"Unfortunately, the evil Protoss military-industrial complex had so heavily polluted the SCV's normal migratory pathway with cannons that not one made it to the mating grounds." - FunnyMarx's Much Ado About Nuking.

It got 1 comment. I was ecstatic. Three days ago, we tried to finally get a rematch going (he was disconnected, remember?) and he was disconnected and didn't get back on until today. This is the story.

I've been working on a new strat against terrans that go for heavy metal, and it's been working pretty good, but it sucks beans if they get too many goliaths. It involved many shuttles, and a bout 4 reavers before they get up a 4th factory. (Kinda difficult on this map, as they can take two expansions before I can get my support bay up. Anyway, I went for a standard pylon-gate-gas-pylon-gate build, hoping to get the shuttles and reavers before he got his factories pumping tanks and vultures.
When my probe got to his base, it was toasted by 2 bunkers with 8 bats (4 in each) apparently he thought I was gonna do somesorta mass zealot rush. (8 bats in 2 bunkers > 50 zillion zealots) Anyway, I decided to forego the idea of the reavers, and just pump goons. I got a shuttle up, and expanded to the mineral only island, and dropped 2 zealots and a 1 dragoon at his mineral island, only to have it destroyed by 12 marines in 3 bunkers. (Did I mention this guy liked bunkers in the last game?) I started up an expansion at the mineral expansion just north of my main, accesible by ground. I put up a stargate and a D-Web Reasearch building thingy, with that great big shiny ball, and started gay-web.
With my minerals, 2 gateways wasn't going to be enough, so I put up 3 more, and started on the observer tech tree, finding that he had taken both of the expansions in the middle, supported with atleast 20 tanks, and 6 bunkers, and about a million (maybe more) turrets all over the outside.
Dont ask me what made me do it, I started making Dark Archons. I also started sending my masses of zealots/dragoons and 2 reavers at the choke to the expansion, but my 2/1/3 ground were no match for his 2/2 tanks and 3/3 marines in bunkers. Almost thinking I stood no chance, with my main geyser nearing an empty status, and my island only having 200 more gas. (I only had 2 probes on gas, at my main me = suck) Carriers were not going to be on my agenda, unless I pulled some major trickory soon.
I scanned my base, looking for things that I could use, when I remembered about the d-web, I had researched it, and had just enough gas left for 2 corsairs. It took a while, but I was finally able to get past the main choke with my last 3 dragoons firing away. I had 75 gas left, and was pumping zealots from 7 gateways.
Unluckily for me, he had discovered my lack of gas, and was making several firebats and vultures (both 3/3) and was having a field day with my zealots. I once again went back to my main, and sat just waiting for 250 gas to come out of the two depleted geysers...
It took a while, but I finally got 250 gas, and promptly spent it on a carrier. The giant ship with 4 interceptors made it's way towards the center, I d-webbed 2 of the remaining bunkers, and sent in the carrier. That one carrier got near 100 kills off of that single base, most of it in firebat/vultre kills, and a few marines. Too bad for me he had a single cloaked wraith, and my only observer was all the way back in his main base, staring at the turbo newbie he had set up above his own minerals to prevent a cannon drop up there.
With my last ounce of strenghth, I sent my zealot army (must have been atleast 40) to perish at the expansion. Amazingly, he had been expecting more carriers, and had only been getting wraiths, along with several 3/3 valks (my air was 0/0) My zealots started ripping up everybuilding that he could lift off, and continued on to the second expansion, all the way into the main before the 7 wraiths were able to pick off the last zealot. My last minerals had just been mined, the only minerals were at the middle expansion closest to him, but there was still only about 1000 minerals there. I still had 3k minerals. I made 3 dragoons, and 25 zealots. They were my LAST HOPE! Everything they killed was everything I'd kill for the rest of the game. I plowed back down, finding more damn vultres and firebats. End Game.
I concededd a good game to him, and left.
Whew...You have no idea how stressful that game was, and I have no idea if he even really got as far as he did in our first game(He had 3/3 battlecruisers vs my goons) Anyway....Good game, I hoped I could beat you, and stupidly hoped that he had no more minerals (Yeah....riiiiiiight....)
