A ZerG~LinG Production
Oh, it's you again, really wanna read another LinG report? Hmmm guess I better give ya one then. (This intro was sponsored by the foundation working against long, meaningless intro's. Or TFWALMI for short.)
As you can see on the above pic, this is a 1v1 between two well known players *cough*, no doubt you've seen their names on replay sites world over, and watched gay .avi movies showing closeup's of their ridiculous hair.. Or maybe not? In any case, this match was played on the somewhat popular, Lost Temple, both players know the layout pretty well and should be able to pull off some nice moves ;).
To the far east, the Terran commander BoxinG_Bunny lands his brown command center and immediatly starts to clone his scv's with perfect results.
Across the map, to the west, FlaminG_Gaming spawns a hatchery with a nice orange coating for the occasion. He too does a perfect split :)
Bunny starts his campaign for victory, just like any other Terran player. A supply depot is constructed just below his assimilator for maximum profit, while his first two barracks are placed nicely beside each other, close to the ramp. Bunny opts for a low tech approach, and builds about 10 ’rines before adding gas and starting an academy.
In the wild, wild, WiLD west, Gaming does the extractor trick, and when the overlord is complete, he orders up three drones while building a hatchery at his natural. Gaming feels a bit confident and waits until the 13 supply mark to add his spawning pool, a daring move but a slight advantage in economy.
Bunny spots his opponents late pool and decides to make good use of his own low tech strat, the scv who spotted the late pool raced to the natural and started a bunker right next to the morphing hatchery, Gaming quickly reacts and moves four drones in to intercept. Bunny's amazing scv skillz save the scv from dieing and even prevents a sunken from being built while Terran reinforcements are en route. First to arrive is another scv who finishes the bunker, followed by a single marine. Gaming had his first lings out by now, and tries to keep new rines from entering the bunker, he kills a few and starts a creep colony right next to the bunker. More lings race down from the main, while some hatch right next to the bunker, and along with the sunken, they raze the bunnker to the ground, killing the three ’rines inside. So much for being manner :-(
At this time, Bunny finishes his academy back home and begins marine/medic production, still from two barracks. Meanwhile, Gaming starts his extractor at last, and begins mining. The first 100 units of gas are used on a speedling upgrade.
Bunny now has a control group of marines, coupled with a few medics (GROUP SEX!). Stim is reseached, and Bunny’s troops move towards the Zerg base with their hopes high. Gaming had been massing lings, instead of the normal sunken defence, and controls about 20 of the little bastards. His overlord hanging out above the cliff in front of his base reports Terrans in sight and Gaming moves out to surprise them! Gaming uses his surprise advantage and runs the lings around the marine pack, instead of just the head on approach. Bunny's marines are surrounded, and the othrwise stronger terran force is heavily cut down. Only a few marines are not torn in pieces. I, myself, was really surprised that Gaming's few lings without speed upgrade, could tear through so many ’rines, wish I could do that. =(
Gaming's mighty war machine consisted of three hatcheries at the moment, and he waisted no time in using them. In a few minutes, packs of zerglings were filling up his natural entrance, of course, Gaming couldn't possibly have them standing around all day, so he ordered them to attack the Terran main. On the way, a small group of m&m greeted them, but once again, Gaming showed off great micro and surrounded the suckers in no time, completely annihilating them. They moved on towards the Terran main, growling and generally making funny noises as they went up the ramp. "That's the stuff!", two firebats stimmed and fried the first pair of lings, but the fiery foe was without medic support, and the superior lings swarmed them. Two marines' blood was spilled as the lings were cut down to only three, even though these veterans fought hard, they ultimately met their maker, after a battle with a few scv's and a firebat :)
Both players stopped their assaults for a moment to get their new tech up and running. Bunny made his science facility for pesky vessels, while throwing down a bay and starting 1:0 upgrade. He also added another barracks.
Gaming put his new lair to good use, and started morphing a spire.
About this time, something funny happened, Bunny tried a cool drop where he loaded up two firebats for some drone hunting, probably because he couldn't spare his other men. Gaming was quick and moved his drones away and brought cannon fodder (lings) for the bats. Bunny loaded his men back in and scampered back to his base. in the heat of the bat chase, Gaming showed that you can be too quick, and attack moved his lings at his own spawning pool =) The pool was cut down to almost 50% hp before Gaming realized what was going on and saved his pool =)
Bunny's starport had been blinking away for some time now, and a wraith popped out, it was sent to Gaming were it ran into his new muta force, Bunny danced it around like crazy before it finally came down, but not before the important scouting information had reached Bunny...
So when Gaming's muta/ling force neared the ramp, Bunny was ready. The mutas came in and tried to get free firebat kills, but constantly stimming marines stopped them. Gaming realized the ramp was impossible to raze, and proceeded to swing his muta force around the Terran plateau and hit it from the back. (And when I say 'Hit it from the back' I don't mean like ya'll are thinking) Bunny was no fool though, and ample defence consisting of a bunker and several turrets drove the mutas away, with heavy losses.
Back at the cerebrate's council meeting (or whatever the zerg have) Gaming decided to expand to the 6 main instead of pressing on.
The council meeting mentioned before reached another decision. Lurkers. As a result, eight eggs were itching to hatch in the zerg natural. Meanwhile, Gaming also took the time to expand once again, this time to the 6 natural. After the lurkers had morphed, a huge zerg swarm was patrolling the middle, owning every inch of the battlefield, and using the secret ZergGangster handshake whenever they met. But on the East Side lies the rhyme-mastering Terrans, and what they lack in power, they make up for in hide and seek! A 30 ’rine strong force with medic and vessel support tip-toed down the southeast edge of the temple, behind the walls. The reached the Zerg natural without getting spotted, and started hammering away at a few hydras, no real resistance was spotted. Gaming reached for his hotkeys and ordered his army controlling the middle, to go back and push away the defenders, and what a shock it must have been for Bunny! 10 Lurkers, a control group of mutas and lings en masse poured into the valley, but somehow, Bunny kept his cool, matrixing/stimming the marines and moving further into the Zerg base. The marines were pushed back over the natural expansion creep, and at the ramp, one final stand was made. By now, five matrixed marines still stood, and fought to the bitter end. But in the end, no Terran force could hold the massive swarm coming at them, and after almost cutting the Zerg force to half, the last Terrans from the offensive died.
During the recent attack, Bunny dropped a squad of m&m at 6, and killed the expansion at the main there. A few seconds later he took his own natural, and began constructing bunkers for defence. The marines were currently at 2:0. At the other end of the map, Gaming still had his natural, and the 6 natural under his control. His hydras are 1:1 at the moment.
Bunny hadn't just been building vessels outta his starport, two dropships were ready to cause a stir in the Zerg defence. One flew to the Zerg natural, while another set out to trash the 6 o'clock natural. The first ship dropped its three marines and one medic on the cliff, tearing the extractor apart before Gaming could get his lurkers in and shut the offensive down. The same team was dropped on the 6 cliff, but this time, two tanks sieged alongside the marines. Arclite fire rained upon the drones. Gaming frantically tried to save a few drones, successfully saving a couple, and with those, he started another expansion at the 6 main. Bunny had his two scanners revealing every inch of the map, and the expansion attempt didn't go unnoticed; a squad of m&m stimmed and took it out in no time. By the time Gaming came in with the hydras, Bunny had airlifted his men across the valley and to the Zerg main. An evo chamber was shot down before another hydra pack drove them away right back to the 6 main where they then stopped Gaming from exp'ing there AGAiN. This time, Gaming dropped a few hydras close by, and targeted the dropship. Once again, Bunny had his lightning fast micro ready, and was able to escape the assault with 8 hitpoints left on the dropship =)
In spite of Bunny's crazy exp hunting, Gaming was able to secure the 6 natural, and the 12 natural, for the time being anyway. His single evolution chamber was pumping away, and his hydras were at 2:1. On the Terran side, one of Bunny's advisors must have been Ling-Erie or something, cuz he headed straight for the 3:3 upgrade. In a few seconds, his 3:2 would be complete. Bunny had gone tank crazy and pumped 6 Arclite Siege Tanks. These were sieged up on his ledge in order to protect his mineral only.
Next up, a bewildering amount of action came across my eyes. Bunny landed his standard squad of marines on the newly built 6 main, destroying it for the 3rd time or so. Gaming promptly sends his ENTiRE army to battle the 8 m&m and while they're gone, Bunny strikes the 12 natural with 8 drug abusing marines. And so, Gaming sends his ENTiRE swarm back across the map to combat them, alas, while the majority of the swarm is gone, the middle is safe territory once again. Bunny goes on a vessel bonanza, and heads out with 6 geniuses in ballon-like ufo's. This has gotta be good, right? The vessels irradiate eachother and fly over the zerg mineral only, drones watch helplessly as their bodies are torn apart by the irradiated vessels. Hydras rush in, and the vessels escape to the cliff overlooking the mineral only. From there, they rain down radiation clouds upon the hydras, who desperatly target their own race, trying to minimize damage by killing the infected. *QrriiccchhH!!!* (sound of scourge), the flying suicide bastards blast through the armored vessels, and blow the geniuses to smitherines.
After Gaming had banged his head into his table a few times, and an idea came to him! He was gonna drop the shit outta the fuxing Bunny! He moved his massive swarm north, right below the 12 main, which had been taken by Bunny just seconds ago. Bunny had the ramp to 12 locked down tight, with bunkers and tanks on the surrounding ledges, no Zerg force was gonna stomp that defence while he was in command! But Gaming had no intention to just run in there, instead he loaded 2 ovies with hydras and dropped 12’s defenceless mineral line. What about the other part of the furious swarm? They were crammed into 6 tightly packed overlords en route to the Terran main base. Nearing the plateau, turrets begin to fire, but not being able to dish out the damage fast enough, Gaming decides to ignore it, and lands his force, mainly consisting of lurkers, with the loss of only one ovie. Immediatly the lurkers take fire, Gaming taps the "U" button 'till his fingers bleed. Eventually the lurkers react and spines rip through the nearby structures, consisting of a bunker and turrets. An arclite shell rips through the air and lands directly on top of one of the lurkers, seconds later, more follow. Gaming has no mobility since he lost the only 4 hydras in the drop. His lurkers are quickly splattered by the long-range artillery.
A quick glance at the minimap reveals a huge brown mass crossing the center of the temple just before it comes crashing into the Zerg mineral only; A sackload of m&m, tanks and vessels completely overpower the few Zerg hydralisks stationed there, and the as the hatchery (currently pumped full of lead) comes tumbling down, Gaming leaves the game, overpowered and outmined...
Thoughts on the game:
A wellplayed action packed match with a strange ending. Gaming made a serious mistake to drop his main force, the lurkers couldn't do too much during the drop, the Zerg's strength lies in the power of mobility. Needless to say, the lurkers lacked that special trait.
Bunny controlled most of the game with his ace drops, killing many expansion before they were even completly morphed. All the while quietly building a huge force at his main.
And btw, in case u haven’t already found out, the players were actually Boxer and Starcraft_SiDe ;) I changed the names to make sure none of you would know the game. Boxer was Bunny while Side was Gaming
Lessons Learned:
If you're gonna do flash in your report, try to learn it first :P
Drop is GOD!
...But not with Zerg.
Thanks to SiG. aka Thunder. for proofreading, cuz hes just so damn amazing. (That last line was added by Thunder :(
The Laming Lemming!
For this edition of Laming Lemming, I bring you a flash movie that was originally going to be in the actual report, but due to my choboness, it never did.
I cant imbed it directly into the report because I suck, and therefore I’ll give ya a link to the actual file, just press 'open' instead of actually downloading it. Chobo Flash!
