Continuing the not-so-epic series of the clan wars. I guess we played the whole day on battle.net, from 1:00 noon to about 10 at night. So there are a whole load of games to report. So sit back and enjoy! Btw, the other part is here.
GAME FOUR
A nice rush-able 3v3 on Chain Lightning. Chain Lightning is basically a rush map.
Map: Chain Lightning
Players:
I, Adrenaling randoms orange Zerg
Zero[W] randoms purple Zerg
Praise[W] chooses teal Zerg
BroodBoy[W] chooses white Terran
Dawn[W] chooses brown Terran
Wizards[W] randoms red Terran
It is now a 3v3, Zerg versus Terran on Chain Lightning, the most rush-able map next to Blood Bath. I ally up with Zero and Praise, while the three Terrans take their places and form an alliance as well. I start at the left, with Zero in the mid-bottom and Praise at the top-middle. The others are at those fuddy-duddy start locations, that I can't really explain here and then.
I get an overlord at 10/9 with the extractor trick and a pool on 11. I want an early attack to try to successfully crush an opponent early game. Zero is getting fast hydras with speed and Praise is getting to a six pool, hoping he'll live till the end. Praise sends his zerglings over to the first base he finds - Dawn's. Dawn is cursing his ass off as his scvs all get ripped apart. I now have another hatchery and a group of zerglings coming. Praise forces Dawn to lift all his buildings and Dawn flies them off elsewhere. Praise is smart and keeps his zerglings near the floating buildings, so to keep Dawn from landing.
I have a group of lings. Just as I am about to attack, Praise yells, "Help!". I see some marines shooting down his drones. Counter-attack or defend? I decide to defend Praise's ass as Dawn is not effectively out of the game yet. I send my group of lings over. Both Broodboy and Wizards marines are ripping through Praise's base. AH-HA! My zerglings rip through their marines and Praise praises me for my help.
I tell my lesser brood to shut up as I make an extractor in my main. I quickly follow the gas-age with a hydra den. I look around the map and see that Zero's hydras are assaulting Dawn's floating buildings now. Dawn curses even more. Luckily, help arrives for Dawn. Broodboy sends in a force of M&M's. Mmmm, yummy. The M&M's assault the hydras. The hydras power are no match for the furious Terran's and the hydras and lings die as a shower of bullets hit them.
Zero and me go on the offensive again, with a mass amount of hydralisks. We decide attacking the stronger player would be better in this situation. I send a handy one control hydra group while Zero sends two. Remember, Zero started pumping hydras way before I did. We strike Broodboy's main base. He has been a-massing infantry or so. I am intent on retreating, but Broodboy's marines are falling faster than our hydras, so I decide to continue attack. Broodboy and Dawn are now effectively out of the game.
Now I know Wizards plays a hell better than I do, so I decide to "try" my best. I scout his base to see him have more infantry than Broodboy did. I warn the other two. Praise has got a gas a nice group of mining drones, as well on gas. I get a lurker morph and I tell Zero to do so as well. I then expand to Dawn's old main at the right end of the map. I morph 6 hydras into lurkers as soon as research is done. Zero morphs 4 lurkers as well. Praise decides to help a bit too and begins pumping a large amount of zerglings.
We attack now. Praise brings his lings in first, Zero and my hydras follow quickly. And at the rear end, the lurkers come crawling along. I burrow my lurkers at the face of the infantry, while Zero attempts to send his lurkers into Wizards' peon line. Zero loses two lurkers and manages to burrow two in the mineral line. Wizards knows it is over and concedes with a hearty gg.
GAME FIVE
No rushes here folks. Just a good ol' 1v1. It is now about 3:00 in the afternoon, and we are still playing games.
Map: Lost Temple
The Players:
I, Adrenaling randoms Brown Terran 12:00
Wizards[W] chooses Purple Protoss 9:00
The Observers:
Zero[W]
Dawn[W]
Praise[W]
Broodboy[W]
Yes, everyone but me and Wizards takes on the observer role. I end up at 12 with a shit-colored brown terran command center. Wizards warps his purple protoss at the 9:00. I remember Cold`Fusion teaching me a strategy once about a year ago, and I decide to try that strategy. I hope I remembered all the details and such.
I get a refinery on 7 and 3 scvs on it. I add a barracks soon and then a factory once the rax is complete. I climb up the tech tree quick. I add a marine on my ramp, then I tech off to starport. I add the add-on for it and get a scv facility. I get the covert ops and research cloak. No time for optical tings yet. I get a nuke now. I won't give the full build for the sake of Cold`Fusion.
I add a dropship and a ghost. I attach a machine-shop addon and get a tank. I load up my ghost and send him to a corner on the 9 plateau. I cloak the ghost and prepare to drop thy nuke hastily onto the nexus. I target correctly and a red dot appears on the nexus.
NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED!
Ahahaha!
Time passes and no resistance comes. Wizards is really, really, really confused and doesn't know what is going on. The nuke falls and with a great KABLOOIE! the nexus starts burning, and so do some important structures around it. The gas blows auto and so do some pylons around the area. The probes? Let's say that they went to Probe Heaven, orrrr, back to Aiur. Wizards is cursing me out and all the obbas are laughing their asses off. I get another nuke ready.
As soon as it is ready, I launch it at the nexus again.
NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED!
I show no mercy as another nuke falls. The nexus blows up and so do any structures around. Wizards promptly leaves.
GAME SIX
Well, this is one very short game.
Map: Blood Bath
The Players:
Dawn[W] randoms red zerg bottom-right
Zero[W] randoms orange zerg bottom-left
The Observers:
I, Adrenaling
Wizards[W]
Broodboy[W]
Praise[W]
Yes, now I am taking on the role of an observer. I get to fly around and scout out the players. I can stay cloaked forever. Shit! A turret! Run Obs Run! Missiles fly across the sky, hitting the poor little obs. "Meeowwh!". Dead.
Anyways, Dawn randommed Zerg at bottom-right and Zero with orange zerg at bottom-left. This will be an interesting game all right.
Dawn opts for a nice economy scouting to the left. Zero on the other hand, sacrifices his economy for early units. That's right! The dreaded 4-pool! Zero's scouting overlord sees this and he gets his own pool - on 6. Dawn begins spawning his lings, and shortly after, Zero does, too. Dawn's lings head off towards Zero's base. Zero makes a sunken in his base and gets two more lings from his extra larvae. Will Zero make it? Who will be victorious and take over the swarm? Find out, in the next paragraph - or two. Or maybe it was three. Anyways, just read.
Dawn's lings enter Zero's base just as Zero's two lings hatch to bring a total of 8. Zero starts another overlord. Zero runs his zerglings away and sends in his drones and zerglings at the same time. Zero's one sunken, 8-9 or so drones and 8 lings kill all defenders. Zero starts two drones from two more larvae and sends all his lings/drones that are remaining to Dawn's base. Dawn has a gas up and is now starting a Lair. What a dumbass.
Zero's zerglings run in with the drones. Some drones are still carry some minerals, too. ^^ Dawn has no defence and is forced to attack with his 7-9 or so drones. Too bad, eh, Dawn? 8 zerglings, even with out the help of drones could still kick your ass right now Dawn. So the zero zergs do.
GAME SEVEN - THE TOURNEY GAME
Long report, short games. This game is going to be fairly longer than the rest. It is because at that time, the clan tourney started and I wanted to watch the games. So I'm reporting this game.
Map: Lost Temple
The Players for this tourney match are...
Broodboy[W] chooses red Zerg 3
Zero[W] randoms purple Terran 12
The game starts with the two newbie players Broodboy and Zero. Zero randoms purple Terran at the north end of the map and Broodboy chooses Zerg at the east end. Since it is a tourney game, I suppose it will be more serious, but don't count on it.
Zero goes for a double rax marine rush. Broodboy goes a somewhat anti-random strategy and goes for a dual hatch, extractor, pool. Broodboy scouts early and finds Zero at 3. Zero knows his opponent is zerg, so he quickly gets a refinery. Broodboy quickly cancels one hatch and gets more drones. With a terran so close to him, he wants lurkers fast. And with a zerg so close to him, Zero wants either mines to protect against lurkers or sci vessels.
Zero scouts again and sees that Broodboy is teching hard to lurkers. Zero has a control group of marines and some medics around. He decides to attack. He moves down the ramp and to the Brood's base. Broodboy is caught with his pants down as M&M's rip through his base. Broodboy curses and leaves the game. =]
GAME EIGHT - A TOURNEY GAME
Broodboy is sent to the losers brackets and Zero advances. Now it is time for Dawn[W] versus Zero[W]. Expect more cheesiness people.
Map: Lost Temple
Zero[W] randoms white Protoss at 12
Dawn[W] chooses orange Terran at 6
Since the game is serious now, Dawn chooses his best race to go with, while Zero still goes for random. It may give him the early game advantage though. Zero ends up Protoss at the north end of the map while his opponent Dawn lingers around with Terran on the south end.
Zero decides to get fast goons, while Dawn opts for his usual metal. The first bit of action comes along when Zero warps in a pylon right where Dawn is going to put his barracks to continue his wall-in. Zero warps in two more pylons blocking off the ramp for any uses. Cheesiness indeed. Dawn was cursing it out.
Zero gets his first goon to attack the supply depot atop the ramp that was going to be used for a wall-in. Zero gets another gateway and a citadel. After his citadel is complete, Zero gets a templar archives. Two goons are now attacking the depot atop the ramp. The goons bust in and begin attacking random buildings. Then Dawn sends his scvs in and kills both goons with some losses.
Zero gets two DT out to attack the terran opponent. Dawn pumps out 3 marines and begins attacking the annoying, but quiet pylons atop the ramp. Zero gets two goons out after the DT. After the goons arrive, Zero sends the 2 DT and 2 goons to attack. The DT slice up the marines then work on the peon line. Dawn lifts his buildings, but voila! Goons to the rescue! Dawn leaves the game.
The newbieness continues. Will it end? Look forward to more cheesiness in many more further reports in the future.
Very quick report. =] I might report some of those tourney games. That tourney was the cheesiest tourney I ever saw/watched. Whatever.
