All right people, I am releasing one last fan fic and then I am taking a break. I have had no good ideas since the chronicles and I need to get a better response. Sorry Khas but your character was voted into death. This will be a more future based fan fic where I do not have to comply with any Blizzard story lines. This is full pylon power here. Enjoy and comment, comment, comment. BTW…I am finally in the quotes…yes I did it, I am a winner, wooooooooooo.

The Starcraft Chronicles: First Strike

"The Brood Wars had come and gone. The power struggles forged into solid lines of stalemate. Each side locked in a purgatory of fear and anxiety. Kerrigan had stretched her power over half of what was once know as The Dominion. She had slaughtered millions of men, women and children in her wake. Her minions spread like a plague over the entire galaxy and many new creatures were added to her armies. Even the mighty Protoss were forced to retreat in the face of the Zerg as Aiur fell to the hated abominations. The Protoss were forced to flee and lived as nomads, traveling in space and always on the move. Many sought shelter among the Dark Templar and lived with their once outcast brethren. Those who were too proud to exist with the Dark One's were forced to lived as they once did, it the cold recesses of space. The terrans under Mensk were outraged that the Zerg were able to destroy their homes and kill their loved ones. Protests filled the Dominion worlds and Mensk would hear none of it. The emperor responded to the protests with brute force and mass execution. Finally the tide broken and millions of protestors rallied behind a young army officered named Daniel Pierce. Pierce was a mere lieutenant but his followers were at his command. With an army of one million, armed protestors, Pierce stormed the Imperial Palace and dragged Mensk from his throne. The last anyone heard from Mensk was when they loaded him into a dropship and pointed it towards Tarsonis. Pierce was appointed president over a new and glorious future. But power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Within a year, the glorious future gave way to a military government with Pierce as a savage dictator. With a military might and new technology, Pierce was able to retake the lost terran worlds. Soon, Zerg worlds such as Tarsonis and Char were firmly in the hands of the new terran Republic. The Republic continued to push and gain more and more power over the Zerg and Kerrigan. In the end, Kerrigan was forced to retreat to Aiur where she made her new base of operations. The planet now resembled little of the once lust and green jungles I had seen in my youth. The grassy plains gave way to creep carpets that stretched far and wide. All living things were killed and any Protoss structure was torn down. Then the fighting stopped and the three sides remained at each others throats but not at war. Kerrigan at Aiur, the Protoss at Shakuras, and the Republic in the terran sector.

Now the fighting appears to be on the rise as each side prepares for war. It has been nearly thirty years since the Brood Wars and we pick up where we left off. Terran killing Zerg, Protoss killing Zerg and Zerg killing everything. The Zerg attacked and killed the R.S Hamelton and her crew. We are now going to war against them. We need killing machines to fight Zerg. You recruits will be turned into full fledged fighting machines and we will separate the men from the boys in the next few weeks. Do I make myself clear!"

"Sir, yes sir!"

"You rawhides are to report to basic weapons training at 0200 hours, is that clear?"

"Sir, yes sir!"

"Dismissed, I shall see you on the field."

"Republic bootcamp installation Reno, the hardest and most sound military outpost in the Republic and I get to train here. I'm all thrills as I get yelled at, slapped and punished just so I can be trained to fight Zerg. I could think of a hundred things I would want to do then fight Zerg. Every day I work and sweat, and at night I ache and groan so one day a pack of bugs can eat me alive. What kind of deal is that?"

"Just deal with it Chris. We got drafted and now we have to fight. Do you want the Zerg to come and get caught with our thumbs up our ass?"

"What about the Protoss? Shouldn't they be fighting the Zerg? What about them Dave?"

"What about them is right. No one has seen a Protoss since the Kerrigan conquered Aiur. They are useless, its up to us to save our own. We beat the Zerg before and we can do it again. It's as simple as that."

Dave Marrow and Chris Field were once just college buddies. Now they were members of the proud and glorious Republic Military Divisions. A choice that was not left for them but a choice nonetheless. They served as the next generation of soldier who had never seen the Zerg up close and personal. They, like much of their generation, had heard of the Zerg and Protoss through television, movies and bedtime stories. Their concepts of the Zerg and Protoss were skewed and now they were training for a war that many were not ready for. The Protoss on the other hand had waited for a lifetime.

When the Zerg invaded Aiur, many great hero's were lost. Artanis had fallen to the Zerg swarms and Zeratual had disappeared. The Protoss had spit into two factions. Those who lived in nomadic space and those who had become Dark Templar. Both factions mourned the loss of Aiur and had dedicated their existence to avenging their lost world. Recent Zerg aggression had pulled their hated foe into a war with the terrran's. Now more then ever, it was imperative to strike down the Zerg and retake Aiur. The two factions met to discuss how they would reach such a victory. Leading the nomads was an old warrior named Tosha. He had witnessed the first Zerg assaults and was well aware of what they were capable of. Leading the Dark Templar was a mage named Moranda. She had become the new matriarch and had rebuilt the Protoss into a powerful race once again. The two leaders knew that the other could not be trusted and that this alliance was shaky at best. Still, it was the larger problem at hand that demanded unity and trust.

"En taro Artanis Tosha. It is good to see your people are still well."

"En taro Adun Moranda. I have news from the terran sector. They have begun to prepare for war and will soon begin the invasion of Aiur."

"Indeed this is very interesting news. This could prove useful if we act quickly."

"My people are ready to reclaim our world. We are strong and ready to fight."

"Your enthusiasm is a joy to see but your people lack the weapons needed to fight the Zerg. We too have scouted our enemies and we know that your ships and weapons are not enough. Your people must be educated in the use of our advanced weaponry."

"My people do not need your weapons to defeat the Zerg! We have our ships and the teachings of Adun to lead us! I will not allow my people to be corrupted by you! Aiur will be returned to our people and will never again be soiled by Zerg or Dark Templar alike!"

Tosha stormed from the room and Moranda could only shake her head at the blind ambition of a foolish warrior. His people would be slaughtered and there was nothing she could do.

Far from the cold darkness of Shakuras, on a small desert planet floating through space. An man sat on his porch looking out on the sand and sun. He sat in a rocker and slowly whittled away on a piece wood and also on a bottle of malt liquor. The man continued to whittle as a dropship landed infront of his house. Out stepped two marines and a lone general. The three walked up to the porch and stared at the old man who sat before them.

"Excuse me sir, but I have orders to take you to see the president. Your former military rank and power is to be bestowed upon you and you are to return to military command"

"What the Hell for?"

"The president requires you to lead an expedition against the Zerg."

"Can't he get some other officer to do that. I'm retired jackass."

"Well, this particular Zerg is somewhat of an acquaintance of yours. Kerrigan, Queen of Blades."

The man dropped his knife and took a long sip from his bottle. He stood up and saluted the general.

"Commander Jim Raynor reporting for duty."
