This is the story about a highly over-rated newbie. It started out with an ashworld 128 square map. Santa-Claws, me, was at 10 o'clock and Terran, and my friend T_abbott, was 5 o'clock Zerg.
I quickly got 2 supply depots, a barracks, and a refinery. I decided to go scout with an SCV after building 2 bunkers for protection. I eventually found T_abbott's expansion at 2 o'clock, which I thought was his main base. I didn't want to go too close to his base in fear that he would see me and kill the SCV, so after seeing the creep I turned around and built 2 quick bunkers. Had I gone slightly farther, I would have seen him only have a hatchery and getting an evolution chamber, which I thought was too slow because I was already building a machine shop on my factory.
After getting 3 tanks, I went over to his 2 o'clock expansion and started attacking it with siege. He had just gotten some zerglings there and managed to kill 1 tank before he died. I quickly took the rest of his base. I also went scouting down south with a tank as i was upgrading my ground weapons at my armory and getting a starport. I sent my tank to move to the bottom left, but I should have sent it to attack the bottom left. The tank went right by YET ANOTHER expansion right in the middle of the map. I turned it around after killing a few zerglings and started to kill the hatch there.
Eventually he got some hydras there and killed my tank. As this was happening, I was getting 5 wraiths ready at my base. I was also sending another tank and 2 vultures because I only saw a hatch there. Those units died after he got some zerglings and hydras. I thought about expanding but I never did, mostly because he never attacked me or re-took the top right base, which I only had 2 tanks guarding.
I sent some cloaked wraiths down to his expansion and killed it just after he spawned his FIRST mutalisk. I was thinking all this while he must have a billion hydras and mutas at his main base and was getting ready to attack.
I took over the middle as I was getting some goliaths and more wraiths, when I started exploring the southern part of the map more. I eventually stumbled upon his main base at 5 o'clock and attacked it with clocked wraiths. I was SO surprised at how bad he was, he only had a spawning pool, extractor, hive, spire, hydralisk den, and queens nest there!
His only defense there was a billion zerglings and 2 burrowed lurkers, so I took all the buildings easily with my wraiths, and valkryies took care of the overlords. He was getting a greater spire and drones as I finished him off. Talk about over-rating a newbie... |
