This game started just as they all do. I was asking for a 2v2 game in Nohunters, and several replies came up. I made the game on the Dire Straits + 4 observers since 5 people replied, and only 4 could play. aP_TaKtIkS, Chaitan, Firechill, and The.Confessor all joined. Someone asked if this was going to be reported, and then urged me to move into the observer, or "Dire Straight Men" section. I agreed, and started the countdown. I now proudly present:
The game started with aP_TaKtIkS who I will refer to as Taktiks, as Brown Zerg at the top right position. Chaitan as Red Protoss in the bottom right, Firechill as Purple Zerg in the top left, and The.Confessor taking Yellow Zerg in the bottom left. Early game strategies started to show themselves, as Taktiks went Hatchery, Extractor, Spawning Pool, Lair upgrade, Hatchery, Spire. Chaitan chose to go Pylon, Gateway, Assimilator, Cybernetics Core, Pylon, Dragoon, Citadel, Forge, Archives, Cannons and a Stargate. Firechill started off with a Spawning Pool, Hatchery, Extractor, a Lair, and... Zerglings? Well, they may serve some purpose. Meanwhile, The.Confessor had built his Extractor, 2nd Hatchery, 3rd Hatchery, Spawning Pool, 2 Lairs a Hydra Den and Evolution Chamber.
Taktiks is now producing Mutalisks from his 3 Hatcheries, and actively scouting for Overlords to kill. A purple one is found, and shot down. The now about 7 Mutalisks charge into Chaitan's base, but quickly retreat when they see about 8 Dragoons. Taktiks flies his Mutalisks around Firechill's base, looking for openings, but Spores cover all the workers and Tech buildings. The.Confessor takes the closest expansion to him, the bottom middle. Hydralisks are shipped over to protect the two forming Hatcheries. Taktiks also expands, to the top middle island, and the top section of the right center island. Each player is building up their armies, Mutalisks, Zerglings, Hydralisks, Dragoons, and Templar.
Chaitan takes the mid right island expansion, fortifying it with cannons and a Templar. About a control group of Mutalisks are dispatched to take down the island before it gets running, but several Corsairs and a single Psionic Storm vaporize the entire group of Mutalisks.
Firechill expands to the mid left island, as well as the bottom section of the left center island. Taktiks now has his Hive and Greater Spire, and starts morphing Devourerers and Gaurdians to start doing some damage. The.Confessor also decides to attack. His attack is aimed at purple's main base, in the form of a drop. 7 Overlords of Hydras and Zerglings are loaded up and make their way to the opponent's main. The drop fails miserably however, because The.Confessor floats his overlords right over a control group of Hydralisks and into 3 Spore Colonies. Only 2 Hydras and 1 Zergling land.
Firechill's second expansion is found and eliminated by Brown Mutalisks. And at about the same time, 6 Dragoons are landed with corsair support on Taktik's right-top-center island. The Corsairs are chased away by Devouerer's while Mutalisks take down the Dragoons. Soon after, the Zerg fleet makes it's way to the only purple expansion, and 3 Gaurdians start pounding on the Spore Colonies. 3 Mutalisks make hit and run attacks, while Hydralisks are Nydused in. Once the Gaurdians move close enough, they are popped by the Hydras. The rest of the Fleet retreats.
Before very long, another drop is made by The.Confessor on purple's main. This one is more succesful however, with all of Firechill's Hydralisks still at his expansion. All purple defenses are destroyed, and he sat and watched in horror as 3 sunkens tore his base apart, and there was nothing he could do about it. Now all that is left of Firechill is his one expansion.
Chaitan renews his offensives against Taktiks, and drops 4 shuttles of Dragoons and a Shuttle full of Templar on the bottom end of the mid right center expansion. Gaurdians and Mutalisks defend, as well as some Devouerers to ward off the red Corsairs. But Storm shoots up everywhere, decimating the Zerg force, and crippling the Brown army. Newly hatched Mutalisks charge into the fray, killing each Templar with 1 volley of Glaive Worms. The Dragoons are finished off, and the expansion lives. With new Gaurdians, Mutalisks, and Devouerers, Taktiks sets off towards The.Confessor's only expansion. Possibly a little pissed at the mass Parasites he had been using on all players. Scourge knock out a few Gaurdians, but the expansion is overrun, and The.Confessor is down to his last base.
Chaitan's shuttles are never busy though, and now ferry 8 Dragoons, 2 Archons, and 4 Templar to the Brown main. They rampage through the base unhindered except for a couple random ground units and an odd Sunken Colony here and there.
The real downer for Taktiks was that at the same time, 7 Overlords of mixed Hydralisks and Zerglings unload one the other side of him main. In short, Taktiks'main is raped.
Remember Firechill? Well he's not quite out of the game yet. A large drop of Hydralisks drop and take out every yellow structure except two Hatcheries. The reason that they didn't completely take down the base was that several Yellow overlords just unloaded at his island! The Overlords are too slow, and Firechill is now officially an observer. Revenge is sweet. Revenge for revenge is even sweeter. Another Protoss drop takes down the bottom middle island which was recently infested by Taktiks.
Taktiks currently holds both center islands, while Chaitan has the bottom right and the middle right, (both mined out) Firechill is floating around his last Overlords, and The.Confessor has taken the top left, and the mid left unknown to the other players who dismissed him as out of the game.
The remnants of Taktik's air force along with reinforcements starts to pound on the outlying Protoss structures, but when micro-management is not used by Taktiks, his entire army is put down by storm and Dragoons. Prompting him to remark: "STORM IS GAY!"
Although both his bases are mined out, Chaitan still has a large amount of bank money, and again attacks the right center isle, held by Tatiks. It is taken down with minimal resistance, and a Nexus and Pylon grid followed by Cannons is quickly warped in to defend the newly acquired resource node. Yellow, or The-Guy-Who-Never-Leaves-You-Alone-Until-You-Kill-His-Last-Unit, drops 5 Overlords full of Cracklings on the bottom middle brown expansion, which was recently killed by red, but was rebuilt. The Hatchery is taken down, but Mutalisks drive away the Overlords and slowly kill off the Cracklings. Taktiks drops Cracklings at the top of the new Chaitan expansion, but cannons Dragoons and Storm eliminate them. Continual Mutalisk and Zergling attacks are thrown at the expansion, all being put down by Storm. But the Templar are soon depleted of energy and the expansion is lost.
Taktiks has rebuilt his bottom middle expansion, with 2 Hatcheries, but as soon as it is noticed, here comes yellow again. The Cracklings manage to destroy one of the Hatcheries while lowering the second to about 900 HP. A minute of silence ensues, each player rebuilding what they can, but it is broken by a Huge Crackling drop on Chaitan's main. Now I am talking, HUGE. This was hella big, you could hear Overlords unloading for 10 seconds non-stop. Now, the Zergling charged. Templar Stormed, taking down large clumps of Zerglings while under the cloaking field of their respective Arbiters. Zealots cut through Zerglings in 2 hits, and Archons slaughtered many a Zergling with their massive splash while recharging with Shield Batteries. When the attack was over, blood covered the ground, and many buildings were throwing off blue flame. The.Confessor joins in, also dropping cracklings, fewer in number, but that was easily taken care of.
A second drop is made, but fails, and then a 3rd. The 3rd drop was finally able to take down red's main with the use of hydralisks. Yellow makes his last drop, this time on the top middle island which has long been mined out, and was used just for making troops. The attack takes down some defending units, but new Cracklings finish it off. Mutalisks now attack The.Confessor's expansion, and a drop takes down his main. aP_TaKtIkS has won the game, But in light of the season, I wanted to bring to you a special present. =)
