Round 2
Map: The Lost Temple (Ick, again =( )
Speed: Faster
Opponent: RedTheZealot - Random Terran at 9
Me: Silent-Strike - Random Zerg at 12

My starting order this game was dumb. I scouted with my first overlord to the 9 direction, and moved him to scout 6 too early. Red's command center was probably only 1 matrix square thing away from my overlord's vision before I changed direction.

If you haven't played temple a lot, I'll tell you something about this starting location for me and the starting location for me... It's GAY. The terran can siege my ramp from a extremity in his main. Thus, he can split my natural from my main with ease. Also, I cannot sunken at my natural to stop units from entering my main. DOH!

Upon seeing nothing at the 9 o'clock starting position, I went 10/9 and expanded to my natural. Soon thereafter, I see an SCV scout my base, and then my natural. I moved my overlord back to the 9 base just to be sure. DOH! A damn command center. I was kicking myself at seeing this.

Expansion finished. I start making about a 50/50 ratio of zerglings and drones. I send a scouting zergling to see a bunker at the area below my ramp. Not fair. I am attempt to sunken push out of the offensive bunkering, while start a hatchery above my ramp and a sunken at my natural. I keep lings in a somewhat scattered fashion above my ramp near the morphing hatchy.

He sends a scouting marine up my ramp. Soon thereafter, about 8 marines and 2 scvs bust up the hatch above my ramp. I sunken in my main, while extending my sunken push at my natural. He kills my morphing hatchy, but stops doesn't attempt to take my main. Too bad for him, he probably would have had it. The 2nd sunken at my natural completes, but is still not close enough to the bunker to kill it.

I start lair. My intention is lurkers. However, my scouting overlord sees a factory being bulit and my lair is not yet finished. He anticipates lurkers. I go spire instead. With about 15 drones mining minerals in my main, and 3 on gas at main, and 3 on gas at the expansion, my resource income was extremely gas heavy.. good for mutas.

Spire complete. A tank from his ledge starts pounding on my attempt to sunken push. Dah, not fair. Upon getting 5 mutas, I send them into the terran scv line. Two turrets.. meany. However, my 5 mutas kill the tank on his ledge just as after my sunken bursts into blood.

The only limiting factor in me producing mutas is minerals... yeah, that's right, I don't have enough minerals to produce mutas. That's a good sign/bad sign kinda thing. It's better to just be able to produce mutas, but mining minerals is a lot quicker. I continue to pump mutas out of two hatcheries. The SM keystrokes were pressed almost instantly upon accumulation of 100 minerals. I go and harass his expansion, to my delight. About 10 SCVs with nothing to defend them. My 8 mutas kill the non-fleeing SCVs fairly quickly.

I continue to produce mutas.. he can't keep up with my harassing mutas. I hit the outskirts of his base. A depot here, an undefended turret there. He splits his forces. Some marines and medics try to push into my main, while others are left in multiple bunkers throughout his main. I first engage with mutas and then followthrough with about 8 zerglings. The combo works nice, the mutas draw fire while the zerglings and their incredibly fast rate of attack smacks around the ill-numbered marines.

"Good game" he says, and then leaves.

Lessons you should have known before or know now.

-Tank pushing vs a zerg with an expansion is risky. By tank pushing, you leave yourself vunerable to a heavy muta production. Either your troops will be split between main and push, or your main will be totally undefended. Either way, it's a hard thing to pull off. This is why I did not set up a tank push after I finished off the zerg's natural in the game before.
-Use marine range. My single sunken and 8 lings would not have been able to kill his 8 marines and 2 SCVs if he stayed out of the sunken range. He could have held position near my drones and stopped my mining, or possilby started to attack my hatchery.

On to round 3.
