CK Productions Presents: Fucked-Up Starcraft Mazes

A brief introduction: The following started out as boredom during English class. I turned to a blank page and began sketching out crude designs for puzzle-maze type thingies. I decided that several of them were good enough to post, just for a little fun. These are three fucked-up mazes. The first one is a garden-variety ‘count the numbers’ maze, you’ll see what I mean. It has a twist, though: an optically confusing art style that will no doubt confuse some of you. The second one really makes me horny. It is loosely based on a set of rules devised by Robert Abbot, in his book “Mad Mazes”, but I have changed it to the version you’ll see here. The third is my personal favorite. It is my own invention, and easily the most confusing of the three. It contains well over thirty false paths, a fucked-up set of rules, weird twists and turns, and squeezes three separate paths where there appears to be only one. I actually got a headache whilst working on it, go look at it and you’ll see what I mean. :p

Please post your feedback in the comments section. I’m not exactly sure how the BR.com community will react to this, but it’d be nice to know.

As for my fan fiction, I’m still working on that. I’d like to give kudos to all who put comments in the comment section, except for a few lamers (you know who you are!)

Well, it’s mazing time!

Maze the First!

Jim Raynor was returning to his Command Center one day after a long day’s work of “riding around in his vulture and shootin’ things”, when suddenly he ran into an angry gang of rouge Zerglings. Surprised, Raynor asked,

Raynor: What the hell are you doing here?

Zerglings: KEKEKEKE We gosu! ^_^ huk huk

Raynor: What?

Zerglings: WE GOOD MANNER~~~ T_T huk! ALL YOUR SPIDER MINE BELONG TO US}{}{}{

Raynor: Enough of this, I’m going to shut you all up.

Zerglings: NO PK us! We good manner! HAH WE FAST ~~~~ -_-

As it turns out, the Zerglings were indeed too fast for poor Raynor, and before he could even fire the devilish things had swiped all of Raynor’s spider mines and hidden them away somewhere.

Raynor: Fuck! I got to get my spider mines back. Where are they? Oh there they are... what the hell is that?

The Zerglings had hidden Raynor’s mines in a big maze. In fact, it seems the lingies had an entire stockpile of spider mines in there. Raynor has to get back 12 spider mines. But, as it turns out, the mines are programmed to rush at the first vulture they see. If Raynor ventures into an area with 8 spider mines, they will all come running at him at once. Raynor’s vulture can hold only 12 mines. Any more, and he’ll literally explode. Can you help Raynor pick up exactly 12 spider mines, then get to his command center? Remember, you can’t retrace your path.

Raynor: And just why the hell can’t I do that?

Well, umm, uhh...... Let’s do the maze everybody! Have fun!

Raynor: (^#(*&$^#!!

Bonus: There are actually four different ways to do this maze. Can you find them all? ...Do you even care?

Maze the Second

After collecting all his Spider Mines, Raynor headed back to the command center, grumbling. The next day, went out ridin’, and as luck would have it, he ran into the very same pack of Zerglings.

Raynor: You all again!

Zerglings: KEKEKE~~~ ^_^

Raynor: I’ll kill you all- aww heck with this, I’ll just run you over.

Zerglings: NO PK! TT yo~~

But Raynor could not run them over, primarily because Vulture was hovering five feet off the ground. Those thieving zerglings ran up and stole his brake mechanisms, then chased him right onto a causeway.

Raynor: Dammit! ...what kind of jacked up causeway is this?

...It’s a jacked up causeway... just like you said! How about that. Now, the causeway is very narrow, so Raynor cannot attempt a full 90 degree turn or he’d crash into a wall. He can safely do gradual turns, however, but no 90° turns allowed. You’ll see what I mean when you look at a map of the maze.

Raynor: I suppose I shouldn’t even think about attempting a U-turn.

Nope. Start where it says “Start”, end at “End.” Simple enough, eh? Oh yeah, and follow the arrows. There are certain areas which you can only go through only one way. Otherwise, the spikes there will cause severe hover-tire damage. Can you help Raynor escape from this causeway? Remember, no 90° and 180° turns allowed, and you must follow the arrows. Think of a car going along a racetrack.

Raynor: Wait a minute... there’s no such thing as “severe hover tire damage.” In fact, there’s not even such as thing as a “hover tire—”

OKAY LET’S DO THE MAZE EVERYBODY!!! HAVE FUN!!!

Raynor: &#()*&#$(*&^@$#!%#*@!$#

Now now, none of that.

Let’s have a fun example. Raynor starts out at “Start”, his vulture careening east. At the first intersection, he can’t turn at all— he can only keep going east. Needless to say, he can't turn at that merger that occurs right after the intersection. At the second intersection, he can still only go east. Right before he meets the third intersection, he has a choice to go east or north. But if he goes north, he’ll run into some nasty wrong-way arrows, and we don’t want that. So he goes east again. At the next intersection, he has to go south. Then he must take a turn to the west. Then at the next intersection, he can go either west or north. And so on.
Have fun, and happy mazing!

Hint: If it looks like you are going somewhere you’ve already been before, have you really? Or am I playing a trick on you? .... *insert sinister laugh here*

Maze the Third

Once upon a time, Fenix the Dragoon was going out for a lovely walk in the park, when suddenly he met an ugly defiler.

Fenix: Why, you’re a defiler! I shall have to kill you. For Aiur!

Defiler: Muahaha! You can’t touch me if you tried.

Fenix: Yeah? You want to see me? Dance!

The defiler cast Dark Swarm over himself, thus preventing Fenix from shooting him.

Fenix: Hey, what’s that orange cloud do?

Defiler: ...Ahem. For your terrible crime, I shall have to curse you. You are hereby condemned to wander around this maze until you can find a way out—

Fenix: I don’t see a maze anywhere.

Defiler: It’s down there, stupid.

Fenix: Oh... *look*... That’s the stupidest maze I’ve ever seen! Why, I can just start over... where?

Defiler: Take your pick.

Fenix: Well, I can just start there, wander over there and exit! Or I could start there, and—

Defiler: There’s a catch, you big moron.

Fenix: Always a catch.

Defiler: You are also condemned to leap about like a knight in chess. You can move in an L shape, either two spaces forward and one space to the side, or one space forward and two to the side. Like a knight in chess. And no, you can’t leap over the black squares. That’s illegal.

Fenix: Well... I can still go over there, then... no wait, it doesn’t work like that. Or maybe I could go over there, then jump— Oh wait, I can’t jump over black squares. DAMN YOU DEFILER!!! (*&$#*$#&#

Can you help Fenix get rid of the defiler’s curse by completing the maze? Start at one end, go out the other. You must move in the manner of a Knight in a chess game. You cannot land on— OR JUMP OVER— a black square. Have fun!

Defiler: One last thing.

Fenix: What!?

Defiler: Don’t stare at the maze too long, it’ll make your head explode.

Fenix: @(&*^#@(*&^#@!@*^!&@_)@!_(#

This maze could be kind of confusing at first. Let’s try an example. Follow along with your cursor; it'll be easier, and your head won't explode. If you start on the square on the far left, you can go one space down and two spaces to the right. Now you have a choice of two different paths to take. Let’s take the path on the right. You can move two spaces right, then one space down. Then one space down, then two to the right. (Bear with me here). Now you have another choice of where to go. Let’s move two spaces down, then another space to the right. Then from here you can only go one space right, then two spaces up. (You can’t go two spaces right then one space up, because you’d be jumping over a black square, and that’s highly illegal.)
Confused? Good. If it helps, try using your cursor to keep track of where you’re going. Or maybe a pencil. If you’re having trouble, print it out. It’s in printer-friendly black and white. Use dots to mark your path, and be careful not to make a mistake!

Hint: When it looks like you’re retracing your steps, are you really? Or is this just another of my clever tricks? Buahaha!

Thank you for reading.
