Me, Protoss, Top-left
Opponents: Tais and someone else (sorry, can't remember his name, and lots of S's ;) )
I had no BO, buildings sorta came out by instinct... Pylon on 8, Gate on 9, Assimilator on 10. I built a Cy Core as soon as the Gate finished and started harvesting gas. I made 2 Zealots for token defense and started climbing the Rob Fax branch (my favorite). I pumped out a Shuttle and a Reaver. I load the Reaver and head east for some action.
Oh, surprise, no one is at top-right! At this time I get the Shuttle speed upgrade completed and an Observer out. I send the Observer to top-right (for further expansion uses) and head down to the bottom-right starting location.
I go around the isle and find the peon line, consisting of happy working Drones, undefended. I drop my Reavers just outside and kill 5-6 Drones before 2 Hydras arrive. I load back my Reaver, but not before firing a last Scarab which kills the pesky Hydras. ;)
I head west to the last starting point. There I find some Probes and kill maybe 4 before Corsairs start hammering my Shuttle. I run it back to my main (where I have been pumpimg Drags from 2 Gates) and leave the Reaver there to die. It did kill one Zealot!
At this point, both opponents complain about being double-teamed. Realizing I wasn't attacked and that they probably fought each other, I burst out laughing, knowing I was lucky. After all, my defenses suck.
I begin producing Templars and pump out a couple of more Shuttles and Reavers. I also expand to top-right. But as I am warping the Nexus and 2 Cannons, I see an OL fly over. I cancel the warp fields, but realize (too late) the OL dropped only a Drone! My valiant Probe proudly kills it, and rebuilds the base.
The Zerg then left, probably because he was being constantly harassed by the Toss' Corsairs. I realized I lacked an airforce, so I quickly threw down 2 Stargates at my main and one Gateway at my expansion. There I made Templars and Drags for drop defense (I did need it later).
Now the rest of the game was pretty much Da Big Expansion Denial Drop Thingy. I made 12 Corsairs (1/1/1) and via Observers caught a glimpse of his Corsairs: they were 0/0/0. Mwahahaha. My airforce engages his over his central expansion. In the confusion I land 2 Temps and kill some Probes. My 12 Corsairs defeated his without taking any damage beyond shields! I was amazed at how upgrades helped in the airfight.
At this point he was struggling for ressources. He had one mining expansion left, but it was defended by a lot of Cannons. However it was on one of those islands which has 2 ressources spots and he had only taken one. I thwarted 2 attempts with a Shuttle filled with a couple of Reavers. Then the last big drop came on his only exp: 2 Reavers, 2 Temps, 1 Drag and my 12 Corsairs army. I Psi-Stormed (and got Psi-Stormed) but eventually I D-Webbed the defenses and Scarabbed the base to shit. But guess what arrives: the Carrier fleet... 4 of 'em. I used Psi-Storm again, killing 2 Carriers; my airforce destroyed the rest. I merged my 2 mana-depleted Temps into an Archon and razed the base. GG's were exchanged.
Lessons:
Damn I feel good after winning! ;) |
