ADS versus VE

NOTE: This report will not be as action packed as I expected, because it is an old war I took place in, and I was assigned to the last line of defence for my clan, being a new recruit. Plus I will abuse the ( , : and ) keys :) :( hehe.

Oh yeah, if I can scrape up 25 or so reports of this, u should make a FPS section :)

This was a 3 match series between VE (Vanguard Elite) (Navy blue because they are the equivalents of the royals in this game) Rated 7/43 at the time on the Australian teamplay ladder, equivalent to a 1500 ladder player who deserves 1500, and ADS (Australian Demented Sadistics) (Purple because we represent the poor Starcraft players who get purple, an automatic loss) .Rated 39/43 at the time, like a player rated 850 but used to be about 700.

I was unavailable for the first map due to my laggy ISP (Pink, because it is gay), with its 2 hour limit, and ADS fought hard and managed to tie (yes tie, we played above ourselves) the first map 30-30 (2fort)

The second map was rock2. The object: To grab a key out of the enemy wardens office (WO) and take it to the enemy Gas Chamber (GC) to release deadly nerve gas that kills EVERYONE who is not inside the wardens offices, the gas chamber (it locks itself when you release gas) ,underwater, or puts on a protective suit from the resupply areas. My role was to choose the soldier and stand next to the key, wherever that might lie, fragging offensive players

I had support from Crusty, who had to build a sentrygun near the entrance and blow people up. Other defensive players were: Vampiro, who made a sentrygun in the yard (main way in) to stop attackers, VeNoM who was a demoman, and he had to lay 'explosive pineapples', or pipe bombs (which sit there and can be detonated on command) at the yard entrance and keep our tunnels sealed with detpacks (the tunnels give intruders easy access to the back of our defence) and Sorceror Bob, who like me, was a soldier, but he patrolled the top level and made the enemies 'eat unholy rocket death' as stated on our battle plans. We had three offensive players, but they won't be in my report much at all.

(See screenshot 1)

OOH, a screenshot! This is where I stood when our defence managed to keep out the enemy. This sort of looks like the place a boss or a headmaster would sit and let people (cowering I might add) in and fire/suspend them :) The key is just to the left of me, and down the end of that hallway and to the left is where Crusty's SG (sentrygun) stood

Ok, on to the report!

We had a 5 minute pre match chat, as is standard for all clan wars. Our leaders, Vampiro, Sorceror Bob and Omni said 'if we lose 45-0 well done!' 45-0 would be the equivalent of losing 3 captures to 0. Then it was on! Nervous energy ran through my veins as I rushed to my post as a soldier. Then I fell asleep! For the first 12-15 minutes ADS did a superb job at keeping out everyone, but so did VE. The only action I saw was when Crusty's SG  was killed and a medic came in and munched on 4 rockets and a grenade (and a pear dropped by a partridge who crashed into a pear tree)

We never even touched the key. Then VE upped the ante and placed 4 on offence and 3 on defence, they were a man down but the rules state they have to play on or forfeit. Crusty's SG was taking a pounding, dying 20 times over before he could fully upgrade it, VeNoM couldn't lay his pineapples fast enough, Vampiro had trouble setting his SG up due to its difficult to reach position, and

Sorceror Bob spent most of his time climbing up to his post. Which left Me (CatSplat).

Every 30 seconds, a scout or medic would run in and either die before reaching me,  or else would get stuck on Crusty's Dispenser,

(which looks like that thing in screenshot 2) and getting fragged. One such scout got his head stuck in the wall as he climbed over the dispenser (no time for screenshot, a medic was right behind him)

Now Crusty can detonate his dispenser, but when the medic beat me, and grabbed  the key, he failed to do so (later he explained that his  keys were not bound properly  because he  didn't know how to) As I rushed back to the key, the medic who had it ran straight into me, and ate 'unholy rocket death' (VE had holy rockets, we are the evil peoples!! ) Then for  the next minute, ADS played stacks-on-the-key, piling pineapples, dispensers and bodies on top of it until it returned to its original spot. Yet again, once  I got defeated they grabbed the key again, this time a soldier got it (man that was some lousy D, to let a slowarse soldier in, and I let him beat me (*hangs head in shame*)

Crusty had still not blown up his dispenser, and the soldier absorbed enough fire to move the key to the middle of the yard, and stacks on again prevailed for us, this time I was in on the act, getting my twelfth frag, but dying again to Nailgun fire. However,  the enemy scouts and medics moved the key an inch twice, therefore leaving the key sitting there for an extra 60 seconds :) As I was out of position, guarding the dropped key, a medic was hot on my heels as I returned to the key. I had about 3 seconds to react, and made him eat one rocket, but he climbed over Crusty's dispenser (which I screamed for him to blow up) and dodged my second rocket, which was quite a feat in that enclosed space

He ran to the yard, taking small amounts of damage from my rockets hitting behind his feet, when he conced up to the top level. Sorceror Bob was unfortunately on the other side, helpless, and the medic ran along the top level, and dropped down a fair way in front of me as I raced to reach the gas chamber, I yelled 'GAS FFS!!' and he scored! I rushed to get a suit, and the only people who died were Omni, stuck on offence far away from the water, and two VE guys in our yard attempting to quickly steal the key and move it a bit. Now we had only touched the key ONCE, dogMARney telling me after he got it right to the gas chamber, damn it!

There were about 5 minutes left, and VE squeezed two scouts in to get the key. I dropped a nail grenade, hid and received two kills for my efforts :) Our offence was now up to 5, but we only managed to get the key to the yard due to VE's fantastic defence. I was moved to our yard, where a LOT of kills resulted for me! Pity, they managed to move the key to the yard one last time, before the map ended; leaving them victorious :(

Stats- Map rock2, 30 minutes of play

VE- 15 team score.

ADS- 0 team score. (lost my screenshot sorry)

Me- 22 kills, 8 deaths, roughly 225 latency [I looked at the scoreboard a LOT in the first 15 boring minutes :)]

Lessons

Get high up in clan ranks, now I am a higher rank, I am sometimes on offence or the front defensive line

Play Defence in public servers, people who are idiots will rave about your godly skills when you waste a lot of half dead medics and/or scouts (I am not perfect, and I can beat medics when outnumbered 3 to 1 anyways)

Poll: What do you want to see more of in my report? (just write them out in your comments, I just numbered them to give em more meaning hehe)

1- Screenshots

2- Gory Details

3- Humorous incidents

4- Tactical in-depth insights into TFC

5- Public games (my first report was just a run of the mill public game)

6- Clan wars (that is the worst a clan war can get, I will have another war in about 3 weeks to report on hehe)

7- Nothing, I gave u a 10! (Hint Hint)

Being a Starcraft and HTML Newbie, here are my pitiful 2 screenshots!

I spaced the damn thing out, used HTML and colours, and put in all my pitiful collection of screenshots, gimme a 9 FFS!
