There was not very much action to speak of, but I was engrossed in every moment. I present to you my very first BR. Don't be gentle, if it sucks, let me know. And dont ask about my tanks, I realize my critical error.
That reminds me of a funny story, when I was a young newb (now im just an older newb) I created a map with wasteland terrain, and the only mineral expansion was in the very center (I was too lazy to draw everything else, no cliffs, minimal rivers, not even neutral animals, it was basically the only alternate terrain anywhere) so I played against one comp, I of course chose terran.
I built up a shoddy defense, consisting of a supply depot wall and no bunkers. Then I erected 2 factories, and stormed his main base with a cluster of marines and a few tanks, quickly rolling through it because it was relatively undefended, this left me a bit puzzeled. Then I sought to take the little expansion, but he was already there and had littered sunkens all over it. My tanks died quickly, while my marines fought bravely against the weird, tongued organic structures. After destroying about 6 sunkens, I was fighting off the last one with my no-longer-expendable marines and I lost the last lieutenant when I made my effort to retreat.
So I had mined out my main (I had about 25 unscathed workers at my home base), had about 19 minerals left, and the comp had an expansion running with heart-wrenching efficiency. I looked back at the fogged area of the expansion, at that one sunken wich CRUSHED my remaining forces, I almost turned off my computer there and then, when suddenly, I had a devilish idea. Could my scvs take on a sunken colony wich was now probably at full health or close to it? Bear in mind that I was DEATHLY afraid of sunkens because of the way they impaled my helpless soldiers (I never really bothered to upgrade them and I thought stims were a waste!).
The time to act was now, I couldn't let the comp get any offensive units or my entire effort would be for nothing. I sent in the scvs in my signature single file, wich spanned half the distance to the expansion when toe-to-toe. When they arrived, the first scv was hit by the fleshy spike, but it bravely pressed on, and dug its fusion-cutter-of-death into the throbbing opposition. The twisted mass now turned its wrath on more approaching assailants, but was soon overwhelmed by countless reinforcements. Then the little construction vehicles laid their pizza slicers into the bleeding obstruction, and proceeded to tickle it to death.
Small puffs of smoke extinguished their comrades, but immediately another would replace it, as they mightily etched away at the bane of their existence. With one last spark, the colony errupted, splattering my remaining 13 warriors with red goo. I knew of the advantage his drones would have against me if I went in close combat, and he had nearly the same number as me (dont comp workers seem to always win against yours anyway?) so i had about 5 of my warriors hold position and quench any building attempts, while the remaining eight struck into the mineral core and hurriedly brought them back to base.
After about 3 trips I had 4 marines produced from my two colossal barracks, and I sent them straight into the heart of the monstrous zerg infestation. They slaughtered almost every drone they encountered, and those who escaped were quickly chased down by my combat-savvy scvs. Now the powerful Zerg was defenseless, and I immediately set to work with my marines on the extractor, while the scvs slammed into the massive Hatchery. Soon four more marines arrived on the scene and engaged the morphing Spawning Pool they discovered on the right quadrant of the central infestation. As this pulsating, inanimate organism was being pummeled constantly by Gauss Rifle fire, it finally gave in and imploded in a volley of squirming tubes and red gelatin, the extractor was finished in a similar manner at about the same time.
Now the hatchery was all that remained. The brave scvs had brought its health down to a mere 1102, as the marines bore down upon it with sour vengeance and unrelenting fury. As they tore at its most crucial areas with flaring ammunition, they screamed out compensation to their fallen buddies, then it was over. They returned to their Command Center, and were greeted with a hero's welcome, being promptly draped with ribbons and medals. Their battered equipment was retired to the hall of Legends.
***In Conclusion***
Through terrible micro, failure to expand, overall ignorance and a complete lack of sense, I emerged victorious. This is my story, and my legacy lives on.... |
