Hi there. My name is Desert Demon (duh :P) and this is my first battlereport. Ever. Yeah, in the history of the universe. Not that I've been around that long...

I was hanging around on B.net, wallowing in the total lack of games in random channels (people too...come on, folks!). Finally tired of sitting around, I hit "Join" and browsed through what was there. Over and over and over and...you get the point. Eventually, a 1v1 on temple caught my eye. With the total lack of anything better to do, I joined the game. Following is an account of the carnage that ensued.
My opponent for this game is tOybOx, who selected the enigmatic protoss (thats such a cool word...). I select the Zerg. Quickly, I mumble a prayer that the Swarm will win.
EARLY GAME & BUILD ORDERS
My hatchery spawns at 12, sporting a red color. (Whats funny is that the battle areas sport this color too, later on...Ok, thats not so funny...). tOy's yellow Protoss appear at 9 (Note: tOy will be represented in bold text, cuz yellow on white doesnt work. Meh.). Both players split their peons among the patches and queue up another one.
My build order is 9 pool to 13 hatchery at the choke point just below my ramp, where I plan to place sunkens later. tOy goes 8 pylon, 10 gateway, 11 gas.

I spawn 6 zerglings immediatley after my pool is completed. After chasing around tOy's probe for a while, I decide to test my luck and send the lings down to 6. My scouting overlords have not yet located tOy, so this move is based entirely on a guess. The lings run up the ramp, only to find an empty base. At this point, tOy has placed zealots on his ramp, and has started a cybernetics core. My lings finally locate his base, but they are unable to enter due to the zealots (awww...). I quickly retreat my zerglings to my ramp, where I start placing sunken colonies.
tOy has started a stargate, from which he will pump sairs (although I'm sure you could figure that out...). As my third creep colony starts building, I begin the morph from hatchery to lair at my main base. tOy's stargate finishes, and he starts to build a sair. My scouting overlord hovers unsuspectingly over tOy's base, and I suddenly realize it and move him north. The sair finishes and flies up to kill my poor overlord. tOy has constructed a forge and started a citadel of adun, and as the sair opens fire I take my natural exp and my lair finishes. I build a hydra den, change my mind half a second later and plop down a spire and an evoloution chamber. tOy sends his sair towards my base, and shortly afterwards moves his small force of seven zealots towards my base as well. My 12 zerglings and 3 sunken colonies will be enough to handle the zealots, but I lack anti air defenses, as my spire is nowhere near done and my evoloution chamber is not either. A second sair flies in, and I start losing overlords. I start a spore colony, but it doesnt finish in time to repel the corsair threat. The zealots arrive, and engage the sunken colonies and zerglings, and all but 2 die. I send my lings to retaliate, but they run into a cannon and I quickly retreat.

During this time, tOy has built a templar archives, and my spire has finished, as has my expansion. I start 3 mutas, as tOy builds a second gateway and starts a dark templar. I build some scourge at my exp and my choke to deal with the hovering sairs and move some drones to my expansion. tOy has started 2 more DTs and has sent the first one towards my base. tOy has started an expansion. His first DT arrives at my choke, kills off the lings there and starts attacking the sunken colonies. I move an overlord (without speed) towards the choke, along with my mutas. His DTs arrive, and destroy my 3 sunkens and do substantial damage to my hatchery before my overlord arrives and I kill 2 of the DTs. The last one moves up to my natural, where it kills some drones and wreaks havoc until an overlord spawns there and I finish it.
tOy has restarted the production of his sairs, and also started dragoon manufacturing. He has built an archon during the chaos to deal with my mutalisks. Both air and ground attacks are at level 1 for him, while I am partially through my level 1 armor upgrade for air.

PAST THE 10 MINUTE MARK...
Upon destruction of the DT, I have sent more drones to my exp, and started to add mutalisks to my air force. tOy starts a robotics facility. I scout with a scourge, then sent my force of mutalisks down to 6 and then towards the south of tOy's base. I take out the pylon supporting the stargate and robotics facility. In response, tOy sends his fleet of sairs, hist goons, and his archon down to combat the mutalisks. I quickly retreat. During this battle, I have sent a drone to 3 to expand. I build a hatchery, and start up some mutalisks to add to my swarm. tOy rebuilds his pylon. I send some mutalisks and scourge to attack tOy's expansion, but the cannons there and the incoming troops promise to overwhelm me, so I make a hasty retreat. tOy gets a third gateway, and places a nexus beside the mineral only expansion near his choke point. As my mutalisks reach my base, I put down a hydralisk den, and switch my focus to them. I take the 3 natural and send my mutalisks south to repeat the attack on tOy's pylon. His archon and sairs fly down, and once again I retreat. (I seem to do that a lot...). I have taken down the pylon and robotics facility in this last attack.
I start pumping out hydralisks and getting their upgrades, as tOy adds dragoons and zealots to his army.
tOy splits his army into pieces (zealots and zealots + archons + goons). He sends the zealots to 6, then to my base at 9, while sending the mixed group to my base. My hydras rush to 9 to stop the zealot force, leaving my main nice and open. tOy rushes in at that point, wreaking havoc. I repel the attack at the loss of 2 hatcheries and some troops. I send the survivors in a counter attack, but cannons and zealots reject them and they run away. tOy claims 6, and I rebuild my expansion at 9 while continuing to upgrade my hydralisks. tOy has gotten storm at this point.

THE THIRD HALF
I locate the expansion at 6, and send my hydralisks to take it out. tOy sends his army up into my base to retaliate, taking out my hydra den and forcing me to replace it. Temporarily without hydralisk production, I use what hydras I have and zerglings to repel the invaders. I lose my natural and a great deal of hydralisks in the fighting.
I send a force of hydralisks to tOy's base, but bad storm dodging and zealots decimate the force. I take the mineral only base nearest to me, and start mining from it. After the hatchery's completion, I build another at the northwest corner. tOy drops off 2 zealots and a dragoon at this base, and I never get to use it. I currently have 4 bases mining to his 2, one of which is almost out of minerals.
tOy sends a force of 16 zealots, 6 dragoons, and 2 templar at me. My hydralisks repel the attack, and tOybOx says "gg" and leaves, perhaps due to his lack of money and income compared to mine. GG tOy

CLOSING THOUGHS AND OTHER INTERESTING THINGS THAT YOU PROBABLY DONT CARE ABOUT
  • Interestingly, tOybOx had a higher score at the end, which made me wonder why he left. This was before watching the replay.
  • Sairs are the spawn of SATAN, at least from my point of view ^^
  • BRs are not to be made when you're sick
  • This is probably one of the better ZvP's I've played. It was extremeley fun to play.
Anyway, I hoped you liked that. It took me quite a while to do it, and I was sick too :( Plz comment and give me tips :D The replay can be found here.I am the walrus...goo goo goo joob...

You just sat down and read a Desert Demon report. Now you can go to the second grade!
