Tao of gaming thingy
Intro
Greetings. I was given the ... honor ...
to br a game in this smackdown thing for this here Tao website. Hopefully you know by now
that the two clans battling it out are [o]utcasts vs the-feared (yes, the same clan that
let -TOOL- join), for some reason. Someone was bad manner i suppose. Anyway, Bob_the_newt
pathetically got onto his hands and knees and begged me to watch one of the games, and so
i did, mostly out of pity (and a few sexual favors). So, Tuesday night was the chosen
date, and so i arrived, being particularly pumped up after reading about Stalin killing 10
million people. The first channel chosen was complete chaos, with x17 lamers wandering in
speaking their ebonics/korean hybrid language, nanogirl trying to scream and get
everyone's attention, and of course, as you saw in Dr.Zchivago's br, i was a well behaved
little boy.
But this channel didn't work out, so we had to move to another one. After this and some
more bitching trying to find a 5th feared member since who we thought was to be the 5th
was smoking (bad manner!), we finally got a 5th feared, and the games were hosted. I
randomly joined one, pleased to find Omen-the-feared and [o]bmpo sitting there, with the
chosen map being temple. Goodie ... fucking temple. Amazingly, i saw a counter going down,
soon hitting 0. Wow. A game.
Good 'ol dull as hell ZvT
Map: Temple (sigh)
Players:

[o]bmpo
(bmpo)
randoms to yellow zerg at 9
ZvT is always an interesting matchup. And the fact that the two players are pretty
close together creates some more interesting things. It makes a quick rine rush more
viable b/c of less travel distance. But bmpo can do such things as lurker elevate, and muta raids are easy
as well. As far as the players themselves are concerned, i had heard of bmpo before, but
not Omen.
And the-feared let -TOOL- join, and that's just plain sad =).
bmpo's ovie quickly finds Omen, giving both players knowledge of their enemy's race. Omen proceeds to go
hard infantry, going depot, rax, rax, depot, rax. bmpo goes quick lair tech, going early
gas, pool, and then quickly a lair.
The lair soon begins to morph, and Omen sends a scv for recon, noting this same lair before dieing to
a few lings. bmpo then makes a hydra den and a hatch at his natural, going for an obvious
choice in ZvT, lurkers. However, his choice to expand to his natural was risky, because he
was very low on troops, and wouldn't be getting any soon until his lurks pop out.
Meanwhile, Omen gets gas and continues to mass some marines from his 3 rax's, soon
gathering 8 marines. Figuring that he'd best get smart or face the wrath of some outcast,
he decided to send em to do some damage. So those same 8 marines, along with an scv, head
out of Omen's base. They run into bmpo's defenseless, still building hatch at his natural, but decide
to forgo it - probably a smart move, because if he were to be stalled by this, bmpo would
probably get lurkers, and the marines would be just about useless.
bmpo
is in big trouble. His lurkers wont finish morphing anytime soon, and he only has about 6 lings and a couple hydras to deal with the marines. Things only get
worse when Omen sends his marines right in between bmpo's gas mine and minerals, and
begins to slaughter helpless drones. bmpo, knowing he has no other alternative, sends both
his lings and drones simultaneously at the marines. At first the marines show their stuff,
shooting down quite a few lings. But bmpo, once his melee forces get right up next to the rines, are
able to take them down. However, bmpo lost all but about 7 drones, hurting his economy greatly.
Despite his successful attack, Omen has still not gotten an academy, but instead opted for a
fact. He also chooses to press his advantage further, and brings another small group
of marines up to bmpo's natural, preparing to bunker him up and finish it with tanks. However, bmpo, despite being
in trouble with his economy, was already morphing a single lurker by that time. And of
course, we all know that lurkers are pretty good vs scvs building bunkers. So let's hope
you all know what happened to mr.scv.
Terrified by the death of their slave, the marines hauled ass back to home. Omen also begins
construction of a starport and engineering bay, knowing that detection is useful when
facing lurkers. Once the port finishes, he builds a science facility for SVs. Once the
engineering bay finishes building, he lifts it off, floats it the short distance to bmpo's
base to find a rather suspicious overlord slowly moving between the two cliffs. But bmpo, knowing that
doing a lurker drop would not be the best decision at that point, wisely sends the ovie
back. Omen also discovers that bmpo has burrowed a lurker at his natural when a few
marines get spiked pretty hard up the ass.
bmpo, after getting rid of the
silly eng bay with some hydras, loads up that same lurk into the same ovie and ships him
over to Omen's base for some kinky intentions. But alas, twas not to be. Omen already had
marines stationed there after the first time that bmpo had loaded the lurker in, and they
scared away the ovie, but unfortunately for him, didn't kill it. The ovie (with 24 hp)
unloaded the lurk inbetween the two bases (in that little low ground area thingy), and the
lurker's range turned out to be just enough for it to make a bunch of marines heads tear
off quite nicely.
Vultures own zerg?
Some wacky crap
starts to take place. Omen loads up a couple marines and 3 mighty vultures into a
shuttle, and ships em first to the far left side of his base, and then north, directly
into bmpo's peon line. bmpo noticed this quickly, and sent his drones fleeing to his
natural, without losing more than a few. He also sent a lurker there to deal with the
intruders, but Omen got cute and re-loaded his cargo back into his dropship.
Meanwhile, bmpo finally decides to get his head out of his ass and do something. Not that he does too much, although i suspect that you don't need
too much against the-feared anyway. He sends a couple more mighty lurkers to Omen's natural, and
with an ovie for sight, begins taking potshots at one of Omen's depots that's near his
choke. By that time, Omen has an SV, but very few troops since he had been teching. So
he tried to send a few marines, but they just ended up being another sacrifice for the
trashpile of a race known as terran.
The bad news for bmpo is that those nasty nasty vultures were still wandering
around his main and
natural for some reason. Planting mines and being a general pain in the ass, they were
creating some havoc. One vulture at bmpo's main forces him to retreat all his drones into the corner
before a single hydra can finish it, while a couple wander around his natural, blowing up
a few drones before bmpo builds a single sunken, and along with a couple hydras, is able
to kill the scary vultures. So the main idea in all of that crap is that Omen wandered around
with a few vultures, killed a few marines, and i got to see a very exciting battle of 2
vultures vs a creep colony.
All that vulture crap was probably annoying bmpo even more than it normally would, because at the time he was
trying to push his way into Omen's base with his lurkers. His few lurkers have forced their way
to the top of Omen's ramp, and things were certainly looking bad for Omen when he only had a few
marines and an SV compared to bmpo's lurks. But somehow, Omen pulled a victory out of his
ass, with his few marines defeating bmpo's lurks. Omen, pleased with his victory, decides to float the newly
finished CC in his main to the bottom right island.
A brief lull in action occurs, with the players concentrating on trying to macro (a
rarity in this particular game). bmpo begins to rebuild his pretty crappy economy, still running into some drunk
vultures here and there, before at last finishing them off with a few hydras. Omen has started
making wraiths to compliment his very very anti zerg army. He sends 2 of them to bmpo's main, where
they kill off an ovie before retreating at the sight of several weakened hydras, who keep
getting chased after by those damn relentless and vicious spider mines that Omen's vultures
excreted. Gee, if only zerg had a good detector ... hmm.
Troopwise, bmpo has been steadily making hydras and lurkers, and has constructed a spire
for either mutas or scourge to get rid of those damn SVs. Meanwhile, Omen lands his CC at
the bottom right island and starts massing a very odd army of marines (no medics),
vultures, wraiths, and SVs. He also FINALLY begins construction of an academy, and starts
irradiating random things that he can find near bmpo's natural, but nothing particularly productive or amusing.
For the love of god,
someone macro
bmpo begins to rally his hydras and lurkers to Omen's natural, while
simultaneously expanding to the 12 main. However, he brings them back upon seeing that Omen has committed
another damn 4 vulture drop on him. The vultures proceed to lay an assload of mines and
throw some grenades at stuff, but are general just a pain in the ass for poor little old
me to follow. However, this turned out to just be the precursor for the main attack (4
vultures had BETTER be a precursor). Omen drops off 2 dropships full of marines and
vultures, being escorted with 2 wraiths and 2 SVs. bmpo quickly responds, scourging
one of the SVs and sending his 7 hydras to deal with the intruders. And to my surprise,
the hydras were easily wasted, thanks to a healthy dose of irradiate, with very few
casulties on the terran side.
The marines, vultures, wraiths, and lone SV move onward to bmpo's main, to be
confronted by a lurker, a few hydras, and a sunken. This finally proved to be too much for
the ragtag band of terrans, mostly because of the lurker and sunken, and so the remaining
4 rines, vult, wraith, and SV retreated off of bmpo's main.
Suddenly, i notice a few yellow dots at Omen's only active mining base,
the south east. To my delight, mostly because bmpo has done right next to jack shit this
game, the lurkers easily tear apart the terran base, forcing Omen's 2 (yes, he made 2 CCs for
some reason) CCs to float north insearch of minerals. So Omen has 0 active mining
bases right now, and has to rely on his backup money (aka how much he has been putzing).
Ah, but don't count out that genius Omen. Despite having no income, he has discovered a new terran
weapon ... known as the TANK. And he has found out that they are good vs lurkers and
sunkens! Oh my, thats 2gosu4me. Yeah, so he shipped over a couple via dropship to bmpo's main via
dropship, seiged them up, and started pounding on his buildings - specifically, a hydra den. A
few lurkers try to stop them, but to no avail, as they are caught by some scattered spider
mines that still seem to persist in taunting bmpo. After doing sufficient damage, the tanks are unseiged and
all of Omen's troops charge, knowing that if they die, it may be the end for Omen. And they luck
out - finding only a single sunken. bmpo tries desperately to defend with his drones, and is able to
kill all but the 2 tanks. But 2 tanks are still more than enough to kill a lair, and they
do so, with 2 more tanks joining them, upping the total at bmpo's now dead base to 4.
By now, Omen is aware that bmpo has expanded to
the 12 main, and so he sends a small (or maybe just all that he can afford) cleaning up
crew to end the enemy infestation of that area. And his small group of marines and
vultures were all that he needed, doing just fine in killing some innocent drones. Seeing
that his 12 exp is dead, and that Omen took his natural a moment ago, bmpo realizes that his end is
near, and so he concedes the game. He adds in some extra comments/hacker accusations for
shits and giggles before leaving. People people, manners! =) But it was a neat game to
watch, despite it's putzyness. GG Omen and bmpo!
