Hi! I have been reading reports on this site for quite some time and have found it quite informative so I decided to write my first battle report about a game that I had about two weeks ago so bear with me.

It was one of my first times on B.net and there was nothing but games on BGH which I already hate. So I decided to make a game on Sherwood Forest and didn't have to wait long before an opponent joined.

Early Game

I choose to leave my race to fate and ended up with the 1:00 starting position while my opponent choose protoss and the game began.

I went with a very basic build of pylon on 8 , gateway on 10, gateway on 12, and pylon on 14. I qued up two zealots and sent a probe to scout.

I found my opponent in the first place I looked, at 11:00 position and saw that he had went with an identicle build except he had a cybernetics core already warping in along with two zealots. My probe nearly shit his metallic pants when he wandered too close to the zealots and they told him to get off their turf with a slash to the head for good measure.

Well my injured probe cruised away back to my base vowing one day that his gang would avenge this disgrace. In all this time I hadn't been inactive and had built an assimilator, cybernatics core, and had warped in many zealots.

I decided that it would be a good time to jump the tech tree and built a robotics factory while setting up a basic defense at my choke of two pylons a shield battery and three cannons defended by dragoons behind zealots. Being the crafty commander that I am I also placed three cannons in my mineral line to stop drops. At this time I upgraded attack and dragoon range.

In short time I warped in a support bay all the while making some goons and zealots. Soon my observors started to cruise around the map and at this time I expanded to the gimmie between 1:00 and 3:00 setting up a basic two cannon dragoon zealot defense.

When my slow moving observer finally made it to my opponents base I found FIVE! gateways and a citudal of adun. Oh man I was in trouble as he also had a huge army of zealots and goons.

Midgame

In response I slapped down another gateway at my expansion and started to tech to reavors and templar simutaniously. I then lost my sight as my observor bit the dust and so I prepared for the inevitable attack. At this point I transferred more probes to my expansion and noticed that he had expanded to the 5:00 expansion completely across the map from him and it was fortified well.

He came with about 15 zealots and about 15 dragoons against my measly one templar, 7 zealots and 8 goons. Well utilizing my shield battery and using storm I killed all but about six goons losing all my troops. I sent reiforcements to try and help but his arrived also destroying my chance at survival.

I conceded the loss of my main and ran my probes away starting expansions at the 6:00 start and 7:00 gimmie. I slowly rebuilt my tech buildings at my first expansion and laid down basic cannon defense at my new expansions. I fortified my choke and was able to hold off the rest of his troops that came after destroying my main.

Frantically I built many probes, gateways and troops at all my expansions and tryed to get back in the game. At this time I sent another probe to expand to the 12:00 position and was killed by cannons. He had cannoned in the choke to my first expansion.

My opponent attempted to expand to the middle but with my newly made troops I destroyed them one by one from my 6:00 expansion and started yet another expansion at 12:00. I attacked his main trying to knock out his tech buildings but my meager force of 2 dark templar, 5 zealots and 5 dragoons was killed by a cannon and troop defense. I had managed to kill most off his troops and was about to attack again when about 8 3/3 carriers with an arbitor showed up at my first expansion.

In a rush I stormed once and tryed to build more cannons but he used excellent unit control to target templars and destroy cannons. I never got off another storm and decided to try and defend with goons while laying down three stargates and upgrading ship plating twice at my 6:00 expansion.

I began scout construction and sent as soon as they were built but was killed rather quickly although I got the arbitor and one carrier. I preceeded to lose this base and had to build my tech buildings yet again at my 6:00 expansion.

9 carriers soon showed up at my 7:00 expansion and razed that to the ground as well . All this time I was upgrading goon armour and building goons out of six gateways and also had about six scouts 0/2.

Soon I was under attack again at my 6:00 expansion and my scouts died pathetically only killing maybe two carriers. My dragoons did better and I think got about 3 more but soon reiforcements arrived and I was forced to abandon this base.

With only a dried up expansion at 12:00 left I took my remaining ground troups and attacked his main and surprisingly razed it to the ground whe he finally found my last expansion and I surrendered although I had almost come back from losing my main twice.

I gave a gg and he said nothing but after 2 and 1/2 hours I was glad to relax.

Lessons learned:

1) I should have made more gateways in the beginning once I saw his base.

2) Upgrade and mass units before attacking. I could have won if I had upgraded my scouts faster and waited till I had a decent number to attack ( corsairs would have helped too, I wasn't thinking very well).

3) Never give up. I lost my main but should have won this game because I outresourced him and kept him to only one expansion.

4) Drop your templar out of shuttles to storm as many of mine died trying to get close enough.

5) I made many stupid errors that I don't usually make so stay sharp when playing

Thats it. Sorry no pics but wasn't planning on this and I hope you all enjoyed.
