As i was very in need of an exciting match, i found someone who would play me 1v1.
Itz a long story how we decided to play, but we finally agreed. We both went random on BGH, he ended
up being zerg and me, toss. I went for quick zealots at first,
going pylon 7, double gate 10, and then gas and cy core. I got the top right spot and when my first two
zealots were done, i scouted and found him in the lower middle spot. He had a spawning pool and
2 sunkens which took out my zealots. Although it's rare to go mass DTs against someone and especially
when they're zerg, i said 'what the hell' and went for it.
With continuous scouting with zealots and probes, i realized that he moved all his overlords to an
expansion. Knowing this, I knew he had a great lack of detection on his main base. When i had enough
gas i quickly got a citadel and then templar archives. i then made 6 more gateways when my minerals
racking up as i had an expansion in my natural and the top left corner. I then made 3 robotics facilities
hoping to hurt him with a reaver drop, but he had hydras and sunkens around his mining. I pulled off
from my drop. When i saw the spire building, i knew he was going for air. With my 8 gateways i pumped
out DTs and made cannons all around. When i had 3 hotkeys of DTs, he had what looked to be about 1
hotkey of mutas. I laughed as my cannons took them out with ease. I then put up 5 stargates and was
ready to attack.
THE ATTACK
When i reached a massive 5 hotkeys of DTs and about 6 scouts, i realized i was probably going to
destroy him as i started to attack. I started with his natural, which had a great lack of detection and my
DTs destroyed his defensive sunkens. As i reached his main base, he had about 2 hotkeys of
guardians, and surprisingly no mutas which made me happy that i got scouts for my attack. I took out the
guardians and his hydras tried to help, but they were absolutely no match for my DTs. Even though his
overlords came rushing over, he had nothing to kill my DTs but his drones. It was amazing watching 60
DTs destroy a base, i wish i had a shot of it.
Now as i realized that he only had one expansion to my 4, i decided that he was a true newbie and i allied
with him at the end.
LESSONS LEARNED FROM THIS GAME
1. DTs work against newbies.
2. Mass DTs work against newbies.
3. Never play newbies when you're in need of an exciting match.
