The War of Ignorance Battle Story

Prologue:

Excerpt from the journal of Senator Faeranos of Amedaeus…

September 12,

Things have been very brooding the past few weeks, as the conflict between the two political factions has been nearing a fevered intensity. The world of Kor Nolath has been occupied for a mere hundred years, a crash site built into a great city and empire. Peace has ruled the land for many years, without any strife. This was not the case as of the past few years. Originally, the first government was a completely democratic society, in which each person, young or old had say in how they were to be ruled. As the first small group of people grew larger with immigrants, this government became very hard to organize, seeing as the majority of the populace was spread out over a wide area. This was the conflict now. Two solutions to the problem had been suggested, but each group supporters refused live under the other. One of the political groups, the wealthy and well-knowledgeable people of the society, wanted to see a feudal system come into effect, in which those of power were the richest, and in their logic, the most suited for rule. The latter group, made up of the working class and such, wanted to see a government in which a republic could be formed, not that far off from the previous democratic society. Each area would have a representative to vote for what would be best for that area. The majority of the commoners accepted this idea, but confusing speeches that contradicted what they at first thought could sway the people very easily. Not being very wise in the ways of con, two distinct sides were formed. The conflict had been going on for close to twenty years, but closed minds and clenched teeth do not end in compromise. The most recent incident of this had been a very energetic debate in the Town Square of Amedaeus, which escalated into a brawl between two men over a petty disagreement, which brought forth many other fighters for each side. Many of the brawlers died that day trampled or beat to death by their fellow man. This electric argument claimed all decency from these once noble people. The political argument had become a war, between friends, brothers, and even father and son. Many lives would be claimed in this, and I know I can do nothing about it, and I severely regret that…

Chapter I

October 1,

The two factions have taken up residence in two separate towns, each of which has a unanimous support for their party. Amedaeus became the home and headquarters for the Morax, the leaders of the party for the workers and their like. The city was well designed for the tastes of this rough group. A mining city, Amedaeus was nestled in the high mountains overlooking the Valley of Thorns, the largest of all of Kor Nolath's natural landscapes. A well-trained militia was formed from the ranks of sturdy miners and those grunt soldiers who refused to follow the likes of the noblemen, the self-named Royalty. A well-defendable position, the Korax began plans on bringing Kor Nolath to unite once more, but they believed the only way this could happen was by the extermination of the Royalty. Everyone of age was drafted into the armed forces, and those unable to fight were forced to work in the factories and barracks, supplying the fighters with their gauss rifles and massive Arclite tanks. Preparations for the eventual wars were taken immediately, as many training academies were built to forge the knowledge of battle into the psyches of the soldiers. Mere days after the start of the military build-up, a full contingent of troops were en route for the capital of the Royalty, Le Royaliati.

The Royalty was not idle in this crucial planning time. Many courtiers were sent forth, seeking to find mercenaries to from the wilderness corners of Kor Nolath, in which lived those people who shunned civilization but not money. They are willing to fight for money, seeking to make their life better, or at least that of their children. In a scant week, an army of trained marine and medic mercenaries marched forth from the barracks of Le Royaliati, traveling the same path as that of the Korax. The plan that was at the forefront of Royalty was to completely siege the Korax into their city of Amedaeus, and practically starve them out. Although rather simple, this plan was effective and could be done without a massive loss of life on their part. Although the Royalty had the smarts and money behind them, the Korax commanded zealous obediance from their soldiers, and these would fight for their cause to the death. Both armies would soon test their mettle, shedding their blood on the battlefield…

In Chapter II, the first battle will be described throught the eyes of one who fought in it.

Hope you enjoyed this, so I can write more in this series,
