This battle report has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, but since today is Thanksgiving I just wanted to wish everybody a Merry Thanksgiving. To view the entire screenshot, click on the image.
Battleground - Lost Temple
Fallen - Zerg 3:00
SilentRoc - Protoss 12:00
Many protoss and zerg lives have been sacrificed over this battle ground and today shall not be any different. Blood shall spill from the protoss and zerg units like the millions and millions of their ancestors before them.
I spawned in the 9:00 position with the proud zerg while SilentRoc found his lowly protoss warped into the 12:00 position. I went for a quick expansion at 10/9 after the extractor trick. Its not really a trick, but just morphing a drone while building an extractor and then cancelling the extractor afterwards. With about 130 minerals in the bank I sent one drone to my natural and started a hatchery there. I built a spawning pool immediately afterwards fearing an early cheese zealot rush from my opponent.
I sent out a peon to scout out my opponent to see what he was up to. My scouting peon searched the 6:00 and 3:00 position with no luck until I finally came upon his base in the 12:00 position. Imagine my surprise when I saw he had an operational expansion and a ton of zealots guarding it. You can't compare drones with the great deon peon, but he sure held his own. Slipping by the zealots with only red life to boast, he searched out the main to find two gateways, a forge, and an extractor starting. He must be pulling X'Ds~Grrrr...'s Humilation strategy on me. *gasp!*
By this time my natural expansion was running full blast so resources were a plenty. I started another hatchery in earnest to utilize all the excess resources that can't be supported with only two hatcheries. Sunkens were morphing in my natural when a band of zealots and goons came knocking on my door.
I held my breath and hoped my sunkens held up against the attack. It didn't of course, but I my three hastily morphed lurkers saved the day since he had no mobile detection with him. I rebuilt the sunkens in case he was going to attack again after he got his first observer out.
There was a lull in the action, in which we both replenished out troops. My opponent chose the route of goons and reavers anticipating my mass hydralisks that I was going. With great recon from a speed upgraded overlord flying through his main base on a kamikaze mission, I switched over to mutalisk and zerling production and eventually guardians.
A wandering overlord reavealed that he was trying to expand to the 3:00 starting position, so I called up the fob squad (12 upgraded cracklings) and got wiped it off the face of the planet in a matter of seconds. I uploaded a large quanitity of hydralisks into my overlords in hopes of a successful hydra doom drop. I increased my chances of having a successful drop by bringing a couple of guardians along with it. Approaching from the left, my opponent had no idea what he was in for. The guardians engaged the cannons first, letting my overlords a clean route for a drop...
Out of nowhere he pulled a mass of goons out of his ass and guardians started dropping like flies. My hydralisks dealt a great deal of damage by wiping out his nexus, all his probes mining there, and his masses of goons. I think I took out a few vital buildings, but I'm not so sure. He still managed to hang on for dear life after that attack, but the damage has already been dealt.
He tested my defenses by dropping reavers into my peon line. I burrowed my drones and a potential threat was adverted. A few wandering hydralisks wanted to get at the reavers and the splash damage from the scarabs killed most of my drones along with the hydras. DOH!
By this time I had my main, my natural, the top left island, and the lower right island. This was the end game for SilentRoc. Wave after wave of hydralings pounded his natural while I dropped zerglings in his main. It all got wiped out my one lucky psi storm and 3 reavers.
He realized there was no point in continuing the game so he said "gg" and left the game.
This is my first battle report so rate it with extreme prejudice. ^_^ I hope I get a rating of 6 for this one. I didn't really try hard on this one. Photoshop kept crashing on me so I had to use *gasp!* Paint Shop Pro. Any comments on my battle report, game, and such are welcome. Thank you for reading my battle report? Is zerg better than toss on temple? I say so.
Lessons learned:
-Grrrr...'s Humilation strategy is very powerful if done right. Counter with 2 hatch hydra rush.
-Guardians suck against corsairs. (he didn't build any)
-Upgrades are good investments if you have a lot of resources in the bank.
-Zerg vs Protoss on Lost Temple is imbalanced, don't you think? It takes more skill for toss to beat zerg on temple then vice versa. |
