Ko[B]ull vs BlueAura

Welcome my 2nd BR on Ko[b]ull, 4th BR overall. As you
remember from last time, Kobull completely decimated Korean. He had
no chance. Will he sucecced on another pvz on an unknown map? We
shall see.
Pregame Prediction
Well apparantly Kobull is very hungry and is ready to blame a loss
on it. Determined to be able to BR a good game I got out a pencil and
got ready to watch a normal game. If only I knew...
For those of you who do not know about Forsaken Valley (probobly
all of you) It is a 4 player map with 12 expansion spots. 10 of them
are mineral only, 6 of them in a valley inaccessably from ground
only. There are 2 other gas expansions, one on the each side. Very
basic unit's friendly with the low amount of gas, but heavy tech
units are rare. BTW, you need air units to get to the lower mineral
spots. Wierd, Huh? Given the dificulty of reading yellow on white,
all things relating to Kobull will be in
Blue
As the game started I see a fully black screen. Grrr, the maker of
the observer map forgot the ability for the observer to see all. Any
way, Aura and Kobull quickly ally with me and I get to see
the build orders. Aura goes for a very
early gas going extractor, pool, hatch, and 2
sunkens. Kobull goes the same
order as last time, which is pylon, gate, nexus
at exp, pylon, and gateway. Again both sides go for fast cash.
But Aura decides to attack after a
little wait.
Kobull had sent a zealot to scout and that guy gave Kobull a
little bit of time to prepare. All of the lings were exterminated with the loss of only
that one zealot. Kobull, with no cannons and 3 Dragoons, now
has to fight a follow-up attack!
So with driving off that attack, Kobull decides to retaliate. Why attack a
fully defended main, when you can kill a defensless expansion?
So both players are hella mad! Aura
loses a mutalisk when chasing the zealots back. Remember that since Aura has Mutas,
he has a Spire, and since he has a Spire, he has a Lair. He has researched OVIE SPEED AND DROP. 4 ovies come into Kobull's main. WHAT ARE IN THEM! Remember that
Kobull has no observers or cannons. Think. LURKERS!
Another close call, this time defeated with the aid of storms. This time Kobull lost a lot of men plus his NEXUS! If this keeps up... Well it could. For
Kobull, right after clearing away the
last of the lurkers, has to fight
another drop!
Kobull survives this attack with the
reinforcements from his exp. It appears the early exp has WEAKENED
Kobull because he has his forces split.
Interesting! But that weakness has almost disappeared. Why? Kobull's Main is in ruins! Only a few pylons and a gateway remain. Soon another
attack comes!
Sigh. Most of the guardians didn't
even attack the rest of the main. Only one guardian decided to go for the main kill. The
rest were eliminated by goons and storm. Kobull is
fed up. Aura is wiping him all over the
valley! He decides to try his luck attacking an exp!
NOT THE LURKERS! ANYTHING BUT THE
LURKERS! With no portable detection the
army is just destroyed. Now let's look at the exp chart!
The score is 3-2 in KOBULLS favor.
With all the attacking, Aura has been
too distracted to expand! But one problem: One EXP that Kobull controls is under seige by Lurkers! Neither side is budging with cannons keeping the lurkers at bay. Eventually some guardians come to finish off the damaged
expansion. Aura has almost complete
control of this match. He has destroyed Kobull's main, forced him to stay on the
defensive, and now is mining like heck. He is also being a complete
nuscuance with his queens. By simply
Broodlinging anything he can, he has
reacked havoc on all attacks. But the time has come, he muses, to pay
a visit to the Pseudo-main that is in the Lower Left mineral only.
Can Kobull survive?
NOOOOO! THE MAIN HAS BEEN SAVED! With excelent storm usage and a buncha ground units, the
attack is successfully thwarted. A four or five dozen zerg units give their life to try to defeat
the base. Only a few protoss units die
do to good micro. But what is this? A strange event has taken place
at the old Kobull Main! It looks, it
looks like.......................
A NEXUS!
Believe it or not, that is a new picture! The old main has been
resettled do to lack of interest by Aura. Just when you think you've killed
something...
Any way, Aura has no knowledge of
this and decides to use the major abundance of minerals and make a
shitload of zerglings! He sends a drop
of hydros to attack the Lower right
mineral only! WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Thanks to the dts and storms there the hydros do not kill the expansion, but hurt it
badly. Just as the hydros are
dispatched, guess what charges into town!
What can I say? I SAID A SHITLOAD OF LINGS! Ain't that a shitload of lings? After destroying the exp, the lings head into the lower right main and die
to storms and zealots. Kobull is wishing for revenge! He has the
troops, he has the guts, and he has a target. SO WHY NOT? He sends a
contingent of zealots, dragoons, high
templars, and an archon into
Aura's mineral only!
FINALLY KOBULL WINS A BATTLE!
Although he took heavy losses, Aura took
far more as lings, hydros, and queens
all die defending the area. Good thing that Kobull didn't go into the main, for the 24
lings would have murdered the poor
souls. Right now both players are thinking about quiting just because
they are SO DAMN TIRED! I believe it has been an hour since the game
started. LONG! They are wishing for a draw, but neithers side will
actually conceede a draw. THEY WANT TO FINISH! Fine by me. More PICS!
Aura has a HUGE ling army. I mean there are 6 dozen of those
things. Aura is still not aware of the
retaking of the main and he decides to end this game. He sends his
army at the mineral only main. Can Kobull survive this assault?
AURA IS VERY HAPPY! He thinks it is
only a clean up job from now on. With the Mineral only squashed, all
he has to do is find the remaining bases. But check out this shot:
DAMN. THAT'S A LOT OF ZEALOTS! He has
6 GATEWAYS producing these things
non-stop! He also has a trio of bases in the valley! But that
advantage will end soon.
The 2 valley exps in the south are destroyed easily, for no army
is stationed there. Remember that all of Kobull's robotics
facilities were destroyed in the Mineral only. He has no way
to shuttle troops between the valley and
the top. After reloading his army in the ovies, he sends them on a drop to finish off
Kobull. Bad idea. Kobull has a small air force and look what
happens!
Two overlords stopped long enough to
get some troops out, but not enough to save the ovies. All 6 died to antimatter and this was very signifigant. Why?
Think. We are in the extremely late game. Almost no gas left. Few
mineral patches not claimed. The loss of 6 overlords are 600 minerals themselves. If they
all had lings in them then he lost a
total of 1800 minerals. Ouch. Major loss. Here is the army situation
now. Both sides are concentrating on mineral only units. Kobull is making zealots non stop and using the rest of his gas
to make archons. Aura is making mass lings and using the last of his gas to make
hydros and lurkers. NO AIR. The fleet
you see in the pictures above is old. Kobull has no stargates.
Meanwhile, Kobull asked for a pause. He
had to clear his intestinal track from the meal he had during the
mutalisk rush. In lay man's terms. He had to take a shit. While he
was gone, Aura gave me a secret piece of
information.

WOW. Aura does of course have a pair
of mineral exps but he is not mining them very hard. He decides to
try and finish this. He sends all of his units on a drop. IS THIS THE
END? I hope so.
ARGHH! WILL THIS GAME NEVER END? The zealots
and archons manage to defeat the drop with noticable
casualties. Kobull and Aura decide to rebuild. Aura, after getting a ton of lings, sends them on a drop. WILL THIS FINISH
IT?
Aack! IT WAS AN AMBUSH! The lings
dropped right into a trap and very few protoss casualties were caused by the battle.
But Aura is not done. He builds as many
lings, hydros, and lurkers as he can and sends them on the
attack!
Everyone thought the game was over. The zealots were being owned by lings, hydros, and lurkers but 3 archons with some other zealots come to save the day with an amazing
final battle. A few more skirmishes happen but after a few minutes
KoBull disconnects, leaving me with a
draw on my hands. So then, WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD HAVE WON THE GAME?
Reply in the comments section and I will tally up the votes, seeing
WHO IS THE VICTOR!
Lessons Learned:
- Zerg rule on Forbidden Valley
with their cheap transportation.
- Archons+Zeals+Observers>lings+hydros+lurkers
- Beware of the early game muta
rush
- It ain't over till it's over.
Seriously though, it really isn't over till the last base has
fallen. Kobull made a great comeback
into owning the skys and ground. If it weren't for both players
defensive prowess, this game would never had lasted as long. The
lurkers really helped BlueAura defend
his bases and attack Kobull, and if it
weren't for the choboness of both guys, this game may have been over
sooner.
