Well I recently joined [SouL] because Sage is about as active a piece of Roadkill lately, plus most of my buds went there. So we're chilling in channel [SouL] when [Soul]-Keeper tells me he likes my brs and asked if he could be in one. I said sure and he asked [SouL]-Deceiver for a 1v1 and [SouL]-Deceiver obliges. I qickly host up and get ready to watch a Battle of Heart and [SouL]. Please take note of the colors for each player, since they're the same race.
[SouL]-Keeper Orange Randomed Terran at the 1:00 position
[SouL]-Deceiver White Chosen Terran at the 9:00 Position
Observers:
[SouL]-VeNoM (Thaaaaats me) and [MY]DickIsGood, invisible StarCraft gods somewhere in the middle of the map.
Opening Builds
To start the game [SouL]-Keeper says "Shit". This is already enough evidence for [SouL]-Deceiver to elect that [SouL]-Keeper is Terran. So it becomes painfully obvious that [SouL]-Keeper is indeed Terran and Deceiver heads the route of Wraiths. Here is his Build:
- 8 Depot
- 11 Rax
- 14 Depot
- (Now Deceiver finds out Keeper is Terran) 15 Refinery
- Factory with his first 100 Gas (I assume)
[SouL]-Deceiver constantly makes SCVs and makes about 5 Marines before stopping Marine Production.
Keeper knowing his opponent is Terran from the start goes with a more conventional Build:
- (About) 8-9 Rax
- 9 Depot
- 12 Rax
- Standard Build up of Academy/Refinery Later
First Blood
[SouL]-Keeper's build being the more conservative of the two allows him to rush and get Stim and Medics fairly early. [SouL]-Deceiver's build is obviously is aimed at getting early tech units. Both Players scout their opponents, with [SouL]-Keeper scouting a little earlier than Deceiver. After seeing that [SouL]-Deceiver's base is lightly defended by 5 Marines, [SouL]-Keeper sends about 8 Marines down to Deceiver's natural just as [SouL]-Deceiver is scouting. [SouL]-Deceiver's scouting marine goes around [SouL]-Keeper's Marine force and I'm sceptical to whether or not he saw the force coming. I begin to think he did when he starts a Bunker atop his Hill. [SouL]-Deceiver's timing is impeccible, and the Bunker finishes just about the time Keeper's marines are coming up the hill. With a bold move, [SouL]-Keeper decides engaging the Bunker is suicide and runs past, losing a few Marines in the process. [SouL]-Deceiver then does the manly thing and runs like hell out of his bunker to stop [SouL]-Keeper's force from taking out too many SCVs. Using his Meaty SCVs, marines and a newly made Vulture [SouL]-Deceiver stops the attack with minimal losses. Just before this battle, [SouL]-Deceiver starts 2 Starports, making his tech choice al to clear. And with the marine force, this is no longer a surprise to [SouL]-Keeper and he prepares himself for it, getting and Engineering bay and Turrets covering his main. He also gets a 3rd rax, so [SouL]-Keeper's goal is going to be Marines and lots of them for now, at least.

Now [SouL]-Deceiver researches Cloak while getting some Wraiths and making a Command Center at the bottom of his plateau that he aims to float down to 6:00 for his first expansion. Now [SouL]-Keeper Sends another group of Marines, this time complimented by Medics and Stim, to [SouL]-Deceiver's Natural. So now they run up the Hill and engage the Bunker head on. 2 Cloaked Wraiths and a Bunker are just enough to repell the force, and all the Marines are dead at the time that the Bunker is in the red. I think after seeing how badly the Marines and meds own his clunky old Wraiths with the help of a Comsat, [SouL]-Deceiver decides to change tech trees. He goes Private with me and says "Screw this", canceling his 3rd StarPort and throwing up 2 more Factories instead. He gets Siege Mode and starts pumping the Tanks while taking 6:00 with a floating CC, and sending 3 Tanks and a Wraith to Defend it. About this time, [SouL]-Keeper sends a lone Marine to scout starting spots. His Marine is just out of sight range of a now Nude expansion and doesn't see it at first. Then, a bit later he trips over a rock or something and bumps his head on a shiny new [SouL]-Deceiver Command Center. He starts capping SCVs and Deceiver sends out a Wraith to eliminate him.

Mid Game
But [SouL]-Keeper is not one to let [SouL]-Deceiver freely expand over the map. He grabs a group of Marines and Medics down to 6:00, and about the same time, [SouL]-Deceiver's expansions defense of 4 tanks siege up and lay waste to [SouL]-Keeper's Marine squad.Keeper needs to make a big move or expand himself to offset the resource advantage [SouL]-Deceiver will soon be getting from his expansion. [SouL]-Keeper chooses the expansion route and sets up a CC at his natural. Deceiver, hoping for [SouL]-Keeper to take this move, scans [SouL]-Keeper's natural to see a fledgling Command Center. He loads up 2 Tanks in a dropships and procedes to lay waste to Keeper's CC, forcing him to cancel it. It would've been a better move for keeper to build the Command Center on his pleateu and float it down, now hes out some building time on an expansion.

Back on the left side of the map, the question is...WTF is [SouL]-Deceiver doing? He again switches tech tracks, throwing up 3 more rax at the time and 2 more shortly thereafter. [SouL]-Keeper now sends an SCV to build a Cammand Center at the 12:00 natural, while throwing up 2 Starports. During this time, [SouL]-Deceiver looks to extend his resource advantage by landing a shiny new Command Center at his natural, and fotifying it with 4 Tanks.
The next move would belong to [SouL]-Keeper. He loads up 3 Dropships with M&M and heads off to [SouL]-Deceiver's main. At this point I'm hoping he lands the more lightly defended 6:00 expansion. He could've done huge damage there. [SouL]-Deceiver catches a glimpse of the orange dropships and wisely sieges his newly made tanks. After stimming down the 2 tanks, [SouL]-Keeper's marines go straight for [SouL]-Deceiver's SCV line and start wreaking havoc. However, the marine party is cut short by 4 Tank brought from [SouL]-Deceiver's natural. The tanks are positioned well behind a wall of depots and Keeper's marines die. Right about now, a [SouL]-Deceiver marine on scouting duty sees the Command center in construction and starts shooting the SCV. The SCV finishes his work and quickly dies. Realizing an attakc is imminent, Keeper sends marines to defend his new expansion. [SouL]-Deceiversieges 2 Tanks on the high ground at 12:00 and starts hitting the Command Center from afar. Then [SouL]-Deceiver's marines kill [SouL]-Keeper's marines and start hitting the Command Center. Keeper wisely lifts off the Comamnd center, lands it on the ridge above the 12:00 natural and makes and SCV which repairs it, bceause it was in the red.

Late Game
Now [SouL]-Deceiver's pulling out his inner Heartcutter, he sieges 4 Tanks on the low ground at the left side of the 2:00 main. From here, he uses a floating engineering bay to blast outlying supply depots. [SouL]-Keeper, not to be offset by such a lowly trick, loads up 3 dropships of M&M and grabs about a control group of wraiths and heads for [SouL]-Deceiver's main base. He unloads his deadly cargo and begins razing [SouL]-Deceiver's structures. [SouL]-Deceiver now starts going on about he owns this. Then all his marines at his base die doing minimal damage due to their lack of very many medics, and [SouL]-Deceiver is wondering if he really wons this after all. So now all the Marines from [SouL]-Deceiver's 6:00 expansion march in and end the threat. However [SouL]-Deceiver's main is decemated. Will this be enough to offset [SouL]-Deceiver's huge resource advantage? Just now, using Wraiths [SouL]-Keeper killed the tanks on his natural's ridge and quickly expanded there, while taking the lower right island as well. Back at [SouL]-Keeper's main, [SouL]-Deceiver has taken out quite a few buildings with his low ground tank push. Keeper throws up some more Starports now that he has the money to do so. [SouL]-Deceiver now takes the 6:00 natural as well.

Using good wraith positioning and control, [SouL]-Keeper manages to destroy some of [SouL]-Deceiver's tanks before getting chases off by missle turrets and Marines. Now, [SouL]-Deceiver's strategy becomes very clear as he throws up more raxes, bringing the total to twelve. What I don't understand is what's up with the lack of Medics? [SouL]-Deceiver has like 1 in a group of 32 Marines. Now Deceiver brings in about 3-4 control groups of Marines to [SouL]-Keeper's natural. However, Keeper uses his advantage of making freakin' medics, better positioning and [SouL]-Deceiver's elite single file unit control tactics and manages to beat down the superior numbers.
[SouL]-Keeper has now begun making vultures. [SouL]-Deceiver with his 12 raxes quickly builds up another force of marines as large as the first and this time is assisted by a science vessel for [SouL]-Keeper's large number of Wraiths and Tank for Marines. [SouL]-Keeper's spider mines do no damage as marines kill them before they manage to explode. [SouL]-Keeper's forces don't fare well with [SouL]-Deceiver's supporting Tank fire raining down hard on them. With the words "Upgrades killed me", [SouL]-Keeper congratgulates Deceiver for a well played game and concedes.

Analysis
[SouL]-Keeper was set back badlywhen [SouL]-Deceiver droped tanks on his Natural. [SouL]-Deceiver could've used his resource advantage (at one time a 3:1 base ratio) to simply run over [SouL]-Keeper, who didnt make a single tank all game. [SouL]-Keeper's drops had some serious effect on [SouL]-Deceiver as well. [SouL]-Deceiver's serious lack of Medics kept [SouL]-Keeper in the game longer than he really should have been. Island expansions are a big help when you can be overpowered, and Keeper took advantage of that. I think if one of [SouL]-Keeper's drops had gone to the 6:00 expansion rather than [SouL]-Deceiver's main, he could have had some serious effect, although his second drop did lots of damage. [SouL]-Keeper could have pulled a tank drop on [SouL]-Deceiver's Natural easily, because Deceievr only had a few wraiths and one dropship. I thank both players for letting me play and congratulate them both on a game well played.
