It was Saturday night, and I was busy downloading the new 1.08 replays just to see what it is like. It was interesting, and very well thought out, although because it seems to be run on AI script you can’t rewind, but you can fast forward somewhat. I also got a cable modem, so I asked a friend to play Starcraft with me. He also had patch 1.08 so we logged on the X-Force server and played 1v1, just to see what it’s like. The first game he disconnected (not on purpose [I think…]), and the second game I won. Then we got the idea of trying out the new Top vs. Bottom mode. You basically choose from 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4, and you can’t un-ally with your teammates so backstabbing isn’t really an option (unless you kill their units one by one). And because there wasn’t anybody in the server, we decided to have computers as our allies. So this is how we started…

So our game is underway. As you can see I get 6, my ally at 3, and the opponents at 12 and 9. Out of the four, all except for Terran early expand. AzN goes for an early forge and fortifies his expansion with cannons on the cliff and next to the ramp. I go gateway, then forge and fortify my expansion with three cannons and constant zealot production. By the time I go to expand, one of my cannons get in the way so I have to destroy it (Doh!). Anyways, Zerg use lings to guard it while raising a couple sunkens at its main to protect from drops (either that or its still dumb), and Terran is pumping marines out of two barracks and is teching to factory and academy.
I decided to do a reaver drop so I started gases at both bases and warped in a core. I started my Robotics Facility when I saw that my ally decided to attack AzN with some M&M&Fs. So I quickly get my four zealots and go to help out, but by the time I got there the attack was dead.
Seeing this, I returned the zealots home. Wow isn’t this exciting :p. I figured it was time to do my drop. My shuttle was anxious and so was I. So I loaded up scarabs into my fresh reavers and then loaded the two reavers into the shuttle. I headed to the southern left corner of Zerg base and dropped the two reavers. There was a sunken within range of the reavers so I started working on that. Soon ling reinforcements arrive but they didn’t do much and I spotted two couples of zealots. Well they were too busy to notice me so I started lobbing my scarabs at them too, and the oddest thing is that they didn’t retaliate! They just stood there retarded. Then AzN spotted them and microed them to attack my reavers and along with some lings, my slugs are dead.
During this, AzN has made a citadel, archives, and a robotics. Pretty freaking obvious he’s going to do some raiding. He started some DTs and a shuttle. I didn’t know of this and all I had to defend from that was a cannon at my mineral line. All my attack units were at the front. Terran was making basic infantry and tanks, and Zerg was massing lings and hydras. It also morphed some lurkers for decoration. AzN found it wise to drop me so he brought(brang? brung?) his shuttle to the Zerg base, then dropped me from the left. Simultaneously I had a shuttle with a probe going to expand to the bottom right island, knowing that the island is safe. Also simultaneously him and his ally attacked me! As for the drop, the DTs tear up the cannon and then start on my observatory, which I warped in during my reaver drop. I had an observer so I chased the DTs with it while stopping the drop with goons with a toll of a couple pylons, 5 or so probes, an observatory, and a couple dragoons. But bigger than this was the attack. The goons came first and were pretty easily torn apart but then the Zerg came and they destroyed almost everything. I was busy chasing the DTs and after killing them I immediately sent the units down to the natural to help defend. Microing, I finished the Zerg off with a couple goons left. My natural only suffered minor damages thank god. IMHO, the drop was scarier than the attack. It stopped my economy like a bitch and took some of my buildings down too. I build seven gateways and starting pumping goons and zealots. I should also note the computer gayness. The computer has ~25 hydralisks in between my base and his! That little crevice that nobody goes to except when harassing with tanks seemed to be the rally point for his hatcheries or something. Although its more likely a preparation before attacking which was what I thought. Terran expanded to mineral only at this time, but not the natural. I decide to attack AzN with my goons and zealots hoping that the Terran computer would help me. But because it is a bitch it only helped me for like 10 seconds, and then goes to defend its expansion. I take out the main cannons and all his attack units while avoiding the cliff cannons. There also were some cannons near his nexus which I avoided and started beating on a bare pylon. A couple DTs come and make soup out of my goons but not before I take a pylon. Terran expanded to natural and all was quiet. That is until I realize that AzN dropped me again. Yes, while I was laying the smack down on his gay non-storming ass he dropped another four DTs in my mineral line. He took my nexus and my observatory (again!). This was stopped quite quickly since I had observers all over. As I hear the last “Gua!” (or whatever a DT sounds like when dying) Terran went to attack Zerg. I came along to help and all was dead.

The natural fell with few losses, but then came the stupid Terran computer AI again. The tanks stayed there in siege mode as the infantry units went up the ramp and got slaughtered by sunkens and lurkers. I decided to stay there until my observer could come and help me but by that time AzN’s reinforcement DTs came and finished us off. Pissed off, I started upgrading my observers.
Because of this attack, Zerg got scared and expanded to the top left island. Now all of our bases are bare. Time to update the situation.
AzN sees himself stuck between a spidermine and a hard place, and starts three stargates. He is constantly producing dragoons and DTs. I am pumping dragoons and the occasional reaver. Terran is making everything. Even nukes. Zerg is…screwed. It’s rebuilding and making hydras.
Returning to the game, AzN was desperate and felt he needed to kill the Terran comp to even it up. So he sent about 8 DTs and destroyed the Terran mineral only expansion. There goes the nuke. He followed that up with a trip to the natural and tore that up. Feeling lucky, he went up the ramp but then his victory raid is stopped by a couple bunkers and tanks. There was still no science vessel in sight. I didn’t recognize that he did all this until I watched the replay for the third time because I was busy cleaning up the Zerg mess. Not much to say, I got a control group of goons with observers and finished it off. This concluded the twenty-minute mark. After destroying the Zerg base, it still didn’t say they were dead so I began scouting. It didn’t take me long to find the top left expansion so I loaded up my two reaver into the shuttle and headed towards it. Guarded by hydras and lings, the expansion fell but not without killing one of my bug's life. GG Zerg Computer.
AzN had pretty much no chance at this point. All the main expansions were mined out or have been mined from. He produced four quick carriers and sent them to my base from the left, while I attacked his main with my goons. My attack was a disaster, and his attack was a disaster. I stopped his attack relatively easily by sending the goons back to my base while the goons that stayed to attack AzN soon perished. Following this, I took the island expansion at the top left to ensure maximum map control. AzN followed the pitiful attack by another one, this time four DTs and two goons dropped at my main but that was even more easily stopped because I re-rallied my gateways to my main ever since the Zerg-Toss attack they did on me so I chase the DTs around my main, then down the ramp where they were flanked by zealots which were guarding the front door. I never did bother to rebuild my nexus at the main by the way. So after building up around 36 goons, I gathered all my mofo units and attacked AzN along with the Terran. I also dropped the lone reaver and all my probes from the top left expansion into his main and that swung the battle to my favor as he finally surrendered.

Conclusion- This game wasn't the greatest I admit I just wanted to try something new. The computer AI still sucks. I wish you can adjust the computer level from Easy to Insane and not just use the custom level. I wanted the computer to nuke but interestingly enough the nuke was a second away from completion when he left the game. The replay also shows you how much money you have and the computers used it well(Although we didn't). I have one more image but didn't want to flood the BR with image so I left it out. You can see it HERE. In case you didn't notice, this BR was entirely written from replaying. My only wish is that the computer stopped going on attacks with a 0% chance of winning. If they do, at least allow them to retreat. You also obviously noticed how we didn't use any storm. It's cause we are lazy bastards and the weakened storm would just piss us off. Hope you enjoyed the report.
