Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the first installment of…

KING OF THE HILL

This marks the beginning of hopefully a long series of BRs with one common theme. King of the Hill essentially works as follows: I pick two people to play each other and BR the game. I then continue Bring the winner of that game, finding better opponents as he goes along until he loses, whereupon I then BR the new winner. Once someone finally has won 6 straight games as king, they are crowned true king and the series comes to an end. Welcome to game one…

Players: I_Hate_Medics VS [1]Love
Map: Snowbound
yuck, islands

Early Game: Both players elected to go random on this island map, and I_Hate_Medics drew terran at 6:00 with [1]Love drawing protoss at the 9:00 position. Both players commenced their build orders, aiming for an early tech, as [1]Love offered his prediction on the outcome of the game. doh! Pessimist! [1]Love seems to gear himself for air conflict and quick expansion, warping in a forge, stargate and robotics facility all right after his cybernetics core warps in. I_Hate_Medics opts for a similar strategy, building dual starports after his first factory and quickly researching cloak. I_Hate_Medics builds an e-bay on the outer perimeter of his base for scouting the eastern half of the map, and soon after both players send their first air units out to scout each others bases. Choosing to build up their forces before engaging in any combat, [1]Love decides to take the opportunity to expand early to the expansion directly above him, increasing his corsair production the entire time. Not to be found slacking off, I_Hate_Medics has a squad of wraiths already in transit to [1]Love’s base, hoping to find it lightly defended from anti air. Upon seeing the 4 corsairs however, the 6 wraiths quickly retreat with [1]Love hot in pursuit. It seems the corsairs will catch up and destroy the wraiths until suddenly I_Hate_Medics cloaks them, turning back on the helpless corsairs and then immediately flying to [1]Love’s main as the protoss commander struggles to warp in a cannon and an observatory.
no detection? whoops
The wraiths manage to kill a few probes before their energy run out, and the waiting corsairs quickly eliminate the terran threat. I_Hate_Medics decides to follow up his successful attack with an expansion, starting a Command Center at his main to float later on, meanwhile [1]Love has established reaver production and prepares himself for a deadly counter attack. He loads up 2 reavers into a shuttle and with an accompanying 6 corsairs to protect the reavers form the wraiths, proceeds to drop I_Hate_Medics’ SCV line, creating utter havoc in his base until cloaked wraiths manage to finally dispose of the reavers with huge casualties.
photoshop owns ur bonez!
Despite the enormous amount of SCVs and troops lost in the drop, I_Hate_Medics quickly regroups, floating his CC to the bottom right expansion and quickly reinforcing it with wraiths and turrets, at the same time starting on tank production at his main. [1]Love decides to follow up his first drop with another one, adding another gateway and a citadel of adun, while pumping zealots. He soon has two more shuttles ready to go, and send s his corsairs, an observer and 2 shuttles down to the terran main and once again drops it. tank goes boom! Upon seeing the shuttles, I_Hate_Medics makes the mistake of sieging his defending tanks, allowing the speed upgraded zealots to easily destroy the metal behemoths and once again terrorize I_Hate_Medics’s main.aiee! Zealots!

Finally, last minute wraiths, some excellent marine and scv micro and newly produced tanks quell the threat once again. I_Hate_Medics can only sum up his troubles in one word: fick

I_Hate_Medics realizes desperate times call for desperate measures, and decides to try to regain an advantage by expanding again, this time to the 3:00 start, at the same time dropping off a tank and some marines outside [1]Love’s north western expansion. Meanwhile, [1]Love finding himself with an abundance of minerals adds more gateways and an additional forge for upgrades. Soon after, I_Hate_Medics’ final card is shown, as he begins the construction of a science facility at his bottom right expansion, followed by a covert ops and nucleur silo!

yum, toss soup…
The tides indeed seem to have suddenly swayed, as the terran commander heavily reinforces his 3:00 expansion, and easily survives [1]Love’s 4 zealot drop on it. [1]Love scouts the other expansion with his corsair, and after realizing his expansion is about to come under attack, is about to mine out his main and the terran foe already holds a large recourse advantage at the moment, surprisingly concedes the game. He later revealed he no longer felt he had enough necessary to mount a comeback without resorting to carriers, and he would rather concede then resort to that. =] thats turboconcede with a capital C plz

Back in the chat room, GGs were exchanged, as I_Hate_Medics is victorious and is now biding for king of the hill! (note: if you wish to challenge the contender at any time, drop me a line at: mjp_cev@hotmail.com with your name on B.net)
