Map: Lost temple
me: protoss (9:00)
opponent: random terran (6:00)
I've been playing some of my worst starcraft this weekend
in quite a while. I've lost every single game on friday
3/31 and saturday 4/1 of the millenium. So the answer must
be to try again!! ^^ Since I know not his race, I go with
the following build:
8 pylon
11 gate
12 pylon
gate
12th probe scouted 12-3-6.

I made a couple zlots, but switched to goons as I see the
wall-in forming. I pump from 2 gates for a bit. I also
slink a zlot behind the ore patches of his natural, so
watch for an expansion attempt.

When I've got 6 goons at his choke, I start on templari
tech. I also send a probe to the 12:00 main to get another
base. When the probe arrives, I halt goon production to
make the nexus. I place 1 cannon in my main my by ore line.

The 8 goons kill a vulture that tries to speed past my
containment attempt. It makes me feel a little better,
because in the games I've been losing, I usually see a tank
push with mine support and they don't bother to scout just
kick my arse. I make a few DTs, one placed by my cannon in
my main, 2 others to the containment.

Then the most unexpected thing occurs. About 8-12 cloaked
wraiths fly into my main and blow up the lone cannon real
fast. I don't even have a robofac. I run my probes around,
knowing they'll die but at least it'll take longer for it
to happen. I start a robofac at 12:00, and while I REALLY
don't want to do it, I pull my forces out of containment to
defend.

I had many good reasons, and they were all being shuttled
to the edge of my main by a lone dropship. m&m.

My goons are sufficent to overpower the m&m, and eventually
the first observer floats over, ending this fiasco. Now I
knew he was doing this to expand to his natural, especially
since that zlot behind the ore patches died to tank fire.
My head was spinning. Send my forces to his natural to
*try* to stop the expansion with my depleted forces and low
income and have more m&m come in via dropship to kill my
main? Leave forces in my main and definitely not kill the
expansion attempt?

I sent my forcs over to the natural, and ordered 3 more
gates as the probe count built back up. Once there, I see
bunker command. 3 bunkers going up, depots around those. A
tank deep inside all of that. Not good. My first attack
kill the tank and most of the structures, but a 2nd tank on
his cliff finished my troops. While more troops, more zlots
than goons now, rally to outside his choke, he is building
up the defense. I send about 10 speedy zlots and some goons
in, but I can already tell I'm getting dimishing returns
from these attacks. Each time, his defense is a little
stronger, with more depots in the way, more tanks. He puts
tanks on his own turbo newbie. At least he didn't add
firebats.

I add a 6th gate and expand to the 3:00 main, while zlots
and some goons pile up outside his choke. I order a ht,
since storm had been researched. I also had been slowly
adding observers, and sent one to the se island. I find
another base here. this one with 4 bunkers covering
everything, but no turrets, so I stick the observer in the
corner. I power up to 10 gates.

Now, had I been smart and massed templar or dweb, I
might've dented his natural. But I run in more zlots and
don't really succeed in doing anything but losing 1000's of
minerals' worth of troops. I would bring up a HT to storm
from behind these troops, but those SCVs just never seemed
to die.

I expanded to the 9:00 natural when my main was dry. Lotsa
resources, but no results. Out come the SVs to irradiate
the HTs. What should this tell me? Mass m&m? Mass tanks? Or
is he just annoyed?

Then he busts out with about a control group and a half of
unseiged tanks with gollies. I'm not sure what his upgrades
were, but I had neglected to upgrade and was at 1/1/0. He
uses selective orbing to make this force last long enough
to kill my 9:00 natural, Then returns the few remaining
gollies home. I wish I had left a few token HT around, but
he was happy with irradiate from the SVs he brought over so
I dunno if it would matter much.

Then as we pile up forces, he busts out with even MORE
tanks and gollies, and begins expanding to his 2nd natural.
He vaporizes my forces and I concede the game as I'm not
making a dent anymore. If mark4 or someone would point out
what options I should have taken, I'd like to know. I'm
just getting tired of losing. :/
