Its the story
Of a Turtle
And how he was always stuck up in a shell
He was born, one average turtle, and he was all blocked in
Its the story
Of another turtle
That was thinking he may leave his shell.
It didn't change the fact, he was turtle, that was not Terran.
Then one day the turtle met the turtle
And They knew it was much more than a shell
They built, defense all-round their bases, and thought.. of.. this..
The Turtlin' Bunch<
The Turtlin' Bunch
Their may.. only.. be two... but they still called themselves a bunch

Its part of my story I have to say to you today. I will get to that later on though. Ok now here we go.

You sit in your computer chair mid-afternoon and think to yourself time for some Starcraft. Your at your Windows 98 desktop screen and go Start, Program Files, Starcraft, Starcraft Brood Wars. You load up starcraft and click multiplayer. You click on battlenet. You then see your username up and type in your password and in a quick second your on, well sometimes. You get put into some random Blizzard Chat channel. What you do from there, I don't know. But what I did the day of this report, was some seeking for a game that I could BR because I was on a mission.

I create a game on the map 'Discovery' using a observer map and I'm thinking under use map settings this is going to be kind of hard to get people in. So now get ready for another presentation from some person you've never heard of and reporting on people you've never heard of....well here we go!!!

Well I start a 1v1 on it because it only is able to have 2 players on it and I have a brief chat with them in the startup screen and well heres your players for todays game:

Like I said earlier, probably some guys you have never heard of :). Well the match starts out a Protoss versus Protoss which I'm thinking won't be the most exciting game. Anyways I watch and see as each player produces drones and does some initial mining. Then I decide to compare their Pylon builds and see if one is going faster than the other. So I do that and I find out what I was looking for.

I find out purple is ahead. Not by too much but has a little lead. Then something happens that really ticks me off.

Probably going to disconnect on someone else too

I had to push drop cuz' the dummy disconnected. Disconnecting in a Use Map Settings game?, must have been more of a BGHer than I thought. Well that does it...NOT. I was going to find a game to battle report no matter what that I didn't have to play in. It seemed now after much time I'd have to go to my last resort; having two of my battlenet buddys fight each other and battlereport them. Luckily for me in about 15 minutes after this 2 of mine we're. I told them to come to a channel and I asked them and they said fine. I created the game once and one buddy, (WAR)-[destiny] didn't like the map and wanted blood bath. I really didn't want that though but I decided ok and I create. Now to meet the 2 contestants...

[DB]SS=TRUNKS : I think he plays a good amount of Use Map Settings maps an not as much regular melee. His record isn't great, but I don't think he cares too much about it. I have a good idea of what he is going to do this game. He selects Protoss. He also is in some clan which I think is a DragonBallZ clan.

(WAR)-[destiny] : Another BattleNet friend in a clan. Weapons Always Ready or something like that. I kind of like that acronym but I don't know if the Clan is any good. I've played with him many occassions and he tends to use Zerg like I usually do and sometimes has some similar strats as me but tends to turtle more. He has a decent record thats like 20-6-7 or something like that.

I really didn't want a Zerg vs Prot matchup because well quick rush and thats another quick game. Heres whats funny.

LOL

This cracks me up. Hes talking about minutes to wait till attack (or rush). Hes Zerg vs Prot, On BBath, asking for rush. Simply I don't care, it would be hell-a-funny to see Zerg get rushed on Blood Bath. Well I issue the countdown timer and the game is officially off.

[DB]SS=TRUNKS gets the bottom left corner and Protoss and (WAR)-[destiny] recieves Zerg at the bottom right. Its only a matter of time before they discover each other. Still, they hadn't yet and when I looked at the Zergs first spawning pool and the Protoss's first pylon, I was again kind of amazed. Never a better oppourtunity for a rush, but (WAR)-[destiny] did not want a rush which was a good thing for the Protoss.

[DB]SS=TRUNKS had just started his Pylon and (WAR)-[destiny] had started his pool a little while ago. The zerggish strategist planner was not going for a rush at least, and it should be interesting what happens.

Tale of Two Turtles not Terran

This is where the Turtling part of the game begins. This is what I did not want to happen. Well before [DB]SS=TRUNKS even builds a gateway he builds 5 pylons, yes that is right, 5 pylons. I felt like just dissing on him so much but I decided not to. It seems the like the 2 opponents wanted to though. [DB]SS=TRUNKS Says 'F You' to (WAR)-[destiny] for bringing his overlord to his base and (WAR)-[destiny] says: and the response and this was all over one of the Zergs overlords coming into the Protoss base. The Zerg also scouts the top right corner and Protoss checks the top left corner as there is some small scouting.

(WAR)-[destiny] seems to agree with me on the pylon thing and goes . Lets look at the evidence of the starting of the Two Turtles.

This is just the start of the game. May I add neither has made any units other than overlords/probes/drones. I made some comments to them I will not put in here though. A small conversation then comes up which I have no idea that got started and I add in my two cents here because it has been a while.

(WAR)-[destiny] said something and [DB]SS=TRUNKS says something and I just have to reply. There was actually two 'WE WANT ACTION' chants I said but I couldn't get the whole line to fit in the image, darn. I was thinking the first fight had to breakout soon now. And while I was comparing the Turtles below (Not all of Protoss Cannons in SS).

Hey I can count!

Hey you all are probably getting bored, and finally something actually happens, unit contact!. (SECOND MIDI)

The Zerg should eat the slime of the Dragoon remains

BEFORE:Standing in the middle of the map. AFTER:Moving 2 Dragoons into someones Turtle Defense. I bet that wouldn't happen again (and amazingly it didn't). Very few units more are lost to Sunken Colonys. Meanwhile some more teching is going on as (WAR)-[destiny] gets a hive and [DB]SS=TRUNKS starts on his Templar Archive. Theres going to be more action I know it, and soon [DB]SS=TRUNKS initiative starts the next battles which I like to call...

The Major Battles Start, A-Lot of Air Too!

Music goes good here

Let me explain the picture now. Look at the number 1, that is part of (WAR)-[destiny]'s air force. It is in the top right corner of the actual map. The scout is one of [DB]SS=TRUNKS that just came out of his Stargate. He is currently making some air forces and he has a few other things of air around too. Now that we covered the first 2 numbers look at number 3. [DB]SS=TRUNKS brings his scouts over and starts attacking mutalisks. His scouts actually do pretty good versus the Mutas but end up dying in the end because they we're outnumbered. Still thats not the only attack going on as his Dragoons are attacking (WAR)-[destiny]'s expansion. It is a good attack because (WAR)-[destiny] has nothing really to bring over except what just morphed out in picture number 5 and that is guardians. He dosn't even think about moving them towards the Dragoons as corsairs come to fight the Guardians. (WAR)-[destiny] ends up attacking [DB]SS=TRUNKS base with them and takes out some Cannons and Pylons but that is about it.

The 6 is where (WAR)-[destiny]'s expansion used to be. He has a few forces up there trying to fight off a lone dragoon. In the end most the dragoons retreat or are killed by some Mutas sent up there. Now that I look at the game I'm thinking something; where are (WAR)-[destiny]'s hydras?. The answer is He has no Hydralisk Den. Its the first time I've seen where someone has skipped the den. He should have some mobile ground to air defense which the Hydras provide but he dosn't. For a while [DB]SS=TRUNKS has the big upper hand on the game. Will he continue to do so?.

(WAR)-[destiny]'s Non-Mobile Ground to Air Defense

Well if he has no hydras, very few mutas, he has to get some type of air defense. Now (WAR)-[destiny] gets an Evolution Chamber. Personally [DB]SS=TRUNKS made a mistake that partly cost him the game and that was letting the Evolution Chamber build. He could have brought all his air units in and kill the drones. Instead he has his scouts attack the sunken colonys. WTF?, that is my reaction. I'm thinking attack those drones, stop (WAR)-[destiny] from mining or making air defense. Instead he gets his Evolution Chamber finished. He starts morphing in those Spore colonys and the scouts continue to harass parts of (WAR)-[destiny]'s base. Finally the first one morphs up and starts attacking while more are soon to be done.

It ends up being one Spore north of the Hive, one south, one east, and one west, all surrounding the hive. The 3-4 scouts in that area fire their weak air to ground guns at the Spores and simply explode and die and rest with all of their fellow Protoss allies. Meanwhile, (WAR)-[destiny] is now making big production of Mutalisks and morphing most into guardians or devourers. This is a problem for [DB]SS=TRUNKS as his weakened air force may not be able to hold back the newly developed Zerg air. (I will show you the force soon). The reason he is able to build a Zerg air force quick is because he has 3 hatches and is mining decently now that he started his expansion again. The protoss seemed to use a lot of money on the Air raid which ended up being stopped by Spore Colonys. The next picture shows why letting the Evolution Chamber build was a mistake.

Look whos winning now

The Tides Have Turned

It happened, The Zerg are currently winning and have a huge advantage over the Protoss. (WAR)-[destiny] has a huge advantage wiping out all of [DB]SS=TRUNKS main base that wasn't really mining much. Orange did have an expansion at the top left though just as yellow had one at the top right. Carriers are coming from the Protoss base as the Guardians move back and the Devourers move in to fight. Here we go to one big fight of this matchup:

[DB]SS=TRUNKS actually wins this matchup. He has a few surviving carriers and another one from home he brings over to join his team. Now instead of going back on defense and saving his last expansion and only way of mining he decides to go on an attack, actually it is two attacks, both which are suicide attacks. The first attack he goes for is the carrier attack. The second attack, well let the picture explain itself. During some of this time (WAR)-[destiny] has built up some more devourers to combat the carriers and it should be interesting to see if [DB]SS=TRUNKS can pull of an attack success on the Zerg turf.

In this attack the Devourers own the Carriers even with bad microing. Going into the Spores was a bad choice by the Protoss fleet commander. The Devourers end up destroying every last Carrier over there leaving the Protoss Air Forces down to 0. Also there are few ground forces left of the Protoss. Actually, no combat units at all. All he has really is some probes mining some minerals. I told him to attack with all his probes at the yellow expansion and kill some workers. He moves his workers and a fight pursues.

Now, For The Kill

Too bad for the probes. [DB]SS=TRUNKS has no units left now really. He did manage to kill some of (WAR)-[destiny]'s drones though before the Guardians cleaned their clocks. The Guardians move from the top left and start destroying all of the rest of the Protoss base. The minimap is much different than when Orange occupied 2 bases. Here is a picture of the new minimap and some Mutas helping the Guardians destroy the last of [DB]SS=TRUNKS. But think though if [DB]SS=TRUNKS hadn't let (WAR)-[destiny] get his evolution chamber up for make any more air, the game outcome could have been different.

Ending Comments

I hope you have enjoyed this report. Also not one unit of the Zerg got hit by a cannon. The guardians stayed out of cannon range and nothing else even went into the cannons. What a waste of money. Only 2 Dragoons went into the Sunkens totally, so the 2 Turtles just wasted there money on it. I hope the music added to the report and not deteriorate from it. Please give me some feedback to me if I need to improve anything. Thanks for Reading!. If you want to E-Mail me my address is chicken@pcez.com
