad used to tell me stories about aliens and leprechaun and such (which he used to hear when he was a boy not older than I) which was not meant to scare me, but did tremendously. Maybe it was out of love or maybe out of fear, but I slept with my parents on the weekends trying to comfort both my body and soul. Then, came the dreaded night.
Like typical Sunday night, me and my dad was preparing to set up our equipment, but tonight was a special night. All three moons aligned within the shadow of Solaris causing a triple lunar eclipse. There have been a few single lunar eclipses, but never a triple one. I was thrilled to witness a spectacular view of the 'dark beast' consuming the moon. Well, the equipments were set, and we started to anticipate the disappearance of the moons. Then something weird happened.
A silhouette not of the Solaris covered the view of the first moon. The shape was of a crab covering the moon, as if some mayor of Gotham City was calling Crabman. Then came a swarm, covering not just the moons, but the sky itself. Light was a luxury when all you can see were these figures, which looked like something I have never seen or heard about. I saw the terror in my mom's eyes, as she ran out of the house yelling, "The Zergs are here!" I have heard some fancy shmancy things from my dad, but never of these 'Zergs'. I can not forget the face my dad presented, the widening pupils, paling face, trembling limbs, all visible through the red light set up to help guide the equipments. He grabbed me by the waist and started to run. He told mom to start the car, but an explosion knocked all of us down to the floor. Thanks to my dad covering me up, I was quick to recover, but both of my parents were knocked out cold. 'Wow', I thought, for it was sure to me that I was having another of my nightmares, but all were unfortunately true. The air was now filled with smoke and missiles fired from Jet planes, and a beautiful display of light danced in the sky thanks to laser guns originating from the ground. I was still unable to wake my parents up when the smell of rot and burning flesh swooshed though our back yard and left me nauseated. Not 50 yard away, I saw creatures no bigger than a rhino, eating, I mean literally eating our dog, Ziggy. I ran, ran as fast I could to the house, but I couldn't help my dad and mom, who were still on the ground stunned from the explosion. I called and called, but I was ignored. Although my voice was ignored, not the pain of ripping flesh. Tears rolled down my eyes as the tortured screams filled the town, but I could not shut my eyes. The anger collectively layering on my heart, for I was unable to save my parents: thinking how pathetic it was for a son to abandon one's creators. It was the end of the world to me, but I just could not turn my head away.
I was not the only one who has lost a loved one during the attack of the Zergs, but I was the only one who lost himself. I was not going to stand to live another day, not living for the death of my parents, and for revenge I must inflict on these 'Zergs' have not been forced upon them yet. So I joined the military when I was barely ten.
To be continued….
This is the prologue to a long 'novel' I'm trying to write. It is a story based on a man, kinda like a diary from the first-point of view. He has witnessed a terrible incident, and the story builds on his anger, and his way to deal with the pain. It can remind you of Starship Troopers, but I assure you this will be more interesting featuring the StarCraft members. Maybe someone will make a movie out of this…hehe.
I will continue to right the body of the story if I get enough support from commentators and raters, but if you guys hate it, I will stop. I might not be as good a lot of other writers who post on this site, but I hope a good story line may cover that up… hehe.
Thanks for reading this far and please feel free to comment…but please, I appreciate comments on my writing, but don't attack me personally, for I will think you are not intellectual enough to acknowledge the literature in front of your face…hehe.
